33 and suffering from weak knees

Hello, I have been advised by a friend that i may find expert advice on how to fix my knee problems. I played football regularly and over time felt my knee aching. After a few weeks it eventually seized up with sharp pains running through and around my knee when bent to a certain degree. Over the next few weeks I had a constant ache 24/7 and the sharp pain remained when was bent with weight on it. It has also had constant swelling throughout this time. I had the same injury a few years back and after lots of visits to the dr's, hospital and physio found the only healer was time which was some length. I was hoping that possibly anyone had any advice to help so I don't have to wait so long again to play my beloved sport. Any help would be much appreciated.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Have you consulted an orthopedist for this, if yes, what was his diagnosis. Was any x-ray or MRI done.

The first time I had the injury I went to the dr's and hospital in which I had X-rays which apparently didn't show anything and then was advised physio. All of which seemed a waste of time as didn't get any answers hence being the reason I havnt gone down that road this time

Consult an orthopedist and get a proper diagnosis to know what's going on. It would be unwise to treat without that.
