BreastFeeding: Low milk supply

I am breastfeeding and have a low milk supply, I was wondering what should I take to increase it.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
I hope someone else can suggest a homeopathic remedy.

I have a 5 month-old (and a 2 year old) and wanted to increase my milk supply also.

I did in only a week by doing these 3 simple things:

Drink enough water, don't skip meals, and nurse as often as possible. The more you nurse, the more you make. The more milk you make, the more calories you burn that's why you should make sure you are eating enough.

Example: If you nurse every 3-4 hours now, try to nurse every 1 1/2 - 2 hours.

You can also use a pump, although I didn't find this to be as effective as just nursing often.

You can also find herbal nursing teas at health food stores.

I don't know what your sleeping arrangements are, but my 5 month old sleeps with me and nurses through the night also. This helped increase my supply as well.

ALL FEEDING MOTHERS :
Normally to increase mothers milk, the following can be used, safely.

ALFALFA-Q (Homeopathic Mother tincture). 30 drops in half cup water = one dose. Atleast 3 times / doses a day, for the entire period till the mother is feeding the child.

ALONGWITH above :
Cal.Phos.3X plus Ferr.Phos.3X, 4 tablets of each or equivalent powder is = one dose. Take four such doses daily till the mother is feeding the child.

FOR THE CHILD : Mag.Phos.6X, two tablets or equivalent powder. 3-4 times a day. Takes care of all gases and discomfort of the child. Incidentally, Mag.Phos. is a consitituent of Milk and compensates for inappropriate quantity and quality of milk provided by the mother.

Nesha,
I am very new to homeopathy, although I have always believed in it's methods.

I myself do not use or need medications/remedies/etc.

In other posts, I suggest to natural methods that I am aware of, for I do believe natural is best. I realize this is a homeopathic forum, but I cannot help but reply to others that may be able to take all kinds of suggestions into consideration.

I think you are benefitting this forum and after reading your suggested post I understand more about your educational intentions.

I did not read soon enough before deciding to try the "Arnica cure-all" for I am desperate to cure my son's eczema. I just started this for one day already, but I would like for you to please guide me to a possible remedy for his condition.

I would greatly appreciate your advice.

With respect,
WNCGirl

I had good luck with red rasberry leaf. I was already taking it for toning the uterus during pregnancy when I read that it enriches milk supply so I remained on it. Fenugreek is also recommended for increasing milk supply. Drink plenty of water.

"WNCGirl" :
Thanks for your kind and respectful comments.
Regarding your question on Eczema, Nesha-India has started a new appropriate Topic titled " ECZEMA - Causes & Treatment" under the following link. Please read, understand and ask questions. Link : http://www.abchomeopathy.com/forum2.php/51562/

"sajjadakram635" : Thanks for pointing out "RICINUS COMMUNIS", which I did not mention for simplicity sake. However, I would not suggest to Mix Alfalfa-Q and Ricinus Communis-Q together in the same dose.
The mother should take ONLY ALFALFA-Q (which incidentally is 1000% safe for the Child and as a Tonic too for the suckling & developing infant) ... OR ... take ONLY RICINUS COMMUNIS-Q or 3X. AND NOT MIX it in the same dose ... OR ... Take either at alternate days.

I had to deal with low milk supply and it was horrible. I could only pump 1/2 ounce at a time. Doctors were not supportive. Herbal remedies were effective for me. I tried several different products. In the end I liked an herbal lactation tea called Breastea (you can order it online). You want to make sure that you drink the herbal tea daily and pump or breastfeed often. You don't want to miss a feeding. Hope this helps.
