Definition
Spastic disease is marked by stiff or rigid muscles and exaggerated, deep tendon reflexes. The condition can interfere with walking, movement ..
Considerations
Spastic disease generally results from damage to the motor area of the brain (the portion of the cerebral cortex that controls voluntary movement) and to any portion of the subcortical white matter (nerves traveling from brain down to spinal cord).
When control of the muscles from the central nervous system is damaged, muscle feedback pathways from the spinal cord produce symptoms such as exaggerated deep tendon reflexes (the knee-jerk reflex), scissoring (crossing of the legs as the tips of scissors would close), repetitive jerky motions (clonus), unusual posturing, and carrying the shoulder, arm, wrist, and finger at an abnormal angle.
Spasticity may also interfere with speech. Severe, long term spasticity may lead to contracture of muscles causing joints to be bent at a fixed position.

Common Causes
· Cerebral palsy
· Brain damage caused by lack of oxygen, as can occur in · near drowning or near suffocation
· Brain trauma
· Severe head injury
· Spinal cord injury
· Stroke
· Some metabolic diseases
· Adrenoleukodystrophy
· Phenylketonuria
· Neurodegenerative illness
· Multiple sclerosis and other demyelinating diseases

Daily Excercise
Spastic disease may often be helped by physical therapy. Daily routines of exercise including muscle stretching (to prevent joint contractures) will help reduce the severity of symptoms of severe spasticity. Physical therapy can be taught to parents who may then administer the care at home. Physical therapy consists of stretching exercises, muscle group strengthening exercises, and repetitive motion exercises

For Homeopathic Treatment following data is required:
· When was it first noticed?
· How long has it lasted?
· Is it always present?
· How severe is it?
· What muscles are affected?
· What makes it better?
· What makes it worse?
· What other symptoms are also present?

Dear Dr. Deoshlok or all others,

A 15 year old girl, born with Cerebral Palsy (lack of oxygen in foetus). After birth she was having spasms upto 3 years.

Now she can walk only with the crutches. Muscles of the limbs are very stiff. Otherwise she is fine, goes to school and acceptable grades.

After about each 3 months, doctors inject her with Botox or some Alcohol, then she improves significantly but temporarily.

Any help in this case would be highly appriciated.

Dear deoshlok,

My father got a stroke 18th july this year. He is 81 years old, and was fully active before the stroke. He was paralysed in the left leg which has improved. His has begun move his left arm, but not the fingers. The doctors say he has atrial fibrillation (no medication), high blood pressure (bp medicated), severe osteoarthritis (no medication) and his taking warfarin too prevent recurrent blood clots. First doctor said he had the stroke due to AT, other said was due the high blood pressure. I have given him Arnica since the first day. But due the paralysis in his back, leg and arm many homeopathic practioners has suggested Lycopodium (3 weeks), Phosporus (stopped after one day because of antidote to Causticum), Nux vomica (because of flu last week, and the cold left arm became warm), Aconitum (once a week nothing happened for two weeks), Baryta carbonicum (3 days, but became sleepy) and Rhus tox (for the arthritis). When he was given Causticum for 2 weeks ago he slowly begun to be able move his leg quite well, but not so much more with the left arm, he could bend his spastic back little bit more than before. He is has a clear mind good memory and social. The stroke affected his room perception - like he kind of confused about the 'middle point' of the balance: sideways, forward and backwards. He 'pushing' with his stronger right side when he trying to stand. He has very low appatite and became not to like fruits anymore (which he really liked before the stroke). I think mentally he was best on Lycopodium and physically on Causticum, but they are antidoting or immersal. What shall he have for the stroke, balance, severe deformation of the joints due the osteoarthritis (x-rayed now) eventually AT?

Respected Doctors,

My brother is suffering from TIA (Transient Ischemic Attack). CT scan shows that there is an ischemic infarction in the region MAC - M2 of the exterior capsule. He has not lost any motor functions like moving hands or legs etc.. Some of the memory like some numbers, some rare names etc... He has some pain in the head. Of course, he is being treated by Allopathy doctors for dissolving the clot. He is at home. He is an insulin dependent diabetic.
His BP with depin 5mg is normal. Dr Deshlok sharma has suggested in this forum that Bellis P 1M weekly dose may cure him along with Ginko Biloba Q.

On sep 7th, at 8 AM he had this problem. At that time he could not speak anything and could not read any letter. Slightly eye sight is also affected. But he improved very fast and now is able to see TV, talk with some difficulty, getting back lost memory, etc...

My concern is TIA's are warnings for a future stroke. That too, because of atheroscelrosis.

Can any doctor help ?

Thank You very much Dr Deshlok. I just have one question.

Ginkgo Biloba, as I got the information from the internet, is contra indicated along with Aspirin or NSAID drugs (non-streoidal Anti-inflamatory drugs, like nimusiline or ibuprofane, diclofinacidine) Allopathy doctor is prescibing Asprin as blood thinning agent.

It is not clear whether drops of Ginkgo can create problems of the nature described in the write-up, wherein it speaks about GBE extract in good volume.

Can I continue Ginkgo along with aspirin (25mg per day in one dose) ?

Thank you for the reply..

......

I hope the following are taken care by Dr. Sharma about this remedy:

Side effects:

'Ginkgo may have some undesirable effects, especially for individuals with blood circulation disorders and those taking anti-coagulants such as aspirin and warfarin, although recent studies have found that ginkgo has little or no effect on the anticoagulant properties or pharmacodynamics of warfarin[13][14]. Ginkgo should also not be used by people who are taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOI) or by pregnant women without first consulting a doctor.

Ginkgo side effects and cautions include: possible increased risk of bleeding, gastrointestinal discomfort, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headaches, dizziness, and restlessness. If any side effects are experienced, consumption should be stopped immediately.'

Ginkabo 3X potentized is safe enough. That warning is for using Gankabo as herbal supplement for prolonged time otherwise it is a very popular medicine is Chinese medicine system. 3x is one part of Ginkabo to 1000 parts dilutent.

Kns was specifically asking about Ginkob Q, and the above caution of Rajendra is appropriate for that.
