This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
The only requirement for making a wet dose is that water is pure (no germs, no toxins).for that reason the distilled water would be ok.

However- you shouldn't drink distilled water (as it would take away minerals from your bod, among other things) so just add some CLEAN table salt (about 1/4-1/2 tsp/liter
of your distilled water.

I am glad to note that the Wet Dose I have often recommended is now catching up on this forum as the preferred method to take a remedy. This has not been in general use for many years although it was first mentioned in Hahnemann's Sixth edition. I started using it after I was first introduced to its efficacy by Dr Luc de Schepper who was here in Sri Lanka last April to help the Tsunami victims.

I can testify that this wet dose is far more effective that the dry dose which almost all homeopaths use as it is perhaps more convenient.

I note that Astra has advised that you add 1/4 tsp to the distilled water but if you intend using it to make a Wet Dose with any remedy, I would advise against it. I would prefer that you use the distilled water without any addition as you will only be using just a teaspoonful of the remedy for your purpose.

It is only relevant if you must drink distilled water when you may consider using the salt. Spring water is usually the water packed into bottles and it is drawn from deep down in the earth from around 200 feet where the springs are usually pure.

Would you like to share with us what remedy you wish to make into the Wet Dose and for which ailment ?

You pour out about 2 inches of the water which is about 100ml as the air space is essential for succussion which is really the secret of the efficacy of this Wet dose method.

I too just could not believe that this dilution of a remedy can possibly work but when I discovered that it works even better in its efficacy, I changed over to it. It is when the Split dose is used that the mind is virtually boggled to understand how this further dilution can possibly work. This split dose is made by taking 1 tsp from the bottle after succussion and putting it into half cup of water from which just 1 teaspoonful is sipped.

How can this possibly work to help an ailment ? I just do not know but it does.

You are quite correct in your assumption that your Bell will last you a lifetime. However you should keep the bottle in the fridge to avoid any formation of any algae. I also prefer to use the liquid remedy instead of the lactose globules as the sugar help to feed the algae at room temperature in the tropics.

Would you like to tell me for which ailment you use Bell ?

well if the arnica didnt work for acne( not that I dont believe you) but I guess not all remedies work for everyone. As Bon Jovi said, "Im keeping the faith" :) ;)

Wet dose was described by Hahneman in Organon 6th ed. He added some alcohol or charcoal if it was to be used for a long time and in danger of bacterial growth.

The action of remedy hadn't been changed by it- and it would not be changed by adding a pinch of salt. Teaspoon at a time is not much - true- but taking distilled water is wrong for the body-because osmotic pressure needs to be equal on both sides of the cellular membrane water goes from less to more concentrated solution i.e. goes into the cells (causing swelling) and via blood to vital organs doing the same.
