Chronic Cough cured by Nat Sulph 6c
I would like to share with members the record of an amazing cure of a cough in a patient whom I meet daily.He is 40 years old and first complained of a persistent cough about 5 years ago. This cough was not the result of any infection and doctors who treated him at first were unable to discover any reason for his cough which they first treated with antibiotics, and later, cough syrup. As was expected the antibiotic had no effect whatsoever and the cough syrup would only suppress the cough reflex which soon wore off. It was usually a dry cough but he would bring up some white phlegm when coughing. He then consulted fellow homeopaths who prescribed many remedies all of which did not help.
I had treated him with all the standard remedies for a cough but they did not help him and in the recent past he seemed to increase the frequency of his deep resonant cough which was repeated at least every 5 minutes.
I remembered that his late father was an Asthmatic and decided to give him my default remedy for Asthma, Nat Sulph 6c in the wet dose. I must record here that he did not have any symptoms of Asthma and I used the remedy only empirically merely because I felt that there could be some hereditary connection of Asthma from his late father.
I was absolutely amazed to discover on the day after the first dose that his coughing had abated and today on the third day on the remedy of which he takes a teaspoonful just once daily, he seems to be cured of his chronic cough as I have not heard him cough at all today. It is my intention to let him continue with the daily dosage for a month after which I shall change him to the Split dose where a teaspoonful is mixed into half cup of water taken daily and still later he can take the split dose every third day till he is completely cured.
For the benefit of members I would like to add the method of making a wet dose with any remedy. All you do is to insert 3 pellets of the remedy into a 500ml bottle of spring water which is usually available in any supermarket. Water from deep bore wells is preferred as it is least contaminated. Tap water may also be used after boiling to release the chlorine and cooling. After the pellets dissolve, the bottle is shaken hard to ensure bubbling at least 10 times before a teaspoonful is sipped of the remedy which can be taken as directed. In this case a teaspoonful of the Nat Sulph 6c was taken just once daily.
I thought that members may like to remember this somewhat unusual selection of a remedy to cure a chronic cough which had eluded the attention of doctors and fellow homeopaths and even me up to 3 days ago.

to koe de i notice you said that tap water can be use if it the chlorine is boiled out. i have a distiller at home, so now i dont have to go out and buy spring water anymore.

My son who is 26 months old is also suffering from chronic cough for the past 5 months.
He had walking pnuemonia when he was 21 months old and the doctors prescribed him albuterol and antibiotics for him
since then this cough did not go off completely it comes at any time during the day and the cough is constant.
I noticed he coughs after playing,running,jumping.
He coughs as if something irritating his throat and trying to clear it .sometimes he used to gag and vomit and i gave him ipecauc 30 c and now he is not vomiting but still coughing.
I was very upset and met him pediatrician and they are not sure why he is coughing and they wanted to try antibiotics(zythromax) first for 5 days if the cough does not subside they want to put him on sigulair(for allergies and asthma) for 1 month to see if it works ,even then if the cough does not go they want him to go for acid reflux medicine.
I feel they are just prescribing medicines on trial and error base and i dont want him to go all through this.

PAST ILLNESS:he suffered from flu in jan 2006,pnemonia in feb 2006 and had stomach upset in may 2006,fever and hives in june 2006 and had 3 cold attacks in between.
antibiotics used:he had antibiotics for diahrea when he was 6 months old
tamiflu for his flu in jan 2006
and had antibiotics for his walking pnuemonia in feb 2006
food habits:dont like to eat sweets drinks less milk and eats less fruits.
his main food is rice pulses and vegetables which he likes to eat.
sleep habits: he is a very light sleeper .wakes up atleast couple of times during the night.
Otherwise he is a very active kid explores a lot butt his cough is really disturbing his activities.

I note that you have given him the dreaded Tamiflu shot. I believe that this was the real reason for your 26 month old son reacting with his cough and perhaps other symptoms which cannot be directly connected to the shot but have affected him is so many ways.
It is possible that Nat Phos 6c in the wet dose can help him and there is no contraindication to your experimenting with it as at the worst he will not respond as my patient has done.
I have given all details of how this wet dose is made and I shall be interested to learn your boy's response on the third day after he commences this therapy.
You may like to know that on day 5 into the therapy of my local patient, he reported that he has not coughed even once for the last 2 days and can be considered cured. I shall however keep him on the daily teaspoonful for a month and then change him to the split dose and still later I shall change the daily dosage to every other day.
I shall be happy if your little boy too can respond in the same manner and the changes are good that he may.
I wish him well and a quick recovery from his chronic cough.
It is understood that you will stop all other drugs that you may be giving him.

If it is natrum sulphuricum can i give a wet dose of Natrum Sulphuricum 30 c because i could find only 30 c at my place?If no i have to order online which takes couple of days to get them.

The Homeopathic Nat Sulph is Natrum Sulphuricum and I shall copy Boericke on this remedy in his Materia Medica below.
I would like to emphasize that you cannot use the 30c potency as this is too high and may tend to aggravate the condition. Homeopathy is a very precise science and it is best to follow instructions unless like me you like to experiment with remedies and potencies and work out which remedy at which potency gives the best response.
You may like to know that at a 6x potency Asthma can be proved (or made to appear) in any person who has never had Asthma. Please do not try the experiment. I know because a patient once mistook the 6c and used the 6x which is in tablet form and reported the day after that he had difficulty in breathing which passed away in a day.

NATRIUM SULPHURICUM
Sulphate of Sodium-Glauber's Salt
(NATRUM SULPHURICUM)
A liver remedy, especially indicated for the so-called hydrogenoid constitution, where the complaints are such as are due to living in damp houses, basements, cellars. first of all i would like to congratulate you for the great work you are doing through this forum.
I am father of two sons. younger is just one month old and caught cold since last 2 days. since yesterday he started coughing. it seems as if he is having some trouble in throat and there is some hissing sound while breathing (not always and not very loud). he is also sneezing in between. he is crying more than normal and also looking less active since last night. he was born in normal delivery weighing 2.7 kg an was given the usual BCG, HEPATITIS and POLIO VACCINES after one week of his birth. i dont want to put him on allopathic medicines. but my homeopath is not always ready to prescribe medicines in the first stage. he initially asks for some home remedies and gives homeopathic, only when the problem grows. right now he has asked only some warm massage on chest to my little son. i dont want to give him allopathic medicines,
as i had a very bad experience when my elder son suffered with the same problem. they put him on anti-biotics for more than a month with only side-effects and no benefits at all, when he was 14 months old. they even said that he might be suffering with TB and wanted to start treatment for TB.
luckily i went for the advance diagnostic tests and found that he had no TB. Lastly he was cured by homeopathy. Although he still catches cough and cold very easily, but we manage it with homeopathy. mostly it is belladona-30 or chamomilla-30. depending on the symptoms. he was also given ars alb-30 when he developed pneumonia like symptoms and was cured by repeated doses of the medicine. but after reading your posts i feel, we may need to change the course of treatment for him as well. But right now my main concern is our one month old baby boy. can you please give your most valuable advice for him? As for family history, i may add that i have a problem of high esinophil counts and some times have to take medicines (hetrazan or benocide forte) for that, especially during change of weather. i live in delhi, india, which has very rapidly changing weather and high pollution levels.

my son who is 4 yrs old was diagnosed with asthma in feb 2010 and since then has had constant bouts of cough followed by severe wheezing which doesnt seem to go away easily with all the medications.i would like to add that he has allergic rhinitis and sinus as well.we got him tested for allergies and he is highly allergic to house dust mites.we live in daytona beach,florida.even as an infant he used to catch cold very often and very easily.
currently he is on following medications:
zyrtec,singulair(for his allergies)
pulmicort and albuterol(when he is wheezing).
please can u suggest a cure for him in homeopathy as i am worried about the horrible side effects of the medications that he is currently taking.

Just like the previous post, I too have a 4.5 year old son and we live in Sydney, AUstralia. He has had a chronic cough for over a year. It started when he caught a cold from a teach that just arrived back from the UK. It took him over 6 weeks to get rid of the continuous cough and phlem etc. Since then, his entire immunity has dropped and has had a cough basically daily and in spasms. We have seen GPs, Specialists (one wanted to 'assume' he had asmath), another did the allergy test (dustmite posivitive).
Now, our home visually is mold-free however, in the basement (and where my sons room is, is in fact the lowest part of the house to the basement) there is heavy mould. We went the other day downstairs and he had a coughing fit within 15 mins.
I have had him on numerous homepathic formulas all from belladonna, to arscium, to drosera and not much has changed. He used to wake on hourly basis w a cough. Cannot recall we did anything different. Now, he wakes very early in the morning with a cough. We have hired a Dry Home dehumidiefier and that has been good as he has woken a few times in the morning aroun 7am and he did not cough immediately.
In the interim, we have used a preventer and the ventilin and this does not prevent th ewheeze or the cough; all it does, it gives him more strength / capacity to cough harder.
We are absolutely going insane as what to do for him. As a parent, it breaks your heart not having a solution for your child when they are this young.
I am very keen to gain your thoughts & suggestions as to what would be most effective / approriate.

In a case like your son's we can use a few Homeopathic remedies to see which of them can cure him.
I believe that my default remedy for Asthma and the accompanying cough can help and you can use Nat Sulph 6c in the Wet dose which you will give your boy twice daily.
The Wet dose of any Homeopathic remedy is made as follows:
Order the remedy in a 5ml Ethanol pack also referred to as Liquid Dilution in a bottle preferably with a dropper arrangement.
Get a 500ml bottle of Spring Water from the nearest supermarket.
Pour out about 3cm of water from the bottle to leave some airspace.
Insert 3 drops of the remedy into the bottle and shake the bottle hard before you sip a capfull of the bottle or a large teaspoonful which is the dose.
Shaking the bottle hard is homeopathic succussion and this shaking must be done every time before sipping a capful of the bottle is sipped as directed.
Report his response in 48 hours after you start this therapy.

As much as this is a relief and my son does not end up on steroids in order to avoid a casualty department, I am keen to gain your opinion re: a natrual antihistamine that will assist with his chronic cough which appears to be due to an allergy (perhaps to dustmites and like).

YES please ! We have most recently seen Dr Baker (Allergist) here in Sydney and he is lovely. He has put him on a vaccine (homeopathic) against dustmites. But this is long term ie could take up to 18 months to desensitize. I would love to hear your suggestion or consider a homeopath that has strong background in allergies and like.

Hi Joe,
I was diagnosed with Asthma few years back and doctors prescribed me puffers. The asthma was mainly due to cold as I would start
coughing in cold weather or eating/drinking cold foods from fridge. I stated avoiding these foods and mostly used puffers during winter.
Then couple of years ago, the puffers stopped working and my doctor kept telling that sometimes people don't use puffers properly, and even after
demonstrating him how I use them and him OKing the use, my cough would not go away.
I got chest infection in Nov 2009 and was given antibiotics. The infection returned in Dec 2009 while I was in India and given
very strong antibiotics along with continuing use of puffers. The infection was gone but cough continued.

After about a month the cough returned and continued despite increasing the strength of the medication and the homeopath did not understand why the cough was not going away.
It was getting bad and I was really frustrated and went to a different allopathic doctor who gave me more antibiotics. Well, the same pattern continued with each medication working for a week or so (he tried 2-3 different medications). The doctor took x-rays and they were normal. I requested an appointment with a specialist and I may not see a specialist for another 6-7 months as they tell me that my chest x-rays are normal and there are more critical cases.
In the middle of this, I went to a hebalist and again the stuff he gave me worked intially and then the cough would come back.
I finally searched this site and found your remedy. I particuallarly took note of damp conditions being cause of the cough. I have noticed that my conditions seems to worsen on cloudy or rainy days. I don't seem to notice any difference with water though.
I tried the wet dose as you described and it did not seem to help much. Then after three days, I decided to take 5 pallets 3 times a day (started it yesterday so far has taken 3 doses) and I think I see some difference.
I am caustiously optimistic that this would work. Sorry for the long description but I wanted to explain the whole situation as I have a question for you.
How long should I continue this medication if it works?
If needed, should I try 30CH? In case this does not work or things don't improve as much?
If you have any other recommendations, please let me know.

coughing in cold weather or eating/drinking cold foods from fridge. I stated avoiding these foods and mostly used puffers during winter.

You have not identified the remedy that you used which you now wish to take the 30c potency.
I do not advocate taking the standard pellets as they can do more harm than good especially when taken in the manner that you have indicated.
I shall copy my therapy for Asthma below:
Your remedy is
Nat Sulph 6c in the Wet dose taken just before bed which you will take nightly for some time into the future. You will only take ONE dose nightly. If however you do not experience any relief which can happen if you are a chronic Asthmatic, you will please report your status to me and I may then prescribe another dose to be taken making a total of 2 doses per day.
You will report your response weekly or more often as may be necessary.
The Wet dose of any Homeopathic remedy is made as follows:
Order the remedy in the Ethanol pack also referred to as Liquid Dilution in a bottle preferably with a dropper arrangement.
Get a 500ml bottle of Spring Water from the nearest supermarket.
Pour out about 3cm of water from the bottle to leave some airspace.
Insert 3 drops of the remedy into the bottle and shake the bottle hard before you sip a capfull of the bottle or a large teaspoonful which is the dose.
Shaking the bottle hard is homeopathic succussion and this shaking must be done at least 6 times before sipping a capful of the bottle as prescribed.
Steam is also important and it must be inhaled for about 5 minutes twice daily. You can get the steaming device used in beauty saloons for facial treatment. You will most likely cough up a lot of phlegm immediately after steaming.
Physiotherapy is also indicated after steaming to rid the lungs and airways of the phlegm which is also the cause of Asthma. You will lay flat across your bed with your chest slightly elevated above your head which is hanging down over the side. You will get someone to tap your chest on the back from the waist up to your neck and you should find that your phlegm will drool out in cupfuls.
Exercise is essential for you and you will drink at least 3 liters of water daily.
You can also blow into a baloon to help strengthen your lungs.
If you get an acute attack of Asthma which you would treat with a Nebulizer you will take Ars Alb 200c in the Wet dose and this will usually bring relief within about 15 minutes or less. In the event of the first dose not working you may take another about an hour later. Please note that the maximum dosage is not to exceed 3 doses 12 hours.

It just depends on how old you are and if you have been in the habit of exercising in the past.
Start with a brisk walk and build up your exercise routine for about 45 minutes daily.
You may like to know that I do a daily routine of around 45 minutes first by walking around with a 5lb weight in each hand and then on a True Recumbent Exercise Cycle where I lift my Heart BPM to 115 as recorded on the heart monitor.
I am 83 years of age.

I also wanted to update that while doctors ( I am not sure how much I trust them anymore) have diagnosed me with asthma, the only issues I am experiencing is cough that won't go away and is made worse in cold. I don't have breathing problems.
I notice cough starts as soon as I am in supermarkets, especially in freezer section, or a place with AC. The cough/chest congestion also seems to be worse on cloudy or rainy days.

I have tried NS200C, Which have not relieved with other polycrests, yeilded very good result in chronic asthmatic cough with damp weather aggravation.

I am about 44 and am active in terms of walking. However, my exercise habits aren't that great as I start excercising but then stop after few months. So it is on and off. I will start incorporating them in to my daily routine and stick to it.
I have ordered the medication in the ethanol packs and should arive in couple of days.
Just to clarify, in case of acute Asthma attack, Ars Alb 200c is to be taken in wet dose as described above? or using a Nebulizer?

I went to check with the store where I ordered the medication in ethanol packs and they told me that Boiron doesn't know what ethanol packs are. I asked them again that I need them in liquid form and the lady will check with Boiron again.
Just curious if any other company provides this product in the suggested form.
