EFFEXOR! Somebody please answer!!

I am in University living in a dorm and I recently became very depressed being away from my friends and family. I went to student health services and saw a doctor only three times before she prescribed Effexor. I was pretty desperate to feel better so I took my first pill right away (37.5 mg). I have done MDMA (ecstacy) recreationally in the past and only a few hours affter taking Effexor, I started feeling mild exstacy-like sensations (physical, not emotional). I feel tingly, my mouth is dry, my palms are clammy, not to metion I feel a little dumb. I then did some research and found that both drugs effect serotonin reuptake. THEN I read about all the horrible withdrawl symptoms which sound exactly like an MDMA "hangover". Basically I don't like the way I feel and I can't function normally. Does anyone know if it's okay to stop after just one 37.5mg dose? Will I feel any withdrawl?

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
exstacy can have rat poison in it!!!!!!!!!! Why would you do that to your self? Severe depression is from the x. Soooo maybe you should stop doing the x and you may not need the effexor. Blue Green algae can help with both problems of depletion of vits and min and will help with depression. Please stop your recreation it can kill you!!

Thanks for your suggestion of the algea! I stopped doing extacy a few months ago but I am still depressed (hence the effexor). I really don't want to take this drug after everything I've heard about it but I'm afraid that I will have side effects if I don't take my next dose. I've only taken one 37.5 mg dose so should I expect any withdrawl?

Taking Effexor to counter the side effects of E reminds me of the song:

There was an old lady who swallowed a fly.
I dunno why she swallowed that fly,
Perhaps she'll die.

There was an old lady who swallowed a spider,
That wriggled and jiggled and wiggled inside her.
She swallowed the spider to catch the fly.
But I dunno why she swallowed that fly -
Perhaps she'll die.

There was an old lady who swallowed a bird;
How absurd, to swallow a bird!
She swallowed the bird to catch the spider
That wriggled and jiggled and wiggled inside her.
She swallowed the spider to catch the fly.
But I dunno why she swallowed that fly -
Perhaps she'll die

There was an old lady who swallowed a cat.
Imagine that, she swallowed a cat.
She swallowed the cat to catch the bird ...
She swallowed the bird to catch the spider
That wriggled and jiggled and wiggled inside her.
She swallowed the spider to catch the fly.
But I dunno why she swallowed that fly
Perhaps she'll die

There was an old lady who swallowed a dog.
What a hog! To swallow a dog!
She swallowed the dog to catch the cat...
She swallowed the cat to catch the bird ...
She swallowed the bird to catch the spider
That wriggled and jiggled and wiggled inside her.
She swallowed the spider to catch the fly.
But I dunno why she swallowed that fly
Perhaps she'll die.

There was an old lady who swallowed a goat.
Just opened her throat and swallowed a goat!
She swallowed the goat to catch the dog ...
She swallowed the dog to catch the cat.
She swallowed the cat to catch the bird ...
She swallowed the bird to catch the spider
That wriggled and jiggled and wiggled inside her.
She swallowed the spider to catch the fly.
But I dunno why she swallowed that fly
Perhaps she'll die.

There was an old lady who swallowed a cow.
I don't know how she swallowed a cow!
She swallowed the cow to catch the goat... She swallowed the goat to catch the dog...

There was an old lady who swallowed a horse -
She's dead, of course.

Sorry - to answer your question, if you've still only taken one dose - you're off it right? Otherwise, You're better off asking on:

http://www.abchomeopathy.com/forum2.php/1663/51

There's a wealth of effexor experience there - somebody will know.

Hi there, my name is Kathy and I have been on Effexor longer than I would like, a few years actually, and the withdrawls SUCK!! I got off them about 8 years ago and then I was put on them again for depression, I told the Doc that I didn't want them again, but he talked me into trying them one more time. Now I am trying to get off the *#!! ing things again...anyway to answer you question, will you have any withdrawls from just one does of Effexor (37.5 mg) No you won't , but if you take them on a daily basis after this you will....so if I were you steer clear of them, and try exercising and doing things that make you happy............and not exstacy :) good lord, I would be scared to try that, and I tried enough drugs in my life time....but not that stuff...did you know that if you do exstacy enough that it will kill the part in your brain that makes you able to feel happiness and then you will never be able to be happy ever again with out that stuff..........anyway I am off the subject.....No you won't get withdrawls after just one time.
Have a good day
Kathy
