raised white foliate papillae on lingual tonsil

I am an otherwise healthy 48 year old female. a weel ago I took a sip of warmed green tea soy protein drink and immediately felt an intense "chalky" discomfort to my lingual tonsil (sides of my tongue)and teeth - somethinglike burning my tongue even though the tea was not that hot and it was only the sides of my tongue.
I liked at my tongue immediately in the mirror and discovered that
tiny white bumps had sprouted just along the sides of my tongue. They are still there a week later along with the annoying chalky sensation on tongue and teeth. Any idea of the cause or a cure?

Hi - I have no picture of it. It cleared up on it's own after a week. But I am still curious about the cause
in case it appears again.

your problem is completely allergic.

I have never had an allergic reaction to soy or green tea before. My guess is it was something in the soy drink. I don't want to repeat the experiment particularly though. Any suggestions?

HIlary, and others,

PLEASE HELP!! I have the exact same symptoms as you did, after drinking the tea, only I have it 24/7. Raised papillae on the sides of my tongue, irritated feeling inside upper teeth. this causes me to have to rub my tongue inside my upper teeth constantly and I'm going nuts. 3 dentists have no clue what's going on. This CONSTANT irrritation of my tongue is driving me nuts. Please clue me in if you can, thanks.

Dorkus -
My situation cleared up after a week and I suspect that dr.deoshlok sharma is correct. It was an allergic reaction to something in this soy protein drink. The drink was Bolthouse Farms Perfectly Protein Vanilla Chai. I don't think it was the green tea itself because I drink that all the time with no problem. I think it was one of the chai spices or the soymilk that caused the reaction for me. Did your condition immediately follow an drinking green tea?

Hi!ohh! I'm so happy that I found this forum...

I recently had my check-up with my EENT doctor and she found a 'cyst' on the posterior part of my tongue. It's slightly larger than my uvula and appears to be compact / hard...

she told me that it's 'benign' but I still need to monitor for a possibility of surgery... (yikes!) I would like to ask for your comment / insight about this! Thanks ... :)

God bless!

PS: I ate small bits of chocolate( Milo haha) and I'm quite allergic to it, too. hmm... pls help me! :)
