Hi Saroj

We dont know it is haemorrhagic dengue or non lethal dengue.(Because you say patient is residing in Delhi she may be afflicted with Dengue which is now widespread there.)

Only when you reach there you can ascertain which is afflicting your relative.

Remedies useful for Non lethal: Eupatorium, Rhustox, Bry

For Haemorrhagic: Crotalus Horridus, Lachesis.

You could choose one or two remedies among the set according to the indicated symptoms.

One more thing while treating acute, chronic constitution dont take first preference.

Also consider Phosphorus...if the symptoms indicate.

With the onset of the disease...if you notice that bleeding is also there in urine stream and / or stool .....then consider Mercurius. Cor.

Hi friends:

I returned after visiting my relative. The scenario of Dengue is that I spend Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday in that private hospital of Ghaziabad, where my relative was admitted. Her blood count on Saturday revealed 45,000 and diagnosis was made viral fever with bleeding gums. On Saturday night two units of packed red blood cells were transfused and patient recovered very well. I visit the patient and take and give Crotalus Horridus 30 to the patient. I also noticed that the body ache and joint pains were nearly absent in all cases and all most every case of fever, which were investigated found to have low platelet counts. I also donate one unit of blood and surprisingly my bleeding after donating take quite long time for stopping, I free the site after approximately 20 minutes and see my site was not healed so I also suspect that my platelet counts were also gone down may be due to journey and exertion or due to some viral infection.

Hi Saroj

How did the patient responded to crotalus 30. It'll be interesting to know. Please can you explain?

I hope now your relative is okay.

Saroj...did you not find sufficient symptoms to warrant use of Phosphorus and/or Mercurius cor. as suggested by me earlier.

See....blood count going down means liver is severely affected.

Bleeding gums + liver affected + fever + body ache etc.....lead you to the possibility of these two meds.

In a serious situation like this...even some thing pallative...which will increase blood formation will be of great help ...like China whixh is great for making new blood. (another liver remedy).

Best wishes,

Agreed- Pankaj, in similar severe acute situations, one shouldn't wait with one remedy.

How is your relative from Delhi's diet? Does he eat enough fresh vegetables and fruit?

You said '....bleeding gums with history of periodontal disease in the patient and family.'

With not only the patient, but also the family suffering from bleeding gums, this looks like a communal problem with diet, dental hygiene, or environmental conditions.

Besides remedies already given, I suggest eating a healthy diet plus supplementation of vitamin C (1000mg 3 times a day). Only 'ascorbic acid' or 'sodium ascorbate'.

Hi friends,

As far regarding response of Crotalus 30 I cannot say anything definitively as the patient was treated along with allopathic medicines and blood transfusion. But my patient responded well in comparison to other and got discharged on Monday evening after getting an adequate platelet counts 95,000.

Regarding use of Phos/Merc cor, I do not think about these medications as all the symptoms were clinical symptoms of dengue fever and also due to lack of time but my last prescription for the patient was China 30 three times a day with advised to eat apple frequently at least for three months.

Regarding, dental problem. I have noticed that inspite of until excessive dental hygiene and diet modification, periodontal disease is very difficult to cure and the patient was already prescribed by the hospital vitamin C and the case is not a case of scurvy in the absence of other symptoms.

Current situation: The patient give me a call today Thursday 19, 2006 and tell me that she had eaten fish in very less quantity but developed some abdominal distention and diarrhea last night, which is improving on afternoon when the patient give me a call. I tell her to continue China 30 and report me on night.
