root canal , please help

Hi,
My dentist said i need two root canals on molar teeth (last but one), on exactly opposite sides of upper teeth.

It started like this.

I got pain in my jaw and got headache and toothache, Then doctor said i need root canal.

Since i coudn't decide on it, doctor gave amoxyciline for infection, which killed the pain. I never got pain there.

When i went for next checkup (In April '06)they said i devoloped root canal on the exact opposite side of that tooth. Then also i couldn't decide since it was so expensive.

Now after taking good insurance, i went to the doctor, she said pain is not there means the tooth is dead.

She said She wants to see whether the other teeth needs root canal (She was hoping she can save it from getting root canal) and she put the filling deep down while doing deep cleaning. After that that teeth got pain so she said that definitely needs a root canal treatment.

So now i finally had to get two root canals. It costs me around 1200$. from my pocket eventhugh insurance pays most of the money.

She said she will start with the one that is having pain.
The teeth which needed root canal in the first place is already dead.

So if i do root canal on the painful teeth and wait on the teeth that is dead, is it o.k?

Is there any homeopathy medicine to stop spreading the cavity? The painful teeth now is sensitive to hot and cold.

Any advice is appreciated . Thanks.
And i am scared to get root canal.

Why is such low potency?

Would 30c be ok?

Pat2006 last decade
I also believe that 3x is better--this is very physical problem and material doses might be better.

However anon, do you know what root canal and rttherapy are?how can a tooth develop rc? All teeth have root canals=canals where theirr roots are (nerves, blood vessels). Therapy is actually killing that tooth (such a therapy by killing, a true orthodox style!) and pulling out the nerve under heavy local anesthesia. What's left from the tooth is only outer 'coat' -almost all the body is filling.

This is the first time that I hear about cavities being contagious.Bacteria causing cavities are in your mouth all the time after all! Floss, brush, rinse--and you will not get cavities imo.

am getting very annoyed by reading utter rubbish. If you have a dead toth it either needs to be extracted or root canal treated, otherwise you will get an abscess, a cyst, cellulitis etc. homeopathy will not cure this or any other condition. stop looking for an excuse to get out of root canal. pull yourself together and get on with it. if it's too expensive you get the tooth pulled out. Simple. don't waste your time and money on unethical 'remedies' i.e sugar pills containing no trace of the remdial product... and no, water does not have a memory.

O, Henry, where did you find 'utter rubbish'?

This is homeopathic orum and people are gewtting homeopathic advice. If homeopathy annoys you why are you here?

I'm sure there is another forum 'somewhere out there ' for dentists.

henrydentist,
You won't find patients here.

If you're looking for dental patients, you are on the wrong website.

I have a friend who avoided root canal with homeopathy. So it is worth giving it a chance if someone is not in terrible pain.

Hi ,
Thanks you all who responded.

Today I had checkup again, since i was not having enough benifits of the insurance, dentist said she will drain the pus in the abcess , clean it and put some temporory filling. and she did it. She said it will save me from getting more infection. She was hoping to do root canal, in Jan, when my insurance benifits start.

So how should i proceed now?

Should i take Hekla lava 3X for a month for 3 times a day, or is there any additional medicine i should take.

Yes Astra,
I read what is a root canal on the net.

Thankyou .

I have been following this thread. My health food store are not able to get 3x but they can get 12x. Would that work?

Rooty last decade
Rooty - it is better to try the closest potency than not try it at all.
Anyway, I think you'd better reply to this questionnaire so Deoshlok, or other drs here could help you better.

Acute Case Questionnaire
1. Onset--did the complaint come on suddenly or gradually?
2. Etiology--the cause. What happened? What was going on at, or about, the time of the occurrence?
3. Sensation--describe the pain or other feeling. Does it extend anywhere, does it shoot anywhere? For instance, 'It feels like there's a crumb in my throat, I'm constantly trying to swallow. The pain shoots to my left ear.'
4. Appearance--what does the person, or the part that's bothering the person, look like; anything remarkable? Red skin, droopy eyes, etc.?
5. Location--where on the body?
6. Modalities--what makes the complaint better or worse? Consider: heat or cold, bathing, warm rooms, fresh air, drafts, motion, time of day when person gets worse, what position is best/worse, stimuli--conversation, noise, light, touch, pressure, massage, music, company, consolation, etc.
7. Concomitants (additional symptoms that came with the main complaint)--for instance, pain with crying; pain with excessive salivation; pain with nausea--the things that have come along for the ride, fellow-travelers, in other words.
8. Discharges--color, odor, consistency. (A discharge is anything liquid that's coming out, oozing out, etc. So, for instance, runny nose, diarrhea, lacrimation and so on.)
9. Generals--these are all the 'I' symptoms: I'm hot, I'm cold, I'm thirsty, I'm tired, I'm sad, I'm irritable, I'm hungry, I want pickles, etc.
10. The mentals: Have the mentals changed from normal, in what way? What's different mentally and emotionally?
11. What does the person say? For instance: 'I'm fine, leave me alone.' 'Don't leave!' 'I wanna go home!' 'I want ice', etc.
12. Thirst--is the person thirsty, not thirsty, what temperature drinks, what kind of drinks, does he only want sips, or gulps, does he drink a little bit frequently or a lot infrequently, and so on.
13. Fever?
14. Sweating?
15. Odors? Are odors an issue, such as bad breath, foul odors of any sort?

Do NOT have any root canal procedures performed on any of your teeth.
If the tooth can't be saved and dies, the only option is extraction, using the correct procedure.

For more info, click on my profile and follow previous links on the subject. (I'm getting tired of repeating myself. :-) )

My vote = Have the tooth pulled if homeopahtic cures do not help. You can have one pulled at the peak of your pain if you need to wait that long; i had two root canals done, only to find out that they root canaled the wrong tooth each time ~claiming that my roots were long so it was hard to determine where the pain was really coming from. The third tooth they wished to 'fix' had a huge, old filling which they took out and re-filled. It ended up getting so infected that I had to have it pulled on-the-spot! Ugh ! But no more pain! (It turned out the dentists had to pay for my bridge because they had screwed up so badly!)

My daughter had a very similar problem in a baby molar. It started with an abscess. I tried alternative therapies and also I went to four different dentists to see what would be the best approach. Though I am very committed to alternative approaches, I finally went to a dentist who explained to me that if the abscess is not at the root (which my daughter's was not), than a root canal wouldn't help one bit --- and that the tooth had to be pulled. I was very impressed with his knowledge, and I finally had her tooth extracted. I am very happy I did, because if you allow an abscess to fester it can damage other teeth. So I recommend, if you continue to have problems, to seek out the opinion of another, highly recommended dentist.
Good luck,

Hi.
Am asking for information, assistance and encouragement from you dear Friends on this site.

Went to dentist mid-July 2006 because of mild, intermittent pain and discomfort in lower right jaw. Apparently #30 tooth...I think it is referred to as the 2nd molar on the lower right...has decay under the crown which has penetrated to the upper part of the pulp chamber. No abcess or infection is apparent on the digital dental films or in the physical body. I am taking Hypericum Perf 30x sporadically when the pain flares up and it does seem to alleviate the pain considerably, much to my surprise!

My thoughts are this. Status quo dentistry says a tooth is saved with root canal therapy. It seems to me,
however, that root canal therapy kills the tooth by destroying the blood supply and nutrients to the tooth. It's like cutting off a toe because of a hangnail. I cannot understand how after more than 50 years in my own life, dentists are still using methods that seem barbaric and without vision.

Here is my approach to healing this tooth naturally.

1. Initiate Homeopathic treatment for infection and pain.

2. Have the existing crown and decay in the dentin and enamel removed.

3. Treat exposed/infected pulp chamber at top where it was compromised by decayed dentin.

4. Have a new gold crown with porcelain overly put on.

5. Continue with my program of cutting by half all sugars consumed, whether they be in juice and other beverages or in food.

Plese help me, Friends, with any words of wisdom and knowledge and understanding.

Thank you,
LibertyQueen

Hello LibertyQueen

I have very limited experience with teeth and most of my knowledge and experience is from very recent years.

I recently had an extraction. I chose to not have a root canal done as I understood that I would have to take antibiiotics to kill the infection.

I was not able to tolerate not even three days of antibiotics before they made me terribly sick.

I also have digestive problems which I am working on treating right now with Nat Phos 6x. The antibiotics were making that worse.

I did take a homemade phosphorus remedy which helped eliminate all of the pain.

I opted for an extraction which I just had done about a month ago.

I could not take high potencies of homeopathy out of fear of aggrevation as my private homeopath nearly killed me by having me take very strong remedies for unrelated reasons. I still have not recovered completely from the damage he has caused me.

So for me an extraction was the best option.

I also lost confidence in the dental field as I learned that when dentist have us open our mouth to repair a broken filling, they can intentionall make a larger hole than necessary in order to make the situation worse.

In my case, my dentist left me with a huge filling. Shortly after that I developed receding gums which lead to infection on the brand new filling.

The homemade phosphorus and silecea 30c help me avoid any and all pain from this recent tooth infection/extraction.

I mostly heard negative things about root canals and that is another reason I also chose to have an extraction.

A classmate told me that root canals don't last long. Someone else told me the infection is left buried underneath to make matters worse.

I believe Pankaj Varma has a lot more experience with root canal. You might address your question directly to him. He could probably even save you from needing a root canal.

If you have receding gums, massaging them with oil helps. I just recovered from receding gums about two weeks ago when I discovered that using a dog finger toothbrush with mustard oil did the trick for me.

Hello Pat2006
Thank you for your reply. While the pain is uncomfortable, my main concern is: I want to keep the tooth AND successfully treat the infection, have a new crown put on and go on my way. I do not know who Pankaj Varma is.

L-Queen,

For pain in the molar try :

Coffea Cruda 200C

and / or

Chamomilla 200C

Two doses in a gap of half hour ...shud give you relief.

Take Mercuris Sol 30C ...four times a day.

Post feed back...will guide you further.

Just to let you know....a friends' wife had been suffeing from severe pain in molar area even after tooth extraction for 14 years.
The dentist wanted her to get the nerve cut thru surgery...she was adamant she wouldn't.

Someone (medical doctor) also suggested to her brain surgery.

When she came to me last year for homeopathic treatment...the pain was no more in 3 weeks...after treatment.

Today...it is more than 8 months now and she is without pain.

Every month I keep receiving thankyou messages from the family. She has been telling everyone she knows that she has received a new lease of life.

Hello Pankaj,

I understand that the Coffea Cruda and Chamomilla are for pain.

Is the Mercuris Sol 30c for the infection and for how many days should I take it? Do I want to take it until I get the tooth decay removed and new crown put on since there is exposure to the pulp chamber?

Thank you,
LibertyQueen

libertyqueen last decade
Take Merc Sol for a week.
Keep taking it even during days your dentist is working on your tooth.

With Coffea Cruda and Chamomilla ...if you see reduction in pain...take some more doses until pain goes away. Total of 8 doses i.e....4 of each in alteration.

Post feed back.

Pankaj,

I started this topic. I was happy to see that this thread is active now.

I am taking Puls 200 C on alternate days as you suggested.

And Regarding the root canal.,

I don't have any pain now, from may be 3 months.

But i have a huge cavity on my right upper #2 molar, and just oppsite side of the mouth same molar. (right upper side). Doctor wanted to do root canal on both sides, but sice i am having insufficient benefits this year. She said she will postpone it until, Jan'2007.

On one side she did temporary filling, which i feel now is gone already. I sensed it because whatever i eat was getting stuck there. Depending on the piece stuck, i believe that it's a huge cavity, I don't know what will happen until January.

Can you please guide me on this?
