I self prescribe....made myself worse???

I am desperate to gain peace so I research online and self prescribe now maybe I am worse? I am taking Pulsatilla200c, Nat Mur 30c, Sepia 30c in the morning periodically Sometimes Rhus Tox and Coffea Cruda. I feel lost and hopeless. Initially Sepia 30c did work for 1 month but then relapse so from desperation I take many things. I had bad childhood. Mother ignored me I was sexually abused by her boyfriend. My first husband had affair left me with one young son. Second husband was sexually aggressive in past but much calmer now. I appreciate his effort and want to please him sexually but have no desire. I want to cry all the time. I hate my life bc my experience with mom. I do everything opposite from her. I look in mirror and see the same genetics features as her and I want plastic surgery to change my face bc I hate her I can't accept I have same genetics. She is selfish, greedy manipulative. I recently sever all contact with her hoping for peace. I feel I fail my current husband. I want passion and sex for us but inadequacy depression anxiety cause me to fail desire. My body now fails me as I am always tired. Muscles cramps/sore. Positional vertigo in my left ear with nystagmus occurs about every ten months for 4 years now. I am 42 years old but I feel over 80. I suppose I must stop taking all the remedies by self diagnose and wait for proper help. I feel desperate .

Yes you may be making yourself worse. Do not self-prescribe. You can make yourself incurable if you are not careful. It is better to take none of our medicines at all, than to try self-prescribing for your chronic complaints. You will not be able to find the right medicine yourself. Not even an experienced homoeopath can find their own medicine.

Evocationer 9 years ago
I did order the Sulphur 200c will not arrive for several days. But, if I take nothing, nothing at all, how long do I wait until symptoms clear? When can I get help from homeopath to try again? My childhood torments me. I don't like the way I look in mirror bc I look like my mother.....how do I get over that emotional pain? I want to push myself through this but I don't know how to let go of what happened to me.

Epidendrum 9 years ago
It won't be by self-prescribing. You can harm yourself this way. Your symptoms will not clear by self-prescribing, and you could add more symptoms and make your current symptoms worse. It is better to avoid using our medicines completely if you have no one competent to guide you.

If you give a full and complete case, a homoeopath may be able to prescribe a suitable homoeopathic medicine (based on the whole case). Did you want a list of questions you can use to do this. I can provide those.

Yes I will do the questions. I have no homeopathic providers close to where I live

HOW TO DESCRIBE YOUR COMPLAINTS (Physical Components)

In homoeopathy, prescription is based on precise details of various symptoms from which you suffer. To tell or write to a homoeopathic physician 'I have a headache ', ' an eruption ' or “a cough” would not be enough. If you inform him 'I have headache with sharp shooting pains in the left side of the head and temple, these pains always come on when the slightest cold air strikes the head. I feel better by pressing the head very hard.” Then only you have given all the information required for making a good homoeopathic prescription. The success of the prescription depends; largely on how detailed your description of the symptoms is.
We require the following details about your symptoms.

LOCATION: Please give the exact location of sensation, pain or eruption. Also describe where the pain or sensation spreads.

SENSATION: Express the type of sensation or the pain that you get in your own words however simple or funny it may seem. You may have a sensation that a mouse is crawling or the heart was grasped by an iron hand or you may have a pain that is cutting, burning jerking, pressing. Express the sensation or pain as it feels to you. Try to explain the whole sensation in the exact way it is happening and not just the word. We need to understand the whole process of the sensation as it is happening to you.

WHAT MAKES YOU WORSE OR BETTER:

Many factors are likely to influence your complaint. Some factors may intensify it and some factors may relieve the trouble. A detailed list of the factors is given at the end. Please refer it while describing each of your troubles and indicate which factors make the complaint better or worse.

DISCHARGES: You may have a discharge from nose, ears, mouth, eyes, ulcers, fistula, eruptions on skin, private parts, etc. Please describe your discharge in detail including colour, consistency, appearance, odour etc.

1] Your Complaint:

(Use your own words as far as possible, but if you have recognized or diagnosed the condition, give this information also.) By answering as many of these questions as fully as possible, you are helping me to understand what your body and unconscious mind is conveying. This can help me find a remedy for you.)
• What is your complaint?
• When did the complaint begin?
• Where is it located?
• What sort of sensations (and emotions) do you associate with it?

• Does anything make it better or worse?
• How does it bother you? How is it coming in way of your day-to-day life?
• How does it feel like to have this/these problem/s?
• What is the effect of this/these problem/s on you?
• Did any event happen which caused the complaint? Describe the emotion associated with it.
• What are the other symptoms started with it, esp. mental and physical symptoms, which are not directly related to the main complaint.
• What are your reactions with it?

PLEASE ANSWER THESE QUESTIONS FOR EACH SYMPTOM/COMPLAINT SEPARATELY. DO NOT INCLUDE ALL OF YOUR COMPLAINTS TOGETHER IN EACH QUESTION.

Mental and Emotional State Description

1. What are the issues in your life that bother you the most. Not physical issues but mental or emotional ones. List each one separately and describe why each one bothers you so much. 1anxiety about looking like my mother bc she is/was such a horrible mother to me 2depression about being sick often bc i feel i have failed my family when i dont feel well. 3fear of others caring for me bc I always had to care or myself growing up

2. What emotions are the most troublesome for you? What situations provoke these emotions. How do these emotions make you act? Do you feel any ill effects from expressing or not expressing these emotions. Anxiety/worry over a life situation that my family/friends are currently experiencing. It makes my head feel full of air yet heavy. Nausea. Hypoxic feeling. I suppress my reactions

3. What incidents in your life have had a deep impact on you? Describe each incident in detail and how they made you feel? What did you do in those situations? What effect have they had on your life? -My mother left me at home to care for myself while he was with boyfriends. One of her boyfriends molested me. I kept it to myself while growing up. Recently my mother was in charge of caring for my dying grandpa. It was bad I felt as though my grandpas weak deteriorated body was a representation of me when I was younger. It greatly upset me. She inherited alot of money from his death which made my opinion of her worse as a greedy lethal pig. I told her what happened to me growing up and I no longer wanted any form of contact with her. I had always wanted her affection as a child and chased after it for years. Now I hate her for the time I wasted trying to get her acceptance.

4. What are you afraid of? Especially important are phobias, but it might be objects, situations or events that just produce a high level of anxiety. How do you manage your fears? How do you react when confronted with these fears? What would be the worst situation for you to be put in that would provoke these fears? You may need to talk about each fear/anxiety separately.- I am afraid of looking and sounding like my mother. I raised my children in total opposite of what my mom did. I stay at home. I homeschool. I make sure they know I am always there for them. My face looks like my mother so I want to have eye surgery. I keep my hair a different color from her.

What exactly does it feel like is happening in your body?- The base of my skull and forehead is constant dull headache. Neck shoulders feel contracted constantly. I roll my neck alot. All of my joints ache. Shoulders knees base of spine. About once every ten months I get awful vertigo in ear with spinning eye movement that last a couple weeks

8. When you experience your fears, persistent thoughts, or difficult emotions, what kind of sensation or reactions do you get in your body? -Pain in joints . stiffness in neck muscles. Head feels heavy but wavy like full of air hypoxic.

If you imagine the complete opposite of this feeling or moment, what would that be like? --my best was when I had a small farm with chickens/goats/garden and my kids were small and so funny to watch. It was joy then. To imagine the opposite is what I feel now....I live in the city my kids are teenagers and don't need me that much anymore

10. Do you feel like you are stuck in a pattern of behavior, especially when trying to deal with your problems? What is this pattern? --when I hear of distress in a friends/family life I get tense lightheaded hypoxic. Headache follows. I am stuck with insomnia can't sleep wake up 5/6 times a night

11. What difficulties or problems do you have in relationships? Talk about your family, your romantic relationships, your spouse or partner, your friends, and your work colleagues. You may need to talk about all of these separately. -- I love my husband but am easily hurt when he talks insensitive. I am afraid of menopause and losing my libido. My husband is caring but tough which I perceive as callous at times. My kids are the most awesome things I ever made in life and I would give my life for them

14. Do you have any reoccurring dreams? Describe them in detail, including any feelings that come while dreaming. --dreams of alligators. Earthquake or stomach that passes between myself and my kids. Finding one of my cats hurt with limp bodies panic to take them to vet quickly. These dreams make my heart feel racey thumping

15. Did you have any reoccurring dreams as a child, or earlier in your life? Describe those in detail including any feelings that came with them. --alligators, earthquake, storms coming between me and my children. I felt panic.

I fought over food with my brother. I felt my brother resented being left in charge of me. • What is your complaint? 1. Depression. 2. Anxiety. 3. Recurring vertigo. 4. Joint pain
• When did the complaint begin? 1. Depression has been my whole life strongest after childbirth with postpartum. 2. Anxiety started about 5 years ago. 3. Vertigo started about 5 years ago. 4. Joint pain started about year ago
• Where is it located?- Vertigo is benign positional vertigo from octoconia in my ears. Joints are my knees/shoulders/low spine
• What sort of sensations (and emotions) do you associate with it?--vertigo associates extreme anxiety. Joint pain is sadness/failure

• Does anything make it better or worse? -depression/anxiety is worse when a problem arises. Vertigo is worse when I try to sleep. Joint pain is stronger when I try to sleep or exercise
• How does it bother you? How is it coming in way of your day-to-day life? -- depression/anxiety makes me not want to be social or make bonds. Vertigo completely isolates me as I have extreme nausea , no balance, spinning eye movement. Joint pain limits my yard work and chores
• How does it feel like to have this/these problem/s? -- it feels overwhelming
• What is the effect of this/these problem/s on you? -- depression anxiety is increased greatly
• Did any event happen which caused the complaint? Describe the emotion associated with it. --depression from childhood life. Anxiety from worry about caring for myself and family. Also from the death of my grandpa as my mother neglected him as a caregiver and he suffered from her actions....similar as I suffered from her actions as a child . Vertigo hits suddenly without warning.
• What are the other symptoms started with it, esp. mental and physical symptoms, which are not directly related to the main complaint.
• What are your reactions with it?--depression anxiety is fear mostly. I am closer to menopause fear of losing intimacy. Depressed that aging makes my face lookalike my mother. Vertigo is extreme anxiety like total loss of control and dependent on my husband. Joint pains are sadness that my whole life was sadness and pain and it lives in my body and I can't let it go

Looking over the whole case, I have to say that Nat-mur actually does seem to fit you quite well. If I look at the follow rubrics:

Ailments from disappointment, especially old disappointment
Ailments from being neglected by one's mother
Dwells on past disappointments
Recalls disagreeable memories
Fear of being hurt, fear of hurting others
Fear of being rejected

... this brings Nat-mur to my mind quite strongly.

One of the major themes of this remedy is the theme of identity. Nat-mur chooses to reject a particular identity and go to the opposite end or side. It also reflects the theme of being left alone by their mother, and left to fend for themselves emotionally. Nat-mur holds on to the past, cannot let go of hurt, feels betrayed and neglected.

Based on the amount of repression in your life, I would actually prescribe 1M, not 30c. It is hard to know if Nat-mur even did anything mixed in with those other remedies, but 30c would not be the right potency for your case.

Along a very similar line is the remedy Ammonium muriaticum (Am-mur). This remedy has a some similar themes to Nat-mur but the sense of hatred and bitterness is stronger. I would be tempted to try that should Nat-mur not produce the desire response.

However, the case is a bit muddled. It looked like multiple remedies, and I think that is happening because you are taking multiple remedies (or have been) and they have changed your case.

Yes I took multiple remedies out of desperation to get rid of the strong emotions. I had done well with Sepia 30c in the past but the death of my grandpa 8 months ago brought on the powerfully strong feelings of my mother back to the surface. She resented caring for him often yelling at him, shoving food in his mouth, laughing at him when he was hallucinating from hypoxia from lung disease. I felt she treated me the same way as a child. She would often leave me at my grandpas house while she went out so I had a good relationship with my grandparents and I hate that she treated him that way. I severed all communication with her and now am aggravated with myself at all the opportunity in life I missed bc I felt I needed to live by her to get her approval. Now I feel the opportunity to travel is hindered bc of getting sick all the time and the fear of the sudden vertigo. I feel a bit better since stopping all the remedies except for brief episodes during the day I feel I want to heave with crying which I repress. I try to slow my breath and tell myself it will pass. Still no sleep. I will order the Nat Mur 1M what is the dosing schedule? How much and how often? And I say thank you so very much for taking time to help. Thank you.

If you are a sensitive person, I would not start with Nat Mur 1M-

I would start with one dose of Nat Mur 200c. I have seen several
people, with a lot of suppressed grief, who are SENSITIVE- get
a prescriptions of Nat mur 1M and get knocked out of their body
for 2 to 3 weeks where they could not function or feel normal.

I advised all these people to get a Shiatsu massage, which works
the spine and de-toxes you, and after the massage they were
back to normal-however, they never wanted to try homeopathy again,
as it was a scary experience.

There is no harm in trying a 200c and see what effect that has before
going up to 1M.

simone717 9 years ago
Okay I have ordered the Nat Mur 200c in pellets. I will take one pellet on empty stomach in the morning and then let you know. Thanks so much

Epidendrum 9 years ago
I would do this as a water dose. Dissolve 3 pills in a quarter cup of
water and take one tsp. out as one dose. Refrain from eating or
drinking a half hour before or after. If emotions come up, let them
come up bc they are coming out and they will pass.

simone717 9 years ago
There are particular indications for 1M which were given in your case. I do not choose that potency lightly, and I do so out of my experience in clinic.

The sensitivity of the patient is NOT the consideration for potency selection. The dosage method is how we manage that. In fact, in this case, it is the level of repression and denial that would suggest 1M. There appears to be no specific issue with low vitality here. I am not saying 200c would not also help, but I wanted to try to aim as accurately first time as possible.

It is actually my experience that lower potencies of the CORRECT remedy will cause more aggravation in patients who need higher potencies, not the other way around.

It is important that if you want me to manage your case you follow my advice. While I am willing to admit I can make mistakes, there is no reason to assume I have made one at the outset.

I put a fair few hours into each case I take on in this forum, and I do spend time considering what potency might get the best results.

Dosage must be done as follows however.

If you buy pellets, you need to also obtain a small bottle with a dropper. Mix alcohol and water in this bottle to the ratio of 1:5. Dissolve 2 pellets into this. All doses will come from this bottle from now on.

For each dose takes these steps.

1. Hit the bottle firmly against the palm of the hand 5 times.

2. Place 3 drops into 100mls of water.

3. Stir thoroughly

4. Take 2 teaspoons out into the mouth and hold for 20 seconds.

5. Swallow.

Do this once only, and report any changes by the end of 7 days.

I originally ordered 1M Nat Mur but changed my order when you asked if I am a sensitive person bc I am sensitive so the order was changed to 200c Nat Mur in pellets. I can order another Nat Mur in 1M also order in liquid so I don't need to mix it. I am again extremely distraught as it is 2 in the morning and I awoke with the vertigo and room spinning eye movements. I don't understand why this is recurring. I have an appointment tomorrow with a vestibular therapist that will do the Epley manuever But I am now completely at the mercy of other people to care for me bc the spinning I cannot gain balance. It is so debilitating that I fel I prefer death

Hi- You can get the over the counter sea sickness medicine, Bonine
and try that. I have known people who have had this and had every
test and nothing was wrong-It can be caused by something as minor
as a micro drop of water on a hair of the inner ear. These people
were then told to take Bonine and the vertigo subsided after a couple days.

simone717 9 years ago
Yes I have the bonine. The doctors say the cause is particles in the inner ear called octoconia that break loose and roll around inside my ear. The bonine does help with nausea but the spinning and balance continues as the particles roll around. I am dependent on others bc as I am walking it feel the floor and walls are moving as well so I bump into them. It is so distressing. I am hoping that addressing my whole person with homeopathy will stop it from recurring. I took a Melatonin half milligram to try help with sleep then the spinning struck again at 1:30-200am. Maybe is the melatonin? Or because I am overly tired? I truly appreciate everyone's help and concern on the forum.

Have you had the Epley maneuver done on you before?

You know they have You tubes showing it and I had one
person on here just do it himself from the You tube-

The Epley is supposed to get those Crystals to roll back
where they belong.

simone717 9 years ago
Sometimes I can do the Epley myself. With this episode the eye movement are so strong when I try to do it myself I fall off the bed or roll backwards so the Epley fails and I end up worse. Tomorrow is my appointment for them to do the Epley at physical therapy. This episode has been recurrent for 3 weeks....just when I think I am over it it comes back. And the attacks come about every ten months and last a few weeks. It's frustrating bc I have heard other people have the Epley and never get it again. I wish I knew why it comes back. I am a high stress sensitive person and the situation with my mother gives me daily heartache :(

Hi-

I did not realize when I first read this thread that page one was for
some reason not showing up- so did not see that Evocationer took
your case in detail.
I posted bc I did not agree with the Nat mur potency- I still don't
agree with it, but you have to follow one person at a time.

Evocationer will have to talk to you about your prescriptions and
symptoms.

On your mother-the problem is when you are a child you will
get used to whatever behavior is going on around you and
you cannot of course understand that your mother has a mental illness-
probably a personality disorder. So often in families where one
person has a mental illness but is functioning, family members even
when they KNOW the person has an illness that has been diagnosed-
still want that person to act 'normal' and are hurt by the continuing
disregard, cruelty, callous , irrational, random, you name it
behavior.

Bc people have known these people all their life, it is hard to wrap
your head around the fact that- 'oh, yes, they do this bc they
are mentally ill in some way 'and many times do not appear to
have something wrong with them, but they Do have something wrong
with them.

It is not your fault of course that your mother is not right. She is
a very toxic person and there is not much you can do about that-
But once you really understand that the person is actually ill, it
takes the sting out of it and you can get to a place where you
can put them into God's hands or a higher power,( whatever your
spiritual orientation is) When you think of them. Bc even with
the remedy helping, at some point you have to shut the door on
thinking of the past . In other words, that part of your life is over,
it happened, it was bad, it was not your fault your mother is sick,
going over it does nothing for you once you have processed your grief.

I don't think you are there yet,but when you are, you shut the door.
I say this bc I see people in counseling for 20 years still talking
about what was done to them-and the talking just brings it all up
over again( after they have worked thru grief a long time ago).

You will get there-the remedy will be a huge help.

Actually I thought I was responding to Evocationer. The vertigo makes my eyes very sensitive to both light and motion so I didn't really see that it was from a different poster. I agree that I should stay with Evocationer and the original remedy I have ordered online. I am sorry about the confusion. I also agree with your words about my mother and my need to shut the door. The emotions were hugely reopened when my mother was caring for my dying grandpa and the situations felt parallel. The harshness she had with my grandpa was the same as what I grew up with . I am praying the remedy Evocationer prescribed will help me move forward. I owe Evocationer an apology I really thought I was talking with the same person because my vision was hindered. I am anxious for the remedy to arrive and will post how it goes.

It's alright I wasn't trying to reprimand anyone, just emphasizing my preference. No apologies are necessary. Simone is a very active member on this forum and frequently jumps in to help out, both patients and practitioners. I just feel she was a little overzealous this time, but there are no hard feelings over it.

If you have ordered 200c that is fine. I am sure it will still have a beneficial effect if it is the correct remedy. We can work from that point with little trouble.
