Child with OCD symptoms

Hi, my son, 8 years old, is experiencing obsessive intrusive thoughts of harming his family, death, house safety, and fear of intruders.

He has no compulsions, though.

Experiencing intrusive thoughts around 6 or more times per day.

Could anyone please point me in the right direction as to an appropriate remedy for him?

Sorry what specifically would you like me to give more details about? I’ve mentioned the type of thoughts and frequency. Not sure what else you need to know.

How does he intend to harm the family? Is it only his family or animals and other people also?

Death,what does this word signify?

House Safety/What is this suppose to convey?

The Success of the prescription depends largely upon your ability to describe your symptoms. Let modesty not prevent a full statement.

Harming his family by killing them, such as by using a knife.
Just the family, no other persons.

Death: well he is afraid of death. He hates the idea of never being himself again in the next life. He hates the idea of not being with his family. He asks us to please not die and can we always be this way.
This aspect he will ask at least twice a week.

House safety: he likes to make sure that he is safe in the house by always being with a family member. For example, sleeping at night with a family member next to him. Now that I think about it, rather than acting out rituals in the ritualistic aspect of compulsions, his compulsions are words, such as: “don’t fall asleep mum. Make sure you come out of the room.” He says this whenever I put our baby to bed at night and I go behind closed doors, leaving him alone for around an hour or so. He also says, “I love you mum” quite often, perhaps 20 or more times a day.

Intruders: he is afraid an intruder will come into our house and either kidnap him or kill him and our family.

He usually has these thoughts of either intruders or killing his family at random times. Nothing specific triggers them. For example, he could be playing with his brother, or hanging out with me drinking a cup of herbal tea, or talking with me before bed time. However, I noticed that the symptoms usually are more prominent as he becomes tired and in the evening and at bed time. If he is busy and distracted, he does not think of it.
