The ABC Homeopathy Forum

homeopathy and antibiotics

Hi,

I was just prescribed Cipro antibiotic for what may be a bladder or kidney infection.. the doctor was not sure but there was a trace amount of blood in my urine so he prescribed this just to be safe. I am currently taking natrum silicatum (12C) to remedy a past hair loss problem which left my hair very thin.

When I was younger and was taking sulphur for this same problem (it began at that time) I became ill (cold and bronchitis) and had to take azithromycin as an antibiotic.. the homeopathic remedy then seemed to be antidoted and the homeopath said that I should not take antibiotics while on it (though he failed to tell us this beforehand).

Now here I am again in this situation and am just wondering if it's safe to take Cipro while on natrum silicatum or if I should stop the remedy while taking Cipro..? If I do have an infection then I am very hesitant to just not take the antibiotic.. i would not want it to get worse.

Please let me know your thoughts. I am not able to reach my homeopath right now so I am resorting to this forum. Thanks!

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Homeopaths disagree on this. Some think the antibiotics
antidote over time, so you should then be taking a low dose
of the remedy daily to keep the remedy acting.

It sounds like you are taking the remedy often so there
should not be a problem.

Ah, ok.. Yes, I take 12C daily vs the previous time I had only taken a large dose once and then got the antibiotic. So it may be ok, as you say. Thanks for your advice!
