Anti-viral needed
I have a 5 year old neutered male cat who is rather "beefy" (18.5 lbs) who I took to the vets today. His third eyelids are showing and he has a low-grade fever with some mild inflammation of the horizontal canals of the ears. Other than that, he is fine! He is eating, sleeping and eliminating normally. I was given anti-viral pills to give him but let's just say he can be rather testy - the vet could barely get a pill in him. So what does one do when the patient is acting normally but has a low-grade fever? Except for the appearance of the third eyelids, there are no other symptoms!

As I poured over every book on homeopathy I possess, most regarding animal care (I run a cat sanctuary for feral cats),it occurred to me that I was going about this the wrong way. Yes, I did read somewhere a description of a remedy described as homeopathy's anti-viral. With few rubrics to go by, I focused on what I do know - a low-grade fever combined mild inflammation in the ears. I can't find anything for the protruding third eyelid which is a signed of a stressed immune system in cats. The vet thinks it's viral because of the lack of discharges. So I decided to giver Ferr phosph a try since it can be for fever and inflammation. One author stated "One remedy to consider when the symptoms are vague and there is a low grade fever is Ferrum Phosphoricum." We will see how it goes. At least this is far easier to administer as I added it to a small bowl of water to him.
