Gerd & night belching

For years I have awakened around 1-3 am with a burning sensation under my breastbone and I have to sit up and belch out air to relieve the pain. (No food comes up or taste in my mouth.) I tried the Nat Phos and Mag phos 6x after meals and it worked wonders at first. But now the night time burning and belching is back. So I added Carbo Veg 30 C once a day for four days and still no relief. When I wake up in the middle of the night it is difficult to get back to sleep so I take some Kava Kava. Nothing showed up in an endoscopy. Anything in addition to the NP and MP that you could recommend? - Thanks, Anniee

Physical symptoms: Burning feeling under the breastbone from 1-3 am that wakes me up. Feels like trapped air that needs to released. It helps to sit up and belch it out. Sometimes once does it, other times I have to belch numerous times. Hard to get back to sleep. Sometimes again in the morning when I wake up it reoccurs and I belch a few times. Sometimes I need to belch during the daytime, but gravitiy is on my side since I am upright then, and it is not as disturbing as nighttime. Nothing happening in my esophogus. I sleep with the head of my mattress slanted up.

Sleep: Difficulty falling asleep. I take calcium, magnesium and kava kava to help me fall asleep. Rarely wake up feeling rested or refreshed due to sleep interruptions. When I wake up at night I begin thinking about things and find it difficult to let go of that. Sometimes need to take repeated trips to the bathroom at night.

Feet: Began having arch support problems last year, with the bottoms of my feet aching all the time. Finally got some orthodics in my shoes which help for a few months then I usually have to get them readjusted or try something new.

Mental: I am more on the serious side but have learned to have a positive attitude. I have taken on a lot of responsibility in my life and am self-employed.

I am 57 and have gone through menopause.

Anything else you need to know?

CARBOVEG 30C once a day may not set in the reaction.

As its a chronic ailment, you need to go for CARBO VEG 200C only three doses at 4 hours interval.

Note your symptoms for the next 7 days.

Another remedy which is indicated here is PULSATILLA 30C to be taken 4 hourly till a change is noticed.

if you have no or less thirst, go for PULSATILLA.

I read on this site that another remedy to try was Lycopodium 200c morning and night for three days. I am trying that now and it does seem to help somewhat. Should I continue with Lycopodium for a longer period of time or quit after three days and try the CarboVeg? Should I continue with the Nat Phos and Nat Mag after meals when on these other remedies?

Also, is this gastritis, belching, reflux condition caused by candidas - yeast overgrowth in the intestines? If so, should I be doing something for that or will the homeopathic remedies work on that as well? Thanks.

Anniee last decade
do not continue LYCOPODIUM more than 3 days, if this has started showing up the results.

the remedy which is finally going to cure you and not palliate you for short-term is the one you should take.

yes, gastritis, belching and reflux conditions can be caused by candidas.

i would suggest to go for a complete case taking based on all your mental and physical symptoms.

come back if you dont get complete cure with LYCO, CARBO VEG or PULS.

Hello,

I have taken the three doses of VegCarb at 200 and am waiting to see if it helps. In the meantime, here are my answers to the questionnaire:

1 &2) Burning feeling along with a feeling of a pocket of trapped air right under the sternum/breast bone that wakes me up between 1-3 am. Need to sit up and belch out air (no food, taste, etc. - only air). No problem in the esophogus area. Sometimes I have this build up of air and burning in the stomach area during the day, but it's more tolerable then because I'm upright and not sleeping.

3) First started about 15 years ago when I was pregnant with my first child at age 40.

4) Belching worse when I am under emotional stress/tension. Certain foods might affect it also. Sleeping flat instead of slanted up makes it worse.

5) Feels better when I belch out air until the burning and belching is over.

6) Sleep pattern: Difficulty falling asleep and staying asleep all night. Hard to get back to sleep when I am woken up with burning/belching in stomach. Have anxiety about not falling asleep and about sleeping in the same room with others because of being woken up or waking others up with my stomach problem.

7) Sensitive to cold and drafts, dampness and heavy rains, freezing cold weather.(I have been frost-bitten on my fingers and toes.) Sensitive to loud noises, and disturbing music.

8) State of mind: Fear of rejection; use to suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) with depression and crying during the Winter months but am over that now; fear of unexpected bad things happening in the future. Use to have a strong fear of death, which is better now. Fear of getting struck by lightening, drowning, heights.

9) Foods: Desire for chocolate and salty foods. Warm tea makes me feel better. Spicy foods make me feel worse. I have a wheat sensitivity and also avoid dairy.

10) Had breast cancer 5 years ago and had a mastectomy of right breast. Did not need radiation or chemo as it was the least aggressive type. Had hemmorid surgery 20 years ago. Had very infrequent mentral cycles for the first 15 years due to cysts on my ovaries. Cysts were shrunk by accupuncture and then menstrual cycles were regular but always very heavy.

11) I have tried all the over-the-counter and prescription drugs for antacids and they don't work. I am very senstive to any kinds of drugs and usually can't tolerate them.

12) History of homeopathic treatment: I recently tried three days of Lycopodium 200 twice a day. After three days I got through the night without a stomach problem, but on the next night, it returned. Am also taking Nat Phos and Nat Mag 6X after every meal. (Have lost 10 lbs taking them and I am not overweight.)

13) All other symptoms you have: Cold feet, especially at night; feel full before a meal is completed; occasional constipation; need frequent chiropractic treatments because my neck and back feel cramped, stiff, etc. Often have to get up and go to the bathroom at night.

So if anything else seems to fit my symptoms, please let me know.
Thanks much!

stop taking NAT PHOS and MAG PHOS as they are not going to help you anyway. further, continuous intake of these will harm you.

you have had cysts in your ovary which shows a dominance of sycotic miasm.thus, CARBO VEG will not help you to fully cure your disease as its only an anti-psoric remedy.

going by your mentals and the etiology of the disease, NAT MUR fits in best. this is also anti-sycotic which should cure you in the long run.

my recommendation would be to wait for 2 weeks as you have just taken a dose set of CARBO VEG.

after two weeks, you can take 3 doses of NAT MUR 200C at 6 hour interval on any one day in empty stomach.

note your conditions for the next two weeks and come back for a follow up dose if required.

3) Constipation.

10. Since how long you are suffering for each complain

I am awakened at night with a burning sensation below the breast bone. I need to sit up and belch out air (one or multiple times) - no food or taste, no burning in espohogus area.

17. How do you feel ?
I feel tired during the day because of my sleep being interrupted. Stomach problems are better during the day because I'm not laying down. I sleep with the head of my bed propped up.

18. How does this affect you ?
Makes me feel stressed out because I'm tired and need a nap every day. Feel anxious about sleeping with others in the room because I might disturb other people's sleep or they might wake me up.

I never know when I go to bed how the night will go, so it makes me feel anxious about eating and sleeping.

20. What comes to your mind ?

No prescription drugs. But I do take Vitamins B, C, E, Beta Carotene, and Calcium and Magnesium at night. Also acidopholus and Flax Seed Oil in the morning.
I have been taking Nat Phos and Mag Phos 6x (4 tablets) after each meal. At first it helped a lot for a few weeks, and now it doesn't work but I am still taking them. It also helped my constipation, but it doesn't help with that anymore either.

I am irritable when I am tired. I am also impatient, messy, hurried. I am also juggling a lot of responsibilities at the same time. I am not afraid of public speaking and can do it. I am more on the reserved side with love and affection, but enjoy giving people I know a hug when appropriate. I fear rejection in love life.
I don't like cold weather. I am on the chilly side and I have cold feet at night.
I have a fear of heights, explosions, drowning, and to some extent, death.

32. Aggravation (increases-time, season,)& Amelioration (Decreases)
Emotional stress and tension makes all problems worse. Too many bad foods make stomach worse. Worse at night when sleeping.
Better emotionally after a good cry or a good talk. Better when I can belch out air in my stomach. Better when I am relaxed.

33. Attached here your photographs of the affected area. None.

Please let me know if you have any futher questions. I look forward to hearing from you.

how do you react to consolation.

do you like somebody to console you during your tough times or do you get further irritated under such conditions.

rishimba last decade
That is a good question. But I quess I like to be consoled.

Anniee last decade
you said you drink a lot of water during the day time because you know its good for you.

this is not the answer to the question.

tell me if you really have the urge / thirst to drink water or you just drink forcefully just because you think its good for you.

also, do u have regular / chronic constipation or is it because of the english medicines you were having.

rian1 last decade
Yes, I thirst for water.

I have a bowel movement almost every day but often it is hard and small stool that does not come out easily.
