This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Hello AD, and there is actualy a lot which can be done to help the kidneys with dietary changes.

The first thing is to cut out all sugar and salt. The Kidneys as part of thier function manage the balance of the electrolytes Sodium and potassium, with these sugar and salt removed from the diet, a great burden is therefore removed and the kidneys will not have to work so hard.

Another good thing is to remove all red meat, and chicken. The protein of the diet should be taken only from plain white fish, and turkey when needed. Refined carbohydrates should lso be removed, as these tend to clog up the system which again will place extra burden on these delicate organs.

The avoidance of very sour foods is also recommended as these tend to dry out the system by inducing perspiration and urination.

include lots of fresh vegeatbles in the diet, and above all drink lots of pure spring water to aid elimination of toxic by products, unless there is a tendency to water retention, in which the intake should be a little less.

Raw, hulled sunflower seeds are EXCELELNT for the kidneys, and have a very balancing an cleansing effect, as does barley water (the liquid used to cook wholegrain barley).

I hope this helps.

Jacob, why only white fish. What is wrong with fresh salmon for example? Also I used to think chicken is fine and that chicken and turkey belong to thesame category. I mean why is turkey being recommended rather than chicken.
Do you have any other recommendation to lower proteinuria besides controlling protein intake?
