This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Hi-

You need to interview surgeons ( at least 3 of them) in your area
for cost and explanation, and research what
success they have and patient testimonials.

If you have breast growth, from weight gain,
or medical issues, or from taking certain drugs
it can return. You need to get these things under
control. You can also have pseudo gynecomastia
which will solve by diet and exercise.

Drs. tell patients to stop alcohol and steroid
type drugs before surgery.

Below are conditions that cause the problem and surgery is not the answer if
any of these things are going on.

Anti-androgens used to treat prostate enlargement or cncer and some other conditions
AIDS medications
Anti-anxiety medications
Tricyclic antidepressants
Antibiotics
Ulcer medications

Heart medications
Anabolic steroids and androgens
Alcohol
Amphetamines
Marijuana
Heroin

If you use drugs that may cause the condition, you are not a good candidate for male breast reduction treatment. Your doctor will likely first advise you to stop using these drugs or to switch to other medications that do not cause gynecomastia. However, never stop taking a prescription medication without talking to your doctor first.

Diseases may cause enlarged breasts as well. These may include:

Any conditions that interfere with normal testosterone production
Some tumors, such as those involving the testes, adrenal glands or pituitary gland
Hyperthyroidism (the thyroid gland produces too much thyroid hormone)
Kidney failure
Liver failure and cirrhosis
Malnutrition----

The link below is about what to expect in recovery after surgery.
