Mouth

The gingivo-labial groove is much injected,

Fauces

The tongue, roof of the mouth, gums, fauces, and throat became covered with a thick white velvety coating, growing drier and darker until the fourteenth day, when it began to loosen and detach itself, in small pieces at first, but soon came off rapidly, and was discharged by the bowels in large quantities, having the fetor of putrid animal matter, leaving the mouth, throat, stomach, and bowels acutely tender for some time,
