Child who won't eat my lovely meals - help!

Hi,
I have a 2 yr old who refuses to eat any meal I put in front of him, I wouldn't mind if he didn't like it but he won't even try it. I just wondered by coming across a few homepathy posts in my google searches that homeopathy could help us?

He was 5 weeks premature, and had reflux as a baby. He used to eat when I spoon fed him but as soon as he could feed himself he stopped eating meat and veggies, we got by on omelettes for a while but even those are out the window now :(. I usually serve him up some of our dinner but always end up either not eating anything or me putting a bit of pate on toast in front of him, which is fine but not every dinner time.
He is a great sleeper.
I would love to send him to preschool with a bowl of pasta or egg and potatoes but crackers are the only thing he'll eat.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
How much protein is he getting a day? Is he having milk
daily?

Are his height and weight normal? What is the stool Like?
Does he have any kind of cravings for anything ?

Thanks for replying Simone717. He has a couple of yoghurts a day, he loves those! Sometimes a bit of omelette but thats getting rarer these days, he eats lots of fruit but obviously thats not protein. Some cheese as well.
Milk he has a bit (60-80ml) around lunchtime then around the same before bed but thats only because I want to fill him up if he hasn't eaten much.
Height and weight are a bit below normal for his age but he's showing progress on this within the last 6 months. Stools can be quite wet and mushy mostly.
Cravings - not really but he'd never say no to chocolate.

Hi,

The main concern here is that he gets enough protein a day,
and it seems that with a cup of milk , the 2 yogurts, he is
meeting that need. It is supposed to be.55 grams of protein for
each pound of weight. The general rule is 16 grams is fine for
2 year olds, and he is getting more than that.

I would suggest tho , due to his stool, and past reflux history
that you get some natrum phosphoricum Cell Salt 6x and start
giving him one tablet 2x a day after he eats. This will help
his digestion and it is indicated for the stool type he is having.
Cell salts are very mild, safe, and they have a trace mineral amount
in them and work on the interior of the cell itself to balance it
and then nutrients are absorbed optimally.

He may need another cell salt, depending on the color of his tongue-
can you describe what his tongue looks like?

For the most part, I would not fret about his eating choices right
now as along as he is getting the protein he needs. We used to
have a Dr. on here ( now retired) that had many Moms with toddlers,
and they would say the same as you. At this age, a lot of them are
picky and would rather play than eat and as long as they have
the milk, yogurt, etc they are fine.

The nat phos may balance him out and then he will naturally start
to desire other foods. You can do this for 3 weeks and then one week
off, see how the stools change, you want them formed, indicating
digestion is going well.

Let me know about the tongue and where you are and I can then
tell you where to get the cell salts.

Regards,

Simone 717

Thankyou Simone I will try what you have suggested. And I'll try not to stress so much about what he isn't eating.
Looking at his tongue it looks fine, although not as pink as mine is.
We live in Christchurch New Zealand.

Hi,

go to http://www.healthpost.co.nz and
search for Schusslers tissue salts, Nat phos-

I saw it on that site and enlarging the image it is 6x- that is
what you want. Try this out for a week and see how it goes and
if his bowels get more normal.

Simone

You may also suggest that they use a Probiotic for their son.

I have had reports in a few cases that the addition of a Probiotic which contains Bacteria not found in Yoghurt also helps in the digestive process which in this case can stimulate his need for more food.

thank you Joe, that is a good idea. Newth, you can google
childrens probiotics and try some brands, be aware that
different brands react differently on people. If he starts
having gas, and a stomach ache, then you need to switch.

The probiotics take some experimenting with to get it
right. Especially after antibiotics, MD's including a very
good homeopath MD in your town, Dr. Rosencwaig, prefers
using an 8 strain probiotic -I think Garden of Life Brand ( for kids)
has the strains he prefers.
