Immunizations

Hello, we are planning a trip to either the carribean or mexico (haven't decided which). We are going with our 3 children 1 of whom is not vaccinated and will NOT be vaccinated. The other two had only 2 shots each. We have not travelled with our youngest who is not vaccinated and I am a little worried. Is there anything I should do to counteract any chance of him catching a virus? Or should we just not travel with him yet? He will be 22 months at the time of travel.

Gurly, can you find out what the common diseases are in the areas you are traveling to and possibly order the nosode for that disease.

I am not a homeopath but wanted to get your thread some attention.

Helios homeopathy in the UK carries everything you could think of.

My advice would to get all the necessary immunizations done promptly. Various countries will not let you enter unless you can show that you have had them done properly - Mexico could be one of these countries. It would be a shame to travel all the way to Mexico only to find you have to go straight back home at your own expense without ever leaving the airport.

Also, no country takes any notice of homeopathic nosodes as replacements for immunizations. They want you immunized BEFORE you arrive, not bringing remedies for illnesses you may already have.

Thank you for your responses.

I have travelled several times to various countries including Mexico(4x's) and have never once been questioned regarding my immunization record.

Just to follow up regarding the common diseases in the countries that we are considering. The most common is Malaria, which I don't believe there is immunization for anyway. So even if you did have all your shots you would still be suseptable to malaria. The other is Hepc.

Malaria is very successfully prevented by a number of drugs, the best one currently being Lariam. You take one tablet once per week while you are in malaria-prone areas.

Historically, for at least 400 years, malaria in humans was prevented by drugs containing quinine. But quinine was very bitter to taste, so they mixed it with water and a little lemon juice to make it more palatable. This drink kept you healthy (by preventing the spread of malaria), so it was called 'tonic water'.

As for Mexico itself, the information you see is fairly easily found with Google: http://www.traveldoctor.co.uk/samerica.htm#2nd
