Rupurtered Ear Drum in 18 yr.old

I have a 18yr. old neutered male cat. He started out with an inner ear infection and later he was discovered to have a ruptured left ear drum. At first he had vestibulitis so bad he couldn't stand, walk, eat, or use the litter pan. He was treated with antibiotics and we just got back from a re-check. His ear canals now look good and the ear drum appears to be healing, it has a "thickened" appearance. He can now stand, walk (looks drunk) and use the litter pan. However his head is still tilted to the left and he still has balance issues with a tendency to fall to the left. He also circles, primarily to the left. I have been using Stramonium because of his tendency to fall to the left. Unfortunately the vet doesn't think anything more can be done to help him. I don't want to give up, he is the last of my daughter's cats (she died 15 years ago)and as I have other cats, I really have no place to keep him separate from the others. Is there another remedy I could try?

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
I think you had already posted same case elsewhere.

Well, first thing you stop Stramonium. And,

AURUM METALLICUM 30C, dilution (buy minimum qty dispensable at the shop). GIve it once every morning after preparation as follows. When you notice any signs of improvemnt stop medication and wait patiently till improvement is going on.

Preparation of dose:

A. Buy 1 ounce size dropper bottle (preferably of glass otherwise plastic. Buy it from homeopathic shop only.).
B. Fill it with clean potable water.
C. Mix 5 drops of prescribed medicine in it. Shake it 2-3 times & keep it for 10 minutes.
D. Now it is ready to use. Take APPROXIMATELY 1/4TH teaspoonful (1.5ml) of this solution as single dose directly under the tongue. (You get approx. 20 doses from 1 ounce bottle).
E. Repetitions as prescribed above.
F. Nothing else to eat or drink 1 hour before and 1 hour after the doses.

Do’s & don’ts: (As applicable to cat).

1. Stay away from Strong smells of any kind.
2. Do not touch medicines or spill them. Use the cap / droper of container (of same medicine) to transfer the medicines.
3. Place the prescribed dose under the tongue and let it dissolve. Keep the dose for at least 2 minutes in mouth.
4. Keep medicine containers airtight, away from direct sunlight, heat, any smell and children.
5. Avoid strong smells and odors AFAP.
6. Do not take any other medicines for any health problems. Most symptoms go away as they come within 24-72 hours.
7. Report any problems & seek appropriate advice.
8. Otherwise report progress after 1week.

Report if you don't notice any signs of improvement after 3 days.

Thank you for your reply. I posted twice as it did it not show up under my "recent posts" and I thought the original post was somehow deleted. I am familiar with water dilution as it is the method I use frequently with the sanctuary cats - we have been using homeopathy at the sanctuary since 1998! I don't know about getting it under a cat's tongue but I will try my best!

Luckily I do have Aurum on hand and will give it a try. Thank you!

One dose and I notice some slight improvement! The head tilt doesn't seem as severe and he is a tad steadier on his feet!

Just follow all instruction. Don't repeat Aurm dose or give any other medicines for anything. Just keep obeserving. Hopefully he will recover.

He has improved, his walking is better, as well as his balance. His head tilt is less severe. However tonight I noticed that he has a slight fever.

No need to worry. He might experience those old ear infection symptoms for some time which is transient. If left alone he will improve further. No need to panic at all.
