Back Acne

i am a 21 year old female with serious back acne. I have tried acne creams and they do not work very well for me. I have heard that homeopathy could work. Would anyone be willing to help? I have no experience with homeopathic remedies.

1. Describe your main suffering. State the current location.

Main suffering is back acne, though I do get pimples on my face. I mainly get pimples on my upper back by my shoulder blades with minor pimples that trail down the spine. The pimples do form puss and come to a white head.

2. What other physical sufferings do you have in your body?

I suffer from eczema. It flares up when I'm under stress. The eczema occurs to the greatest severity on the back of my wrists.

3. What mental sufferings/feelings do you have associated with your physical sufferings?

I'm embarrassed, especially when the weather warms and I wear clothing that exposes my back. I also worry what people will think if they see it.

4. What exactly do you feel when you are at your worst? Describe the sensation in your own words.

I feel dirty and sometimes my back hurts when it rubs against my clothing/I lay down if some of the pimples have popped or come to a big head.

5. When did it all start? Can you connect it to any past event or disease?

It probably started when I was around age 13. I do not think I can connect it to any past event or disease. Maybe my eczema? My skin seems to be sensitive in that manner.

6. Which time of the day are you the worst?

It bothers me all day, but at night I guess I notice it more.

7. What are the things that aggravate your suffering and those that ameliorate the same?

Temperature aggravates the suffering. If I sweat in hot temperatures, my back acne feels worse. Sometimes if my clothing rubs against the pimples, they feel worse. I also try to eat less sugary substances when I feel I have a lot of pimples on my back, though that does not usually help much. Around the time I get my period, my acne also gets worse. When I tan in the summer, that always ameliorates my back acne and it usually totally clears up on its own. I also wash with acne washes that contain 2% salicylic acid and apply pimple cream containing benzoyl peroxide and these sometimes slightly alleviate the severity of the pimples as far as redness and frequency of occurrence is concerned.

8. Do you think your sufferings have relation to any external stimuli or any internal biological changes?

My sufferings seem to alleviate when I tan my skin in the sun during the summer months or when I swim in the ocean. The saltwater always seems to help dry them up. My sufferings always get worse a few days before my period and last at the heightened level of intensity throughout the duration of my period.

9. When do you feel better, during hot weather or cold weather, humid or dry weather?

I feel better during hot, dry weather.

10. Describe your general mental set up.

I am moody, and I am nervous in the sense that I worry about everything, and I take things people say to heart. I am not quiet, but outgoing. I am very motivated.

10a. How do you feel before or during a thunderstorm?

I love thunderstorms and eagerly anticipate them when I know they're headed to my area. During, I love hearing power of the lightning and thunder.

10b. Do you like being consoled during your tough times?

I like to deal with things privately first before I let people into the situation. I only like being consoled by one or two people who I am very close to; otherwise, I shut others out during a difficult time.

10c. Are you sensitive to external stimuli like smell, noise, light, etc?

I don't like being in very crowded/loud situations for very long. I also don't like being under bright lights for very long, particularly fluorescence.

10d. Do you have any typical habit or gestures like nail biting?

I crack my knuckles.

10e. How do you feel about your friends, family, your children and especially your husband/wife?

I am very protective of my friends and family and get very emotional when someone tries to do wrong to them. I stand up for them whenever I can. I do not trust people easily, but once I let people in, I would do anything for them. I am single and not married.

11. What are your fears and do you dream of any situation repeatedly?

I am afraid of heights, spiders, insects of any kind. My recurring dream is that I need to get myself and a friend or family member out of a situation and we quick get into a nearby car; I am in the driver's seat. As I'm trying to get away from whatever I'm escaping from (I never can remember for sure), I lose control of the car or I press the brakes as hard as I can (until the brakes are on the floor of the car) but the car won't stop and I get into a wreck.

12. What do you crave in food items and what are your aversions?

I crave sugar and sweets and spicy foods. My aversions are seafood, with the exception of shrimp, and my other aversions are Thai food/curry/Indian food.

13. How is your thirst: less, normal, excessive?

Normal.

14. How is your hunger: less, normal, excessive?

Excessive. I'm always hungry and eat little meals throughout the day or I get a headache.

15. Is there any kind of food which your body can't stand?

My stomach gets upset from spicy food, but I love it.

16. Is your sweat normal or less or more? Where does it sweat most?

Normal. Trunk. My armpits sweat the most.

17. How is your bowel movement and stool type?

Irregular. My body doesn't handle spicy foods well all of the time, but I eat it a lot.

18. How well do you sleep? Do you have a particular posture of sleeping?

Once I fall asleep, I generally stay asleep. Usually for 8 to 9 hours a night. I fall asleep usually within 30 minutes of my head hitting the pillow. I sleep on my right side, though I toss back and forth from right to left frequently throughout the night. Sometimes I sleep with one leg straight out and the other bent with the foot pointing toward my straight leg.

19. Do you think you are able to satisfy your sexual desires in general?

I am not currently in a relationship, and I have never been sexually active.

20. Do you have any strange, peculiar or unusual symptom or feelings? How are you different from others?

I'm deep, a writer. I overthink everything.

21. What medications have been taken earlier by you to treat the diseases and do you have any particular symptom surfacing after the medication?

Only the over the counter creams I mentioned above. Sometimes, they dry out parts of my skin that don't have acne. I use Cortisone cream when I have eczema and it generally clears it up if I don't itch it.

22. What major diseases are running in your family?

Essential tremors (I have this), epilepsy (my father's brother has it), diabetes (my father's mother), eczema (my brother and I have this), asthma (my brother had this), prostate disease (my father's father)

23. Describe how you look.

I am 5'2'. Brown eyes, brown hair. Hair is not straight but not curly, more wavy. I am petite and slender, only weigh around 100 pounds.

24. If your menstrual cycles are not normal, please describe the irregularities.

I am not regular. Sometimes I skip when I am stressed. Usually, I am just a few days later than when I am due to get it. I go through mood swings when on my period. I have a heavy flow.

25. What major diseases have you had in your life and when. List chronologically.

I've had eczema since I was a baby. I've had the essential tremor since a toddler. It mostly just shows up as shaky hands, particularly when I'm nervous.

Can you please answer a few more questions regarding your acne and eczema related symptoms?

- Sensations you feel on the affected part when it is worst. Like itching, burning, paining etc.

-How does the eczema afffected part look? What's the colour and roughness of the surface, texture etc.

-Is the eczema dry always?

-Does the eczema form some kind of dry scales or wet discharge etc.

When my acne is at its worst I feel pain. When my eczema is at its worst I feel itching and burning. Right now my eczema is inactive and the skin is just a lighter pigment from where the scars tainted my skin. When the eczema flairs up, it becomes wet and discharges pus if I itch it too much. This is usually when I use the cortisone cream because it not only itches, but the skin burns. When it's not oozing from me itching it, it is red and bumpy, almost a leathery feeling.

You have written you don't have any experience with homeopathy so you must read this very carefully and follow all instructions.

Your complaints are chronic and slowly developed over the years, hence don't expect homeopathy to cure it overnight. Things will improve slowly and hopefully in a few weeks you will notice an appreciable improvement in all your symptoms.

You need to take weekly doses of SILICEA 200C.

Take the dose on every sunday / or your weekly off day first thing in the morning. One dose would be 3 drops of remedy in about a table spoon of water slowly sipped up in empty stomach. Go back to sleep for another hour or two without taking anything else in your mouth. Let the remedy get enough time to get absorbed in your mouth. Don't take any food or water after taking the dose for an hour atleast.

Get the remedy of a reputed brand in the liquid form.

Abstain from coffee, mint and strong aromatic perfumes during every sunday and monday.

Hopefully you will notice improvements in all your symptoms within a month, after a few dose of silicea.

Come back to me after a month and give me all changes you see.

Forgot to tell you an important point. In case, after taking a dose or two, any of your symptoms aggravate, especially your eczema, then stop the doses till everything comes back to normal. You may see a flare-up of eczema if you are sensitive to potencies. Don't panic, just stop taking the remedy and you will see things will start improving from there.

Thank you. I have read about homeopathy and I have a concern. I have the Silicea 200 and 30c in pellet form. Should I be starting with such a high dose? Also I have read about Silicea and how it pushes things out of the body. I have recently had a root canal and crown. Will this do harm to these artificial things in my mouth? Thank you

You can start with 30C and see if it produces a response. But I feel single doses per week should not cause any aggravation of eczema. Silicea works best in higher potencies so I suggested very infrequent doses.

I never had experience with any patient taking SILICEA who had undergone root canal, so will not make any comment.

Anyone willing to offer their expertise on my root canal question? It is a concern that will prevent me from going forward.
