sulphur dosage?

I had a homeopath do a constitutional case on me about two years ago. She was deciding between Nat Mur and Sulphur. We tried the Nat Mur but ultimately I stopped because it affected my sleep.

I am still sensitive to remedies but not as sensitive as I was and I think the sulphur is appropriate for me even more now. I do not have the money to do another consult at the time and wondered if anyone could recommend dosing for sulphur in a constitutional way?
I have 30c and am sensitive. I just wasn't sure if I should do one dose or a dose a dat for multiple days in a row?

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Don't self prescribe. This almost always leads to trouble. I will do your case as well as your son's.

Sulphur specifically causes more trouble than any other remedy when used by self prescribers, and it more easily grafts itself on to a person's system.

Constitutional pictures change over time. Your constitution is not a remedy - it is a variable state with a number of potential manifestations, which correspond to remedies. As it is treated with various remedies (at the right time) your constitution becomes more healthy, and manifests fewer diseases, less frequently.

Alright, I will wait then. Is the information you need for me the same as you needed for my son?

No an adult questionnaire is a lot more complex.

CASE PRESENTATION FOR CLASSICAL HOMOEOPATHIC PRESCRIBING

General Guidelines:

1. Try to be as descriptive as possible. When describing pains or sensations use descriptions along the lines of ‘feels as if someone is squeezing it with their hand’ or ‘it is like an insect crawling around inside’ or ‘it is as if someone is standing over me threatening to kill me’. Long descriptions are always better than short ones. One word answers are difficult to use successfully.

2. Another important part of symptom description for homoeopathy are the ‘modalities’. These are situations, events, activities or conditions which modify the symptom in some way. We usually refer to this as what makes them ‘better’ or ‘worse’ (amelioration/aggravation). The situation may actually provoke the symptom into appearing, make it vanish altogether, or just increase or decrease it in some way. Modalities are vital information for prescribing.

Modalities are typically related to (but not exclusively) the following situations:

A. Temperature, weather
B. Time (day, night, specific times, frequency, periodicity, season)
C. Position, activity
D. Emotions, thoughts
E. Food and drink
F. Drugs, medication

3. How the symptom is perceived is important too – odour, appearance, sound, touch. What colour is it, what is its texture? For gestures, describe what it looks like the patient is doing, or what you feel you are doing while making the movement eg. ‘they look like they are swatting flies’ or ‘I feel like something is pushing my hand upwards’ or ‘it is like I stick a fork in an electrical outlet which throws my body backwards’. Description – it is key to accurate prescriptions.

4. When did the symptom or set of symptoms start? The apparent cause can be useful in determining the remedy, although it is not of the same importance as the previous factors. It may have been a specific event, a disease, an accident or even an emotional experience.

5. Use your own words. Do not copy phrases or descriptions found in our various remedy pictures. Try not to use other people’s ideas or thoughts or words. If you are reporting on behalf of someone else, report their exact words, however you can also report your own observations of them (not opinions).

6. Does the symptom occur alongside another specific symptom? Do particular symptoms only occur together? Does a particular symptom occur with a particular thought or emotion? For example, a headache that always comes with visual disturbances, or stomach pain that appears alongside anger, or anxiety that makes you feel like running down the street screaming.

7. Each complaint should be described fully before going on to describe another complaint. Try not to mix different symptoms or complaints together. Each modifying feature must be clearly attached to a particular symptom/set of symptoms. Any mistake you make here is a mistake the homoeopath will also then make.

BEFORE MOVING ON TO THE NEXT SET OF QUESTIONS, DO THIS NOW FOR EACH PHYSICAL PROBLEM YOU HAVE.

MENTAL AND EMOTIONAL DESCRIPTION

(Please spend the most time on this section and give DETAILED answers - the homoeopathic remedy is very often decided on the basis of the mental and emotional state of the patient !)

1. What are the issues in your life that bother you the most. Not physical issues but mental or emotional ones. List each one separately and describe why each one bothers you so much.

2. What emotions are the most troublesome for you? What situations provoke these emotions. How do these emotions make you act? Do you feel any ill effects from expressing or not expressing these emotions.

3. What incidents in your life have had a deep impact on you? Describe each incident in detail and how they made you feel? What did you do in those situations? What effect have they had on your life?

4. What are you afraid of? Especially important are phobias, but it might be objects, situations or events that just produce a high level of anxiety. How do you manage your fears? How do you react when confronted with these fears? What would be the worst situation for you to be put in that would provoke these fears? You may need to talk about each fear/anxiety separately.

5. What hobbies do you have? Why do you like each of these activities?

6. Do you have any persistent thoughts, ideas or beliefs that are difficult to stop or cope with? What are they?

7. Do you have any unusual gestures or movements of the body? Do you feel any unusual sensation or pain throughout your body? What exactly does it feel like is happening in your body?

8. When you experience your fears, persistent thoughts, or difficult emotions, what kind of sensation or reactions do you get in your body?

9. When did you feel at your best in your life? What was that like for you? If you imagine the complete opposite of this feeling or moment, what would that be like?

10. Do you feel like you are stuck in a pattern of behavior, especially when trying to deal with your problems? What is this pattern? THIS IS AN IMPORTANT QUESTION PLEASE CONSIDER CAREFULLY AND GIVE DETAILS.

11. What difficulties or problems do you have in relationships? Talk about your family, your romantic relationships, your spouse or partner, your friends, and your work colleagues. You may need to talk about all of these separately.

12. List 5 positive things about yourself. Are there any situations where this positive attribute becomes negative (is a problem)?

13. List 5 negative things about yourself. Are there any situations where this negative attribute becomes positive (is useful)?

14. Do you have any reoccurring dreams? Describe them in detail, including any feelings that come while dreaming. Dreams are very important in unlocking the deepest truth of a patient’s case, but it is not enough to simply describe them in a sentence. Give as much information as you feel comfortable doing.

15. Did you have any reoccurring dreams as a child, or earlier in your life? Describe those in detail including any feelings that came with them.

16. What were you like as a child, your character, your personality, your fears, your dreams, your problems?

17. What kind of environment did you grow up in? What problems where there at home, with your family, with your parents, with your siblings, with school?

Symptoms may be divided into two categories:

1. Symptoms which they more or less have all the time
I have a lot of skin issues.
-Flat warts on my hands. They are small and spread quickly. Some are red and the ones on the palm are white. They are small and smooth and round. I have had them for over three years and for a while was getting them frozen off. Now I get rid of them with topical vitamin A. It does take like a month of applying it for them to go away. They are coming less now, because of the vitamin A. When a new one comes up, it will usually be red and sensitive to the touch. Then as it gets bigger it stops being sensitive. I have tried a few does of dulcamara and nitricum acidum, both at the suggestion of a homeopath I did acutes with. Neither worked.
-Itchy eyes. Mainly at the outside corners. The left is worse. Worse in morning. Better after washing them. Sometimes leads to conjunctivitis.
-Headache. I get a headache 2-3 times a week. Almost always in the evening. It is worse if I lay my head on like a hard pillow. It seems the pressure on the back of my head makes it worse. Driving also makes it worse. Its hard for me to describe the pain, but I think it is pulsating. More on the top/back of the head. Sometimes it accompanies this strained feeling behind my eyes. It feels like the muscles behind my eyes are tired and hard to move them around. A lot of times my face will also flush when I have a headache and skin will feel almost a little burned on my cheeks and across my nose. Sometimes my forehead as well.
-Large callous under my left big toe.
-Small pustules on eye lids (eye lid margins). This happens at night while I'm lying in bed, pretty much every night. I will look in the mirrir because it will feel like sand in my eye when I blink and I will notice little bumps that look like pimples. They happen both eyes, but only the upper lids. They are always gone in the morning.
-Lips are dry and cracked. Mainly just the bottom one though.
- I get skin outbreaks along my hairline. Not really anywhere else though.
-I get heat flashes. Mainly to my face. Escpecially if I get nervous or embarrassed. I have always flushed red in the face very easily, especially from being embarrassed. I used to get anxiety about getting embarrassed because of how red my face would get.
2. Symptoms appearing as acute but come more than once.
-Conjunctivitis. This is my most recent, frequently occuring acute symptom. The left happens more often. Only once in right eye. Since March of this year, it began happening whenever I would wear eye makeup. I now do not wear any anymore. But it has happened after not wearing makeup also. There isn't really pus or anything like that. My eye will look bloodshot and the veins will be really pronounced. It will feel like there is a stabbing pain in my eye. It will water excessively. The first time it happened, I got rid of it with antibiotics. Then when it happend again, I used my own breastmilk to get rid of it. Now whenever it happens, I use my breastmilk to get rid of it.
-Occasionally I will awake with a stabbing pain in my eye, usually the left. It will literally feel like someone is taking a needle and poking it over and over again into my eye. It has happened a few times and always in the middle of the night. The first time was in the middle of my pregnancy with my baby, who is now 14 months old.
-Heat rash. This symptom has been happening since 2008. It almost always happens if I get too hot in bed in the middle of the night. However, it can also happen if my clothes are too tight and I get a flash of heat, which I often do. The only spot I get it is on my buttocks/lower back area. It is also almost always on the left side. I know it is trapped sweat because it will be little fluid filled bumps that itch and burn. The only way to get rid of the itch is by releasing the trapped fluid.
-In summer time, I get what I thought was athletes foot on my left foot toes. But there is no peeling or redness. It is just really itchy. The heat of the summer makes it worse, like if my feet are sweating a lot.
-I have had a few boils from ingrown hairs from waxing. Both times I tried to get rid of it with warm compresses and this only made it much worse.
-I have had a couple styes that got bad enough to need antibiotics. I've realized, for me, if I apply a warm compress, it only makes it much worse so I will never apply a heated compress anywhere on my body now.
-I get cold sores on my bottom lip. Again, it is the left side of my bottom lip.
-I get occasional hemmorhoids. They were terrible toward the end of my pregnancy, and during delivery they got very large and painful. About 5 months ago, I went for a job interview where I just had to stand still for about 5 hours. I felt terrible after that. I woke up in the middle of the night and had terrible hemmorhoids that seemed to come out of nowhere, but I know it had to do with the standing. My joints in my legs also hurt terrible, as well as my back. I'm only 30, I should be able to stand up in one position for a while without having these issues. It worries me for when I need to work in the future.
-Occasional anxiety. That just makes me feel a little nervous like in the stomach. Not often though.

-Since I've began a spiritual journey, this question has changed greatly. I believe it is this spiritual journey that has led me to homeopathy and wanting to heal through making my own inner light stronger, as opposed to just trying to remove these symptoms allopathically. My own life is not of a worry to me much anymore. I now only worry for the lives of my loved ones. I strive to help my children be as healthy as they possible can. I have released much of my own inner pain through my spiritual journey. However, I do still hold on to some worry of what others may think of me. Sometimes my mind is still insecure in this way. Sometimes my mind will create images that frighten me of something negative happening to my children. I try to stay present in my body when this happens, but I still get a little sick in my stomach and some anxiety arises.

2. What emotions are the most troublesome for you? What situations provoke these emotions. How do these emotions make you act? Do you feel any ill effects from expressing or not expressing these emotions.
-Not much makes me angry, but if I do get angry I may get a headache after it from the rush of adrenaline in my body.

3. What incidents in your life have had a deep impact on you? Describe each incident in detail and how they made you feel? What did you do in those situations? What effect have they had on your life?
-I do not like confrentation. I do not like there to be unrest or unresolved issues with the people I care about it my life. If there is a problem, I like to clear it up immediately or I cannot think of anything else but the issue, it would drive me nuts.

-Since I used to not take very good care of myself prior to my pregnancy with my son, I developed some hypochondria. Anything that would happen to me, I would literally think I was dying or my body was ruined for good. I am a little better about that, but I feel this is a result of my spiritual pursuit and not necessarily a shift in my vital force which I believe is necessary for my ultimate health.
-I also used to be very afraid of anything paranormal. I used to get afraid of ghosts and things when I laid in my bed at night. Recently. this has lessened. Also, I used to be afraid of people breaking into my home when I was home alone. I used to go over in my mind what I would do if it happened, because my husband goes out of town for his job a lot and I am home with the children. After I took a few doses of the Nat Mur, that surprisingly went away.
-In terms of phobia, I do not like enclosed spaces or heights. I also have a bit of a fear of medicines, or anything that can affect my state of being. This started when I started having a chemical sensitivity. Sometimes I fear it will affect me to greatly. I also have this fear toward homeopathic remedies, since I had a really bad aggravation once.

5. What hobbies do you have? Why do you like each of these activities?
-I like to bake sourdough bread and now I like to work out. I used to think working out was such a chore because I was always tired, but now I love it. My energy is much better because I used to be vegetarian and also didn't eat dairy. Over the past year I have changed my eating, I do not eat any grains unless they have been fermented like natural sourdough. Also, I eat healthy meats, like grass fed beef and also grass fed dairy products. My energy has never been higher than it is now. I believe this was a direct result of an unhealthy diet. I also take fermented cod liver oil, because I do believe some of my skin and eye issues may be a result of a vitamin A deficiency from my pregnancy and since I am still breastfeeding.
-I like these activities, because they allow me to just be present in the moment, enjoying what I am doing. Also, I like to sew and paint or do crafts myself. I love learning new skills and creating things from nothing. Enjoying art is a new hobby/interest that I enjoy.

6. Do you have any persistent thoughts, ideas or beliefs that are difficult to stop or cope with? What are they?
-No, not persistent. Occasionally, I may think of the past and feel regret for some of the things I did, but I'm becoming better at not indulging in the thoughts when my mind has them. I know my mind just wants something to chew on.

-I feel adrenaline rush though me, with almost a feeling of dread. I can actually feel the negative emotion move through my body and my heart pumps fast. I may also get a red, flushed face at thinking of something negative.

9. When did you feel at your best in your life? What was that like for you? If you imagine the complete opposite of this feeling or moment, what would that be like?
-This is a hard question, because in some ways, I do feel the best I've ever felt. In terms of energy level and happiness in my general life circumstances. The only thing not better, is my body's ability to deal with certain things. I feel like a bit of a contradiction, because even though I feel great energy wise and in terms of peacefulness, my body seems unable to cope with certain things. Like clearing itself of the warts and the frequent conjunctivitis.

10. Do you feel like you are stuck in a pattern of behavior, especially when trying to deal with your problems? What is this pattern? THIS IS AN IMPORTANT QUESTION PLEASE CONSIDER CAREFULLY AND GIVE DETAILS.
-When I deal with my health problems, I normally just want to get rid of it whatever way necessary. Until now, I didn't realize that any symptom is my body's way of trying to heal itself. I used to think my body didn't know the warts were there because they evaded my immune system. But now I don't think that's true. It's hard for me to accept that, because I do feel good.
-Now I want to find a way to cure these things once and for all, by healing the cause. I know my own vital force is the only way thats possible, and strengthening it is the only way I will ultimately be better.
-I used to ignore things, but now I want to deal with it right away, get rid of it right away. Whether, it is a nagging hospital bill or warts on my hands.

11. What difficulties or problems do you have in relationships? Talk about your family, your romantic relationships, your spouse or partner, your friends, and your work colleagues. You may need to talk about all of these separately.
-Honestly, I do not have many difficulties in my relationships. Sometimes I let things get bottled up instead of confronting people about something that is bothering me. This is because I do not like confrontation. Growing up, I never wanted my family to know these about myself I thought would disappoint them so I did hide some things.
- Because of that, I am very open to my spouse about everything. I literally do not keep anything from him.
-To my children, I have a hard time letting go of control. I just want to protect them and keep them close that I have a hard time releasing this. This goes back to my fear of losing the ones I love the most.

12. List 5 positive things about yourself. Are there any situations where this positive attribute becomes negative (is a problem)?
-Honest, thoughtful, determined, hardworking, selfless. Sometimes my selflessness causes others to walk on me. And since I have a hard time with confrontation, I may get taken advantage of.

13. List 5 negative things about yourself. Are there any situations where this negative attribute becomes positive (is useful)?
-Insecure about certain things, Afraid of judgment, sometimes overindulgent, addictive personality, always want to be the best at things.

16. What were you like as a child, your character, your personality, your fears, your dreams, your problems?
- I was mature for my age, an old soul. Very outgoing until a certain age, around middle school I think, when I became very worried of what others thought about me and insecure. I was in soccer and gymnastics and went to junior olympics for gymnastics, but it became so hard that I quit when I was in ninth grade. I was very athletic and was constantly being shuddled from practice to practice and just wanted to make everyone happy and proud of me. The pressure became too much to handle for me and my nothing I did was for myself anymore, so when I got to college I rebelled a bit and just wanted to have fun.

17. What kind of environment did you grow up in? What problems where there at home, with your family, with your parents, with your siblings, with school?
-I grew up in a good family. Both my parents worked. My younger brother and I were very close, but my older brother and I never got along. To this day, we do not see eye to eye on anything really. I resented him a bit for putting my parents through a lot.

- What drinks do you hate to take (are averse to)?

8. Menses (Women)

- What physical activities affect you?
sometimes exercise may contribute to heat rash.

- Is there anything else in the environment you are sensitive to?
Only certain chemical things like medicine and alcohol or synthetic vitamins.

10. Anything else you feel is important that hasn’t been covered by previous questions?
-In 2006, I had 2 abnormal Paps and a biopsy was taken. It would determined that I had cell changes that could lead to cervical c*ncer. In 2007 I was given the Gardasil vaccine. After that, I have never had an abnormal Pap since.
-8 months after I delivered my son via-csection, I beginning having dizziness. I would get headaches a lot and sometimes had blurry vision. I had many tests done and and in early 2011 was diagnosed with a syndrome called POTS. Postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome. It was basically an issue with the autonomic nervous syndrome and it didn't regulate my blood pressure properly. I thought I was dying. It was difficult, because I would feel like I was going to pass out if I would stand up too fast or if I would stand still too long. That is when I began my spiritual journey and wanted to change my health. I began working out and now I do not have symptoms of that syndrome anymore. The only symptom I still notice is a chemical sensitivity. I became sensitive to all types of things, like alcohol, coffee, even vitamins if they were too strong. The Dr. say a lot of times this syndrome happens to young women after a pregnancy. I think the pregnancy was such a stress to my already unhealthy body and that is what caused it. Also, the weight gain during the pregnancy and my lack of activity contributed I believe as well.
-I am still sensitive, but not nearly as sensitive as I was. I feel my vital force is stronger than it was then and that's why its not as sensitive. However, I feel it still needs much strengthening. During my pregnancy with my daughter was the first time I tried to use homeopathy, but I proved everything and had a terrible aggravation to Nat Mur. It lasted like two weeks. I tried it again in a lower potency, 6c. (I was working with a homeopath at the time). I was able to take a few doses, but then I couldn't sleep so I had to stop. I have recently tried a couple of homeopathic remedies and feel my body is able to handle them better, atleast I did not aggravate or prove.

forgot one thing. Sometimes if there is something wrong with myself or my kids I will go on the internet researching it and obsess over finding out how to get rid it.

I will have a look at this over the Xmas break. I have made a prescription for your son on his thread - I think you will find my conclusion interesting.

Lately I'm having a hard time handling the itchy dry eyes. I'm now having to use visine daily. I feel I need to try something soon.

I was barely online over the break I'm afraid. I am looking at your case today.

Hmmm...interesting. I am considering something unusual here - I am considering Adrenaline as a remedy. Many of your symptoms are actually associated with the action of that hormone. Interestingly, in the very small amount of information contained in the proving of this remedy, it shows this:

Headache with a feeling as though the eyes were strained
Face flushed, with heat
General flashes of heat
Dilated or injected blood vessels in any part of the body

What alerted me to Adrenaline as a remedy is your repeated description of experiencing adrenaline rushes, with all the symptoms we associate with it.

What I need to do though, is get home to my books by Dr. Vithoulkas, so I can read his essay on this remedy and see if it suits you in a broad sense.

Sounds good. I'll wait for your reply.

Unfortunately the essay by Dr. Vithoulkas wasn't helpful enough to decide me. I just have so little information on it. I am looking over your case to see what else presents, although I may get you to obtain this remedy so we can try it.

OK. Are those the only things listed in the proving? Is that ok when they are so many other things I experience? Lately my eyes seem so dry and they itch. Mainly at the corners. They are red when I wake up. I try to not put drops in but its difficult. I'm trying to hold out until you prescribe. Thanks

Just to keep you updated, I spent a lot of yesterday (the free time I had between clients) going through your case. It definitely isn't a simple one. Your symptoms lead me in several directions. I am currently considering Arsenicum and Amyl nitrate.

I will try to get this sorted out today or tomorrow.

Thank you so much. I greatly appreciate it. I only mentioned my eyes because they are the issue that seems to be prominent right now and quite bothersome. Most of my other issues can atleast be ignored. I know you are busy. I will try to be patient.

And I appreciate your patience :) I tend to be a bit of a stickler for attention to detail so I like to do the job as carefully as I can.

Ok this is what I would like to do as a first step.

I want you to obtain Glonoine 30c in liquid form. Take it just as I gave instructions previously for the Belladonna - 5 hits, 3 drops, 100mls, stir, 2 teaspoons. Do this once a day for 3 days in a row, and stop. Stop if any symptoms flares up or aggravates.

Took my first dose at about 7pm yesterday and I actually felt good after. Like a little energetic or something. I normally get a mild headache after I take a remedy but I didn't this time. But I had a hard time falling asleep/ staying asleep. This does happen to me occasionally, and I did take a nap midday yesterday so I'll see how it goes tonight. I think today I'll take it earlier.

That sounds like a good idea. People often have to work out the best time for themselves for taking a remedy.

I finished third dose yesterday morning. No problem or negative reaction. However, This evening my eye became very red on the inside white area (the way it used to but hasn't in a while). I don't know if its pink eye or just inflammation. Its very uncomfortable and I don't want to repress it but I did put some breastmilk in it to soothe it. Is this repressive? What should I do now?

It's weird because my eyes have still been dry but this pink eye thing hadn't happened for a while. Don't know what this means.

If it is weird, then it is probably the remedy. Try not to use anything to deal with it on a surface level.

Using your own breast milk is actually something we call Auto-isopathy ... related to homoeopathy but also quite different. It can often palliate various symptoms - my concern is that if it is palliating and this is a remedy reaction, you could block the progress.

OK I'll try not to put it on anymore. Unless it gets too painful. If it is the remedy, it shouldn't last long right?

Most individual symptoms provoked by the remedy tend not to last too long, but you can get a parade of them coming and going.

Let me know what happens.
