Eye strain, headache and post-nasal drip!

Hello! I have been suffering from severe eye strain and splitting headache accompanied by nausea for the past 12 years. I have been told that it's because of my inflamed maxillary and frontal sinuses. My ENT tells me that surgery is the only option I've got!
I have polyps and a slightly deviated nasal septum too, due to which I have difficulty in breathing and also hyposmia.
When I consulted with a neurologist, he told me that the headaches I have been experiencing is a type of vascular headache.
Oh, I forgot to mention that I have astigmatism too, but I can't use glasses because of the tenderness on my face and severe pain around eye socket. I'm not a candidate for contact lens because of my dust allergy and dry eye issues.

Any insight and advice would be much appreciated. Thanx!

P.S. I am 24yrs old

1. Age,sex,weight,country,occupation. ANS.
Age:24
Sex: Female
Weight: 53 kg
Country: India
Occupation: Student

2. Main complaints and other associated troubles.
a)Where is the trouble; The exact locality of the complaint like hands, legs etc; duration of trouble.

ANS. The trouble is on my face, I mean I have tenderness on my face and sometimes it's so painful to even touch my face!Due to this issue I can't even wear glasses. The pain is worse around my eyes. I feel severe throbbing pain in my socket and forehead area, OH and the eye discharge! It's so bad that I have hazy vision and can't see anything properly until I remove the gunk from my eyes. The discharge is usually clear, transparent but when I have severe pain strain or when I haven't had a proper sleep, then the discharge is yellow coloured. It's so embarrassing having to excuse myself every 30 mins to clear the mucus discharge from my eyes when I'm with friends and family.
The pain on my forehead which is accompanied with the eye-strain is almost always felt in the centre(the third-eye zone).
The pain lasts forever- I mean the only thing which will take away the pain is sleep. Even so, the throbbing pain in my eyes, the headaches, nausea etc returns as soon as I wake up.
There are a couple of polyps inside my nose, slight nasal deviation and difficulty in breathing. I have been diagnosed with having both frontal as well as maxillary sinusitis with severe post nasal drip.

b)What exactly do you feel, Sensation as pain, how pain feels or burn etc.
ANS. On my face excluding forehead and eyes: the sensation is mostly tenderness
In and around my eyes: Oh my God, it's severe pain!
On my forehead specifically the centre: I feel like my third eye is being opened every time I get the excruciating pain, lol! Okay, umm.. it feels queasy and I feel vibrations there, not to mention the pain which is like being jabbed by a thousand small needles- but I find that pain quite bearable. I think it does burn a little.
On my scalp: Oh my scalp is hyper-sensitive! I cannot put my hair up or even put it in a tight pony-tail because my scalp hurts like anything!!
All over my head: The headache I experience is like the pounding of a drum. No it doesn't burn. I lose balance when I lift my head all of a sudden or when I stand up from a sitting position.
c)What are the factors that causes this trouble according to you.
ANS. The factors umm.. anything that puts strain on my eyes, like reading-which is beyond my control as I am a student and I have exams all the time! Anything from lack of sleep, squinting when I'm out in the sun to focussing my sight on someone standing 1 metre away(I have astigmatism and myopia, but the power is quite low-about -1 in both the eyes) results in severe eye-strain.

d)Condition under which the complaint is reduced or you feel better like, cold or hot application, cold or hot weather, position as standing, walking, rest etc.
ANS.I have no complaints when I'm sleeping, lol, I feel no pain whatsoever!
I can't stand extreme hot or cold climate. I sweat profusely and have ice-cold sweaty palms, feet and nose-tip irrespective of the weather! I feel suffocated and out of breath in summers
e)Condition under which the complaint is increased like, cold or hot application, cold or hot weather, position as standing, walking, rest etc.
ANS. Increased in hot weather. I get headache ALL the time when the weather's hot. I feel better when I'm resting.

f)Any other complaint any where in the body.
ANS. Stomach! Severe bloating and IBS. My stomach doubles, NO! It triples in size every time I eat. When I went to a gastroenterogist a couple of years back, he told me that I might be having aerophagia. Told me to go to the Chest OPD and get a chest x-ray done, which ofcourse I didn't bother to do. I am border-line lactose intolerant. So I avoid dairy now but the bloating still persists. I tried some home-remedies to help with the constipation but nothing helped!

g)Onset time of troubles in detail, i.e which came first, after that what problem and so on.
ANS. Okay tough question.
Umm.. I have been borderline lactose-intolerant as long as I can remember.
I developed those splitting headaches when I was 12. The doctor told me it's because of the hormonal changes as I was about to hit puberty. But as I grew older my headaches only got worse.
I started experiencing disturbances in my vision when I was 13. The power was quite low that time only -0.25 and I was told to wear glasses for 6 months after which my eye-sight will be back to normal but I couldn't wear the glasses for as much as even 5 mins before which I'd get a splitting headache which only got worse when I tried to wear glasses for longer hrs.
When I was 16 I developed too many food allergies(God knows what) and came down with mild food poisoning about 6 times in 2 years. After that MOST of my food allergies somehow vanished into thin air.. POOF.. just like that. But I have been told to stay away from dairy, sugar and sea-food(which I didn't, of course).
After I hit 18, I started experiencing severe bloating and constipation and stuff which my doctor collectively termed as irritable bowel syndrome!

h)Treatment method adopted and its result.
ANS. I tried allopathy, ayurveda and even homeopathy for my various issues. The only thing which worked on me was homeopathy- for the first time in my life I was headache-free for almost a month. But I had to discontinue the medicine as the doctor said I couldn't as much as take even a paracetamol tablet or any treatment for that matter as long as I'm his patient, which was okay with me. But I developed a wart during that time (well I hadn't paid attention to the small wound on my index-finger which hadn't healed in 6 months and realized that it was a wart only when I wasn't able to hold even a pen in my hand because of the pain and my university exams was just 2 weeks away). So I had to go get the wart cauterized following which I got a fever and I was put on antibiotics. I had to stop the homeopathic medications I was taking. Sigh! The headache I got after I stopped taking the homeopathic medicine after spending almost 1 month in a bliss without headache was THE most excruciating pain I've ever experienced in my life! i) History of diseases in family.
ANS. None

4. Personal History.
a)About childhood.
ANS.Oh it was traumatic to say the least.

b)Academic performance.
ANS.I was exceptionally good at studies up until a couple of years back. I had a photographic memory when I was younger but nowadays I hardly seem to remember anything.

c)Any major incidents in life and the effect of it on life.
ANS. None that I can think of!

d)How you are satisfied with your sex life, friends, family members, company etc.
ANS. I'm not sexually active. My relationship with my family is good, friends..err not so much because of my sensitivity issues. I don't enjoy mingling with people other than my family and close friends.

5. Habits/Addiction.
a)Smoking, Alcohol,Sleeping pills, Laxative etc.
ANS.None...though I do have a strange addiction to the smell of petrol, kerosene, 'fresh' newspapers. I almost feel like wanting to eat/drink those things lol. Oh the most crippling addiction I have got is trichotillomania, that hair-pulling disorder. I have been doing that for the past 10 years or so and I have very few strands left on my head.
I had scalp-sensitivity issue long before I started pulling out my hair.
b)Masturbation and frequency.
ANS.Nope

6. How is your Appetite and Thirst.
ANS. Normal

7. Likes and Dislikes.
a)Alcohol Bread Butter Bitter Salt Sweet Sour Fats Milk Mud Chalk Egg Spicy food Meat Fish Fruits Fried Food
Warm food-drink Cold food-drink Ice Ice cream Chocolates Tea Coffee.
ANS.Salt, spicy food, meat, fried food.

b)Anything else about like and dislike of any activity with you or surrounding.
ANS. I keep to myself most of the time.

8. Bowel movements.
a)Nature of stool, frequency, satisfactory or not.
ANS. Nature- Hard, dark almost black-ish stools
Frequency- once every 2 or 3 days. There is this feeling of incomplete evacuation after every bowel movement. Still feels constipated, bloated and gassy.

b)Any discomforts associated with stool.
ANS. Stomach pain

9. Urine.
a)Frequency, nature, volume.
ANS. Normal
b)Any discomfort before, during or after urination/odour
ANS. None at all

10. For men.
a)Any difference in erection/want of erection/weak erection/Ejaculation early/late.
ANS.
b)Any other trouble in sex.
ANS.

11. For Females.
a)Menses, Regular, Irregular,Early, Late.
ANS. Irregular periods right from the start. Always late a cycle of 35-45 days.

b)Duration of menses.
ANS. Duration is 3-4 days but mild staining follows for the next 3-4 days.

c)Nature of flow, Scanty, Blood colour, Consistency, Odour, Staining, itching/ when and what makes it worse/better.
ANS. Heavy flow, colour is normal-red MOST of the time. Sometimes I do get dark-purplish blood with gigantic clots too and when that happens I get severe stomach cramps and back-pain. Normally no cramps. Odour is normal. Stains-yes. No itching. Hot compress soothes the cramps.

12. Sleep.
a)The quality of sleep, the quietness or restlessness of sleep,
position of sleep, times of waking and reasons for waking,
need for cover over various parts of the body,
whether the window must be open or closed etc.
common dreams, peculiar sounds or gestures during sleep, etc.
ANS. I need to sleep for long hours in order to wake up without a splitting headache and eye-strain. I sleep on my stomach mostly and in fetal position, sometimes.
I don't usually wake up when I'm in deep sleep and if at all I do, I feel groggy and fall asleep as soon as my head hits the pillow, again.
I have this dire need to cover my body irrespective of the weather/temperature in the room. If it's cold I crawl under layers of blankets and if it's hot I cover myself with a thin sheet. I think it's a comfort thingy for me-covering myself with 'something' when I'm sleeping.I prefer it when the windows are closed. I'm not much of a dreamer and even if I do see a dream in my sleep, I seldom remember it after waking up. Oh I have often been jolted awake when falling asleep. I never understood why my legs/arms twitch suddenly when I'm falling asleep.

13. Sweat
a)How much, what parts, staining, Odour.
ANS.I sweat profusely. Mostly in the arm-pits. Argh the staining-ruined all my white shirts! Odour-smells like vinegar or onions most of the time. The only thing that works for me is milk of magnesia, but even that irritates my under-arm skin. Sigh!

14. Weather
a)Tolerance to heat and cold, dryness, humidity, weather changes, sun,
foggy weather, wind drafts, closed rooms, etc.
ANS. Humidity is my biggest enemy!! Can't stand sun, extreme cold/hot weather. I have dermatitis on my body so it can be quite unforgiving when the climate is dry. I'm okay with closed room and foggy weather.

15. Mental Status
a)The quality of the patient's life in relationship to loved ones, family, friends and colleagues. Overall quality of energy available to function in daily life, and under various circumstances.
ANS.Tired all the time.

b)Any mental/emotional shocks occurring in the patient's life-grief, major financial losses separation from loved ones, death, identity crisis and other stress in life.
ANS. I guess things are normal.

c)Memory,ability to concentrate/comprehend.
ANS. Very bad! Very low concentration power.

d)Are you fearful of anything eg: Animals, people, being alone, darkness, death, disease, robbers, thunder, storm, high places.
ANS. Petrified of snakes. I don't dream of snakes, though. I get goosebumps ALL the time and when that happens, I'm scared to be alone in a dark room!

e)Are you anxious about anything: if yes, give details.
ANS. Yes, about my future. It's going nowhere!

f)Are you impatient.
ANS. Yes

g)Are you doubtful or suspicious.
ANS. Not really, on the contrary I am too trusting of others.

h)Are you hurt easily (emotionally)how do you react. Does it cause hatred/revenge.
ANS. YES!! I retreat to my shell. It causes immense pain and sadness in me. I don't feel hatred or the need to take revenge on them.

i)Does your pride get hurt easily.
ANS. YES!!

j)Are you depressed, if so, reason/circumstances.
ANS. Yes, my education is going down the hill because of my low attention-span and absent-mindedness.

k)Do you like to share your problems.
ANS. Not really!

l)Effect of consolation.
ANS. I feel terrible..guilty and pathetic after sharing my problems with others.

m)Do you ever become suicidal when? How.
ANS. Nah! I have too much lose. lol

n)Memory- quality if poor, for what ( eg. Names, places, people, what you read).
ANS. BAD!! Names, places, faces..everything... you name it!!

o)Do you weep easily, effect of weeping, ie, does it make you worse or better.
ANS. I'm not the weepy type. I'd rather cover up my emotions and preserve my dignity than weeping infront of others and feeling awful later on.

p)Are you easily irritated. What makes you angry, how do you express it.
ANS. Oh yes! When people fail to understand me, when they misinterpret what I said.. I feel furious, yes!

q)Are you destructive.
ANS.Very!

r)How good are you in making decisions.
ANS. Bad. I can't make choices. I mean I am the type who spends years calculating and analyzing the cons and pros of the choices I have to make, and then when the time comes to make the choice, my head goes blank and I take decisions, impulsively. lol

s)Do you like company or like to remain alone.
ANS. I like to remain alone.

t)How seriously are you affected by disorder and uncleanness in your surroundings.
ANS. It depends on my mood.

u)How does failure appear to you?
ANS. Makes me feel like I have nothing left to live for!

v)Are there any matters that you deeply dislike?
ANS. Yeah, diplomacy.

w)What activities you deeply like? How does it affect your mood?
ANS. Reading. I just love it.

x)Are you affectionate? How does others sorrow affect you?
ANS. I'm very affectionate to animals. Love them to bits, all furry creatures, especially dogs! Err..humans.. not so much.LOL!
Even though I'm not very affectionate, when people share their sorrows with me, my heart goes out to them. I put myself in their shoes and try to understand their situation and go out of my way to help them which meets with tragic ends usually!

y)Any present fears in your life or future.
ANS. Yeah I guess, exams!
z)Any present life or future life desires.
ANS. Exams!

16.Describe your face and tongue by doing FACIAL AND TONGUE DIAGNOSIS by visiting homeomzp.blogspot.com

Fine spider-veins on face

Greasy oily face
Shiny forehead with a couple of pimples

Jay2020 8 years ago
Hello Antivirus!
As per your advice I took picricum acidum 30c for 2 days, thrice a day.
I got the medicine only 10 days back and it's my 7th day now.
I have been noticing that the headache and the eye strain has increased more than 2 fold. I wake up feeling very nauseous.
The reason why I couldn't wait for 15 days before reporting back to you is because I have got my University exams coming up and I'm not really sure about my current mental state. It could be because of the stress, I guess. My energy level has dropped tremendously. I feel negative and what bothers me the most is that I'm not able to concentrate for more than a few minutes, also I'm feeling indifferent towards studies which happens only when I'm depressed, so um.. I'm in a fix now. If you could please guide me, I'd really appreciate it.

Jay2020 8 years ago
it can be homeopathic aggravation so wait for 15 days completion,

anxiety and depression seems to be causing problem here.
have you consulted any psychiatrist.

0antivirus0 8 years ago
Yes, I have been to several psychiatrists in the past 4 years including a Homeopath and an Ayurveda doctor.
I was diagnosed with having MILD/MINOR depression by the psychiatrists. The Homeopath said I'm having a case of Adult ADD; And the Ayurveda doctor said that I am bipolar and have major depression!
The homeopath's right, because I have these problems only during the exam time. I just cannot accept failure. It's almost like a necessity for me to score a high percentile in my exams or else I get depressed and I pretty much shut myself off from the rest of the world! It seems like I'm always on an emotional roller coaster. My parents walk on egg-shells around me, during exam time. They are so scared that they might say or do something which would upset me and I might do something self-destructive lol!
The homeopath gave me medicines with a warning that they are quite strong and my headaches could worsen over the next few days. But no amount of warning could have prepared me for the excruciating headache and body pain I faced on the 3rd day. I thought I was dying!! It was THAT painful. When my parents informed the doctor of my situation, he gave me another medicine (an antidote perhaps?) and I was soon cured of the body and head aches. I was quite hesitant to continue the medicine after that incident.

The medicines prescribed to me by the psychiatrists and the Ayurveda doctor seemed to work ONLY when I wasn't under any kind of mental pressure. I was advised to do yoga and meditation exercises, but when I'm depressed or worried, I just don't have the will-power to do those things! Even the small daily chores become unscaleable mountains to be climbed!
Anyway, I did face some side-effects caused due the prolonged use of those medications like, gastritis and weight-gain. I gained 8kgs in total! Gastritis was the side-effect of one of the allopathic medicine and the doctor had warned me beforehand. He gave me another tablet for gastritis but it was still pretty severe and I had to completely stop taking the medications. The gastritis went away but I couldn't get rid of the weight-gain no matter how much I tried! It seems like my body has developed an affinity for weight gain or something. If I'm not careful with my diet I could easily burgeon into a baby hippopotamus within a month, something I never had to worry about before!

So, in short, even though I have got a lot of issues, my major concern is the splitting headache, eye strain and lack of focus and concentration. I have spent pretty much my whole life studying and trying to get better grades than everybody else, but now I have come to a point where I am not able to study at all. I feel numb and exhausted all the time. What's the purpose of studying all year if you can't reproduce it in your exams in spite of revising the topics at least a million times?? My grasping power is all time low. By the time I grasp one sentence, the professor would have moved on to the next topic, no kidding! I feel lost. Can you please suggest any homeopathic medicines which would help improve my concentration?

Jay2020 8 years ago
do not worry for concentration, every person is different.

take ANACARDIUM 200c liquid, 2 drops in a tablespoon water, only 2 dose not more than that, not daily, 1st dose before sleep and next dose next morning after wakeup,

{if buying pills then 3 pills as one dose, 2 times, 1st at night and 2nd after wakeup, chew it, do not swallow with water}

do not eat or drink anything 30 minutes before and after medicine,

REPORT FOLLOWING AFTER 20 DAYS

Thank you so much, anti-virus!
I will report back to you after 20 days!

Jay2020 8 years ago
Hello Anti-virus!

Your treatment worked wonders for me!! I feel so much better already.
Feeling calm: 60%
Good sleep: 80%
Proper energy level: 75%
Self control: 65%
Confidence level: 55-60%
Freshness on waking up: 75%
Eye strain and headache: Has improved SOOO much!!
Mental freedom: 70%

I am happy! Thank you so much doctor!

I have a query though, since I'm a student and have to go through exams almost every other month, can I take Anacardium 200c one dose every 25 to 30 days, for a couple of months?
Will that be okay? Because I get very anxious and worried during exam times and it's difficult for me to concentrate on studies when I am in such a mood.

Jay2020 8 years ago
yes now take anacardium 200c at gap of 30 days. Keep taking like this for 1 year.

May god bless you.
Your case closed.
