Alfalfa Q came in the mail today. I took a dose in water. I was surprised that it tastes extremely pleasant. I would love it in every glass of water I drink.

Whoa. So after that one dose of alfalfa Q, within maybe two hours my breasts plumped up considerably and there seems to be ample milk flow when my daughter nurses.
This was just overnight, however. So we’ll see how the day goes since usually during the day is when I don’t have any supply, but that was just really a crazy fast reaction.
Do you think I should cut back the dose for maintenance? I don’t want to continue such a high amount and cause aggravations ... or I don’t know....what do you think?

Since your problem is pronounced during the day, you can take the dose during the day and not at night.

It's not a high dose for Q like medicine---they are meant to be taken daily/frequently. You can go with 5 drops once a day/every two days initially. Otherwise you can take a few days in a row then stop for a few days and then resume again. Another possibility is whenever you feel milk is running low that could be after a few days---but the catch is your system's reaction has been unpredictable at times we haven't got an ideal response when the dose is repeated after a gap.

Maheeru-
Okay. Good thoughts.
I took another dose this morning and i have more milk again :)
Usually in the morning I will be somewhat full, she’ll nurse, and then it’s as if there’s no more after that as soon as we get up for the day. Or very little anyway.
This is very encouraging. I will do 5 drops two times a day to start; if it’s too much I’ll back off and try another of your suggestions.

Also I am craving sugar and snacks less, and feeling full/satiated very quickly when eating a meal. (I researched alfalfa before I ordered it, so I was looking to see if it would do something like that for me since craving sugar and constantly feeling like I need to snack is a big deal for me.)
And I’m feeling clear headed and motivated today so that’s a bonus too. Don’t know if that’s just luck or if t had anything to do with the medicine.

Anyway, thank you! thank you! I’m so glad you told me about this. :) :)
I hope it keeps working!!!

It's a fat producer, increases appetite, satiates, lessens sugar craving and gives a general uplift in mood.

Being a physical medicine it should show some difference as to that of potency medicine, we'll have to wait and see.

Welcome :)

If this doesn’t keep working, what are your thoughts on Urtica, or Ricinus? Im reading that Ric at third potency increases flow of milk.
Nettles has been suggested to me before; and my ND told me to drink up to a qt of very strong tea (steeped for 4 hours) per day. I tried and it was pretty gross, and fairly certain it was giving me an odd dry feeling in the back of my throat with a dull headache.

Just want to be prepared Incase this stops working. I have known my body to quickly adapt and readjust(stop responding) to a supplement in the past....

Today has gone pretty well. I did not need to give baby a bottle of formula at all. I did feel depleted even after a repeated dose at the end of the day, however.
We’ll see how tomorrow goes. Here’s hoping!!

Yes this is somewhat odd. Not only supplements, medicines also meet the same fate.

When you think you are depleted even after taking a dose, may be that day you can increase the dose to 8 or 10 drops or take one more dose.

Among the three-- alfalfa was the closest to your symptoms. We might try and see ricinus 3c or Urtica MT but would be a shame if alfalfa can not work for long. Remember your nurse said the baby requires fatty milk, which alfalfa can help make.

Having periods while nursing is a guiding symptom and an unique one---suspecting that some mishmash of harmones is causing this and depletion of milk. I have been thinking of advicing a potency medicine on this theme. Before that we can explore these milk related lower dilution medicines.

On the fatty milk thing, my midwife (a much older woman who does not seem to be up to date on a lot of things,ie continued education) is the one who told me that it may not contain enough fat cells. I also met with a lactation consultant who is specifically trained in the area of breastfeeding and she told me that is simply not possible. It is simply that I’m not producing enough milk in general.

Yes I had my regular period return around 8 weeks post partum with my first child too. However this time I had three days of very light bleeding and then the other day I thought it would return, but all period-like symptoms subsided when I took Shativari.
This tells me my hormones are all whacked up. I did some teaser he last night regarding that. So prolactin is the milk making hormone, and your levels are naturally high at night while asleep. Which is what I am experiencing with high milk production during the night.
Problem is my levels drop significantly during the day, it seems. I know that I was considered slightly hypothyroid before I became pregnant with my second. This could be a contributing factor. Also the cortisol hormone plays a big role in depleting prolactin, which could also explain it since I am experiencing high levels of stress and anxiety.

Just some thoughts on it all. Don’t know if it helps you.
Im continuing the Alfalfa, whenever I feel depleated, but I’m a little worried it’s not working. :(

This is seriously the most frustrating thing to me in trying to take care of my health. I have spent more money on supplements and vitamins and remedies in the last five years than I have on shoes probably all my life. :( :(
Something helps momentarily and then it stops. There has never been one thing that is a staple for me.

Yes this is worse than sensitivity. Sensitivity could be managed, but medicine not working after one or a few doses is a problem.

Since when do you have this problem? Does this happen only with supplements and homeopathic remedies or this extends to whichever medicine you take including allopathic/modern medicine? Any known cause behind this?

I’ve always had this happen. It happens with just about all medicines. Sometimes it’s a matter of waiting long enough then trying it again. Like ibuprofen for example. If I haven’t used it in a very long time, it will work again for a headache. (I try not to use stuff like that though)

When I was still pregnant I tried getting a magnesium supplement to help me sleep, it worked the first night, the second night it had the opposite affect.
The one supplement I have not had any issue with is Vitamin C. I’ve also taken Maca root for up to a year and it continued to benefit. And Nettles capsules kept my seasonal allergies at bay for three years. I am not sure it still works. The tea gives me a headache, but the capsules never did.

All I know is that I have a genetic mutation called the MTHFR mutation. I can’t process folic acid properly, and my bodys general detox ability is decreased by at least 30%. This must have something to do with my building tolerances to medicines.

Quick side question, my son just got up onto my kitchen counter and opened the bottle of alfalfa q and dumped over half of it into my fish tank. Do you think that it’s going to harm my fish?
