It is very difficult for me to write this and in doing so it is the first time I've ever heard myself say all these things. Have always thought of them as things to “live with” but I can't any more, it has started to take just too much out of me. The following is a long read but wanted to give the most complete picture possible because it seems like there is something fundamentally wrong. Is there a magic bullet to take care of all this? Probably not, but if it is a matter of a six-shooter, no problem. 99% of the following has been with me for as long as I can remember and they are listed in no particular order.

Nose is always stuffy yet always runs
I try to blow my nose but there is nothing there to come out. Seems like the membranes are just swollen 99% of the time. In order to get a halfway decent night sleep I will use a decongestant, nasal strips or nasal spray virtually every single night.

Difficulty sleeping.
Arms and legs go numb when I first start to get sleepy. I can be sitting in a reclining position or lying down when it happens but it does not happen as much when sitting in a straight-back chair. Also get a terrible restless feeling in my back between the shoulder blades like there is poor circulation (also see “Stabbed in the Back” below). Every single night I end up getting up once or twice and sitting upright on a hard chair (sitting on the bed does not work) until the feeling passes which can take up to an hour or longer. Once the feeling starts, even laying on my side doesn't help.
I like to lie on my left side in bed or on the couch because it makes my stomach feel better (backed up gas can pass, I have my “father’s” stomach) but my right leg goes numb. Not a typical numb, almost like a nerve or tendon is not getting blood. When this happens I again have to sit upright until it passes. Also, when lying on my left side my nose gets extra stuffy. When I lay/sleep on my right side I will go through the next day with a stitch-like pain on my left side between my lowest rib and hip bone like there is an air bubble stuck that won’t move. Right side, left side, talk about a catch22….

Back pain.
Wake every morning with back pain. Sometimes it is so bad I have to ask my wife to help me up. The pain is on my right side about 6" below my hip. More in the high-buttocks area but goes right through to the front of my body, weird. Have to sit for about 30 minutes in the morning and I feel the blood going back to it. I've tried Chiropractics visiting the Dr 3 times a week for a 6 month period but saw no improvement. I've tried soft beds to hard beds and it seems worse with hard beds. We currently have a Sleep-by-numbers bed with my side set at a low "30". Here’s one for you, if I wake up about 1 hour before my alarm goes off and turn to lie on my left side, I will feel movement in my digestive system and typically wake with little or no back pain but my right leg will bother me as previously described.

Stabbed in the back
Many times I will get a pain during the day level with my shoulder blades but closer to my left one. The pain will radiate between that area and my solar plexus. If I can lie down on my left side for a while I will feel some movement in my digestive system and the pain will then go away. I will usually get the pain towards late afternoon to evening. No correlation can be found (by me) between the pain and diet. If the pain gets really bad I’ll feel a pinching on the inner side of my left upper arm.

Digestion – “My Father’s stomach”?
Generally hungry but feel full fast. I want to eat, honest, but I end up getting bloated and lethargic. Tried having several smaller meals throughout the day instead of 3 larger ones but I end up not eating right/healthy. Recently started using Lycopodium Clavatum (90c in the morning daily) and it has brought a good measure of relief. Without the Lycopodium the bloated feeling is carried throughout the day making feel extremely tired all day. With the Lycopodium the feeling is drastically reduced but still there. Bowels can be anywhere from dry to solid to soft to pure water for no apparent reason. Tried tracking my meals over the course of a couple of months but saw no correlation. Again, I’d like to eat but then again I hate it because I don’t know what the “outcome” will be so I’d almost rather be hungry. Lactose intolerant so thank goodness for Lactaid milk. Too bad their ice cream only comes in vanilla and chocolate, Breyer’s coffee ice cream, YUM!

Headaches, migraines and more migraines.
Had these from when I was a kid but back then it seemed no one knew they were migraines. Thank goodness for Imitrex. Usually take a 25Mg tablet when I feel it but if it does not respond I will take another 25Mg tablet. The migraines come and go with no regularity. I can go a month with no headache then get 3 in one week. The worse part is when I finally get a chance to sleep late, if I sleep too long I wake with a migraine (there is no justice). Have gone through about 6 different pillows in the past 2 years and it doesn't seem to make a difference. If I try to sleep on an incline [as once suggested] I feel a "pull" like a tendon or nerve being pulled in the base of my skull. It feels connected to my inner ear, the joint in the back of my jaw (TMJ) and finally to my eyeballs. Nothing, and I mean nothing (motrin, imitrex, sleep) will make this particular pain go away except for time.

Always tired.
Gee, could it be because I don’t sleep well? Sure that is huge a contributing factor but is there something else? I don’t know. It’s sad for a grown man want to cry because he is just so darn tired all the time.

Joint pain.
Mid December 2003 I had a bout of “something”, no idea what, for about one week. Had absolutely no energy and every joint in my body hurt. Also developed a small pea-sized nodule on my right shin that is still there (also have one in my right nostril). Went to the Dr who thought it could be Lime disease, or maybe even Lupus which my uncle had. All test results came back negative except for Epstien Barr (sp?) and they said there was a “trigger” showing rheumatoid arthritis. Second blood test did not show the RA “trigger”. To this day my joints hurt and I can tell you when rain is 2-3 days away. Motrin brings a measure of relief, Tylenol does nothing, Ansaids (sp?) and aspirin upset my stomach too much. The Vioxx killed my stomach.

Hypersensitivity
Drugs: Haven't taken any on a regular basis other than Motrin, Imitrex and Pepto Bismol, for decades. Besides trying Vioxx for a while, last drug I took was an antibiotic after having a tooth pulled several years ago. Antibiotics, Vioxx and even some multi vitamin compounds for example….I can feel them in my system and they have a strange effect on me. The Lycopodium so far has been fairly passive except for a sour stomach to a small extent.
Temperature: Almost always cold. It can be 90 degrees and I’ll still have a long sleeved shirt on over a tee shirt. Seems like my internal furnace is undersized. Hands and feet are normally cold.
In general, I feel like if I weren’t so sensitive to things I would not be as bad-off as I am.

Mental State
If you can’t tell already, I am my own worst enemy. My brain does not stop going and sometimes I grind my teeth until I get a headache. Was once told I have a TMJ condition because of it. Regularly depressed, anxious and fearful of ‘the other shoe dropping’ but it never does.
Besides the mood swings from good mood to bad mood at the drop of a hat, I deal with a lot of rage, where does it come from? Seems like I am always angry. I can be semi-normal one moment then all of a sudden someone will say something really quite innocent but it can set me off to the point where I just want to lash out. Sitting in traffic will have the same affect (as it probably does to most people), it is a daily fight to keep this rage under control. It’s not like I want to do physical harm to someone or something, I just want to scream my head off. Since I started taking the Lycopodium my wife says she’s seen a change in my mental state for the better.
My mind is always racing to I don’t know to where. Seems like my mind spends so much energy but it never amounts to anything. Have a hard time concentrating but when I finally DO put my mind to something I can accomplish anything.
Almost forgot to mention poor memory. Anacardium Orientale helped with memory and feeling more organized but it gave me a very queasy stomach, figures!
Been told it’s from my upbringing but there is always an uncertain feeling when it comes to self confidence. I rarely fail in just about anything I try to do but there is always this feeling of uncertainty that I would consider to be more than normal. Sometimes it gets so bad my stomach gets so upset from all the acid I keep pumping in to it. I’ll sit and anticipate something until I literally make myself sick over it.

We'll there ya have it folks. I am hoping someone will read this and say, "oh I've seen this before. You need to do.....'this'". Thanks for taking the time to read it.

Joe

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
My first suggestion to you is study EFT. Download the manual from http://www.emofree.com.

Reading the manual will give you enough ideas about using it for various issues that you have.

You can contact me whenever you wish for any further help.

Joe, I would not give up on that Lyme Disease idea, despite the fact that your tests came back negative. Standard tests – even by the best labs for Lyme – are notorious for false-negatives. And the longer you have the organism in your system, the more likely you are to test negative using antibody tests. I’m no doctor – just a new Lyme patient who has had it undiagnosed for 20 years. It’s not pretty. Many of your symptoms are all-too familiar.

If you want more symptom info, Google lymesite.com, go the website and click on “Is It Lyme?” for a quick list of symptoms plus a long article with more detail about symptoms. See if you find yourself there. Lymies are like snowflakes – no two are alike – so don’t expect to have the same symptoms that someone else does. And there are a lot of people who test positive for RA, Lupus, etc. who have Lyme Disease.

Also, there was a discussion here about Lyme recently. I think it is on page 2 of the archives, called something like “I need help with tinnitus….. Lyme’s Disease….”.

I have met a couple of people who swear by homeopathy as being instrumental in treating their Lyme Disease. But it helps a lot if you know you have it.

Thanks for the input Tracy. As it happens my company is changing health insurance companies (4th time in 6 years) so it looks like I'll be starting all over with a new doctor, perhaps it will bring a change of fortune. Hope you are on the road to recovery!

Hi,

Need more info in order to suggest a remedy. You need a deep acting remedy which takes into account all your mental as well as physical symptoms.

Try to answer as many questions as possible.

What foods do you crave? List from the strongest craving to the weakest.

What foods do you have an aversion to?

What foods aggravate you? (including allergies)

Level of thirst? Normal water intake during a day?

Energy level throughout the day? Rate it from 1-10 (10 being excellent).

Perspiration: How much do you perspire? Where? Smell/ stain of the sweat? Are the stains easily washable?

Describe your dreams in detail? Do you had any recurring dreams or images/ pictures/ themes?

Is there anything else in the environment you are sensitive to? ( car sickness etc…)

What is the worst thing that has ever happened to you? Describe in detail.

What part of your life do you have the most difficulty coping with? Why is that?

What was your childhood like? Describe your parents and your relationship with them. Describe your relationship with your siblings and other extended family members. Did anything in your childhood have a profound effect on you? Describe your school and college life.

What is your occupation? What differentiates you from the other people in your place of employment? What difficulties do you have at work?

What is your self-confidence level ?

What fears do you have? Do you have any phobias?

What parts of yourself or your life would you change if it were at all possible?

What do you do to relax?

Describe all other aspects of your nature in detail.

Hi,

Not too much detail, aye? :-)

Appreciate your asking so here goes:

What foods do you crave? List from the strongest craving to the weakest.
Crave meats and sweets (chocolate), not too big on greens sort of a meat and potatos kind of person. Other than that I don't really have any cravings to speak of other than cigarettes especially when stressed. Every now and then I would love a shot of liquor but that only leads to headaches so alchohol consumption is minimal (a drink every other month).

What foods do you have an aversion to?
Greens (salads, etc) and seafoods. Again, I'm pretty routine in my diet and don't mix it up all too often. The Mrs will sneak a salad in on me every so often and I'll oblige.

What foods aggravate you? (including allergies)
Believe it or not, greens, they produce a lot of gas and for me gas=pain. Can gas be absorbed into the body? Seems I never release as much as I think I have. Never had a routine allergy test but I've never had a reaction (that I know of) to any certain food(s) either. Parents told me I was allergic to sulphur and anitbiotics of the 'cyline' family. Turns out my parents had problems with these two items so they told me to keep away from them so I never had any actual exposure.

Level of thirst? Normal water intake during a day?
Have a general feeling of thirst all the time but consume fairly little liquids. Water or liquids in general leave me bloated and believe it or not water tends to give me an indegestion/heartburn feeling. A typical day would be a cup of coffee with breakfast, a 16oz water with lunch and again another 16oz water or can of soda with dinner. Late night snack is usually a bowl of total cereal or mini wheats with about 2 cups of lactaid milk.

Energy level throughout the day? Rate it from 1-10 (10 being excellent).
Waking at 6am - 2
Arriving at work (approx 1.5hr after waking) - 3
Mid morning through mid evening (8pm or so) - 5
8pm through 11pm - 3
Like I said in my original post, sometimes I am so tired I want to cry.

Perspiration: How much do you perspire? Where? Smell/ stain of the sweat? Are the stains easily washable?
Funny you should ask, I may perspire as we all do but rarely sweat even after exersion. If I had to I probably could skip showering and applying deodorant for a few days. With no deodorant/antipersperant, after physical exersion there is a slight odor of body odor but I can't remember ever having any sweat stains on my clothing.

Describe your dreams in detail? Do you had any recurring dreams or images/ pictures/ themes?
Don't remember dreams too often, perhaps it's due to the fact that I sleep mainly in 2 or 3 2-hour blocks a night. When I do dream (or remember them) they are usually regarding things current in my life, work, family, etc. Seems I even brood in my sleep. There is one recurring dream but I haven't had it in about a year now, I actually look forward to having it even though it is weird. I'm lost in an old castle-type building with catacombs and while I should be frightened there is a strange adventurous and calming feeling. Perhaps because I do have an attraction for Gothic things.

Is there anything else in the environment you are sensitive to? ( car sickness etc…)
You mean besides "me"? Cold weather - once I get the shakes I can't stop, prescribed medication, fluorescent lighting, deisel exhaust, the smell of cooking oil like after cooking a meal will stop me from falling asleep.

What is the worst thing that has ever happened to you? Describe in detail.
Sorry but this one made me laugh, I'd have to say my upbringing. Grew up in a VERY religious family and I was the blacksheep or rebel if you will. Most of what I wanted to do with my life I could not because of religion. Attended a private school but hated it and was the outcast, couldn't join the youth hockey league, couldn't date girls that were not of my religion. My family actually sat me down and told me that if I married out of my religion they would sit and mourn for me as if I were dead. Had 4 older siblings and was always compared to them. Yea, I'd say my upbringing was the worst thing. Even worse than being t-boned by a car in my mint 1966 Dodge Charger that I had for only 3 days before the accident.

What part of your life do you have the most difficulty coping with? Why is that?
Work, because it is not what I want to do. Let me rephrase that, I absolutely hate it, I hate computers and networks and phone systems and technology. Got my pilot's license several months ago along with an instrument rating. Currently working towards a flight instructor's certificate so I can get out of what I am doing now. Hope to sell the house in NJ, move somewhere in the midwest and live a modest means.

What was your childhood like? Describe your parents and your relationship with them. Describe your relationship with your siblings and other extended family members. Did anything in your childhood have a profound effect on you? Describe your school and college life.
For the most part, see "worst thing that ever happened" above.

What is your occupation? What differentiates you from the other people in your place of employment? What difficulties do you have at work?
I.T. Director for a family-owned (not my family) chain of department stores. Other than hating what I am doing as previously described I guess not much else makes me any different from the other people there.

What is your self-confidence level ?
In a word, low. Fear of failure is a constant in my life, I'd say more than the next guy's, though rarely fail in what I try to accomplish. Funny, when I fly I am not afraid of the plane falling from the sky or crashing into anything, I am afraid of me doing something wrong. Some times the feeling gets so bad I pump so much acid in my stomach I make myself feel sick over it. It's not motion sickness, not air sickness, just me being my own worst enemy.

What fears do you have? Do you have any phobias?
Not too good for a pilot to have a fear of heights but I don't have that feeling when I fly. If I am up on a ferris wheel it frightens the daylights out of me. I equate the fear of falling with the fear of failure. The only other fear/phobia is of drowning, I can't swim all too well. When I was about 10 years old I had an incident where I was on vacation with my parents and while in a pool, thinking I CAN swim, can you say 'glub-glub'? I was 2 feet from the edge of the pool a 16 year old girl reached out and pulled me to the edge. The one other thing I remember about that is I had wanted a certain album at the time (remember 33.3 records?) and I envisioned it laying on my bed. When I got home that's exactly where my brother placed it as a present for me. Creepy.

What parts of yourself or your life would you change if it were at all possible?
Remove the pain and self-doubt. I feel they are related but I don't know which is the chicken or which is the egg, much less which one came first although someone once said it was the rooster.

What do you do to relax?
Nothing. For as long as I can remember people have always told me to relax but when I asked them, 'how do you do that?', I'd get the usual replies of listen to soothing music, go for a walk, excersize, etc. I do those things but my mind is always running with matters of work or did-I-do-that-right so I never feel relaxed.

Describe all other aspects of your nature in detail.
Brood, fester, rigid, the grass is greener on the other side, silent-type, lose my temper easily over things that are really nothing, absolutely hate injustices, like to be 'fair' in my dealings, get the most satisfaction in life by doing good things for people I don't even know, like to make people laugh even at my own expense, expect to get what I paid for, not sure if I believe in God, hate hypocrisy, feel misunderstood, have a boss that keeps chaning the rules which leaves me feeling neurotic, when family wants to get together I feel they are stealing from "my"-time.

Hope the answers are detailed and direct enough. If I've missed anything just let me know. Look forward to your reply.

Regards,
Joseph

Hi Joseph,

Sorry for the delay in replying.

Take Nux Vomica 200, 4-5 pills every night, for THREE CONSECUTIVE NIGHTS. Take the pills on clean tongue, and dont eat/drink anything atleast for half an hour before and after taking the pills.

Keep posting about your condition.

Futher course of action can be decided after observing the effect of Nux for a week.

Take care...

Hi,

Well, about all I can say is that I can' take them anymore. By the 3rd night I was unable to sleep and up all night. Seemed that my mind was racing worse than ever when the only thing to have changed was taking the NV. Don't feel like there was any change physically but mentally something was changed. Can't put my finger on it because my disposition hasn't really been different just that something is 'different'. That is probably not as detailed a reply as you may need but not sure what else to say. Any idea where I can go from here?

Thanks,
Joseph

Hi Joseph,

Lets wait for a week till picture becomes clearer. Keep posting about your condition on a regular basis.

Dont take any medicine now. It is possible, that this is an initial aggravation and you might feel better afterwards. So now we have to wait and watch for the effect of Nux Vomica.

Keep posting about all your complaints, and take care...

Thanks, I'll take the wait-n-see attitude. The one thing my wife pointed out today was that the circles under my eyes were lessened substantially. Told her that was impossible becausee I haven't slept in days, must be the NV. Will keep you posted and....thanks again.

Amalgam fillings can cause a lot of your symptoms. It is a form of mercury poisoning. I don't know if you have fillings in your teeth, but if you do, research the symptoms of "amalgam poisoning" on the web and you will recognize a lot of your symptoms.

Thanks for the hint, I'll be sure to look that up. In the meantime, can the NV cause nodules under the skin? I have developed 3 pea-sized nodules under my skin behind my left ear and along my hairline in the back of my neck. They are quite painful and they have me very concerned...

jdant last decade
Hi,

Nux cant cause nodules.
Have you had such swellings anywhere on your body in the past?
Please describe the pain (throbbing/shooting/dull/on touch...)
What makes the pain better and worse? (heat/cold hot water bath...)
How does the skin over the nodules look?(red /yellow/stretched/same...)
Apart from that, how do you feel?

magicure last decade
Hey,

Now have 4 nodules, 3 move with the skin but one does not. They are not any color and are very tender to the touch producing a sharp pain when touched or if the skin is pulled tight. The skin over the areas does not looked stretched or anything, just looks like there is a bump under the skin. Heat/cold have no effect on the pain, odd... Just came back from the MD this morning and he feels it may be a form of lymphoma possibly from a bug bite or allergy from the bedding when I was on vacation (I don't know enough about the topic to comment). Feels they will disappear as mysteriously as they formed. Have an appointment next week to follow up.

Since I was on sort of a vacation last week I was waiting to go back to work before reporting any changes, ya know, normal routine. If you ask me right now after being back to work for 1.5 days I'd say overall I feel very little difference aside from a slightly higher energy level. Still have the same aches and pains, my mental state does not seem to have improved, if anything my temper has gotten shorter. Had quite a bout of diarrhea over the weekend where nothing would stay in, may be I ate something bad but it did not feel like that, more like toxin cleansing. Sleep pattern remains the same as does the numbness in my extremities and back when trying to sleep.

Going to wait a full week of work before I say anything definite because as much as I dislike work, that is the routine I am most familiar with.

Regards,
Joseph

After all was said and done there has been no change on any front save for one, my temper is shorter than ever. Was it the remedies or something else? Dunno but so far no good has come of this.
