ABDOMEN

Abdomen

Pressive pain in the pit of the stomach, increasing from hour to hour to a cutting pain; with at last a sensation as though the epigastric region had been beaten, with slight nausea and some efforts to vomit (twentieth day),

Eating

Weakness of digestion, so that the stomach was disordered by any but the mildest food,

Feeling of emptiness in the stomach, though want of appetite at dinner (seventh day),

Burning in stomach (twenty-fourth, twenty-eighth, and thirtieth days); after dinner (twenty-ninth day); (one hour after dinner), (fourth and ninth days); in afternoon (eighteenth day),

Sudden violent pain in the stomach, in its anterior surface, a burning constrictive pain, with incipient nausea and accumulation of saliva in the mouth; the pain was aggravated by external pressure, but passed off after a few minutes; before dinner (seventy-first day),

An uncomfortable feeling of pressure in the epigastric region, half an hour after dinner (tenth day),

Food like a load (during dyspeptic attacks),

External stitches in the epigastrium and breast into the nipple (male), and in the right hypochondrium, after dinner,

Appetite good for dinner, but little thirst, contrary to the usual habit; the largely watered wine was not at all relished and had a bitter taste; after eating all the symptoms disappeared and I felt quite well (twentieth day),

Distressing sensation of hunger, though there were nausea and disinclination for the slightest food (sixth day),

No appetite for dinner, but food was relished (fifty-fifth day),

Desire to eat, though at dinner there was a want of appetite (twenty-second day),

Complete loss of appetite without aversion to food, at noon and in the evening (twenty-third day),

Eructations with taste of food (after first dose),

Flatus

Incarceration of flatulence in stomach and whole lower portion of abdomen (forty-seventh day),

Eructations of much odorless flatulence (twenty-second day),

Constant eructations of odorless flatulence (sixteenth day),

Eructations of flatus and acid matter,

Rumbling in the intestines, with emission of odorless flatulence (sixth day),

Rumbling and griping in the abdomen, with discharge of offensive flatulence (twenty-third day),

Peculiar rumbling in the intestines, lasting for a long time after a stool, followed by eructations of flatulence,

Flatulence,

Emission of flatulence,

Frequent emission of flatulence upward and downward (soon),

Nausea

Faintness in the stomach, with incipient nausea (immediately), (fifteenth day),

Dull pain in the stomach, with great nausea, lasting more than an hour,

Decided thirst, but the smallest amount of liquid caused a return of the nausea in the stomach (one hour after 30 drops), (thirty-fifth day),

Eructations and nausea (soon),

Constant rumbling noises and griping in the intestines after breakfast, soon followed by a second very thin evacuation, succeeded by retraction of the anus and some nausea (ninety-fifth day),

Sudden cramplike contractions in the intestines, with nausea, towards noon, lasting a quarter of an hour, and followed by a pasty stool, with subsequent burning and tenesmus in the anus; a similar attack about 4 and also at 10 P.M. (the last, however, not followed by stool),

Griping in the abdomen, with nausea from time to time (thirty-second day),

Vomiting

Violent pressure in the epigastric region, with nausea and inclination to vomit (after half an hour), with great effort (after one hour),

Sensation as of an overloaded stomach; this uncomfortable feeling speedily changed to a decided pressure, with nausea and eructations of rancid taste, efforts to vomit, and slight griping in the upper abdomen (after half an hour),

Pit of stomach very sensitive to external pressure; the slightest pressure caused inclination to vomit,

Hypochondria

Aching at right hypochondrium,

Boring pain in left hypochondrium (third day),

Slight circumscribed, pressive pain in left hypochondrium (after first dose),

Stabbing pains in left hypochondrium,

Sticking in the left hypochondrium (after one hour, second day),

Stitches in right hypochondrium (third day),

Tearing-shooting pains in right hypochondrium, of short duration,

Sensation of soreness in the right hypochondriac region, coming and going off at intervals during the day (after seven hours and a half, second day),

Dull pain in hepatic region, increased on taking a full inspiration, and in coughing (third day),

Dull, heavy pain in the hepatic region (fourth day),

Violent sticking in the region of the liver, aggravated by even slight pressure, in the evening (thirty-first day),

Slight shooting pain in region of liver (fifth day),

Dull, aching pain in liver posteriorly (fifth day),

Constant stitches in the liver while walking rapidly, increasing in violence and preventing farther walking, but soon disappearing, followed after two hours by a pain in the left knee, as from a sprain, which also soon disappears,

Violent stitches in the region of the spleen, extending into the lumbar region, aggravated by motion and pressure (thirty-thirst day),

Umbilical and Sides.

Sensation of weakness above the navel (as if he had taken a cathartic), on waking at 5 A.M. (eighth day),

Peculiar aching above and to the left of the umbilicus (second day),

Pressive pain in a small spot in the intestines to the right of and near the navel (ninety-ninth day),

Slight, pressive pain in region of navel (after three hours, second day),

Cutting in the left side of the abdomen, increasing and decreasing in paroxysms, lasting half an hour (first day),

General Abdomen.

Abdomen swollen and tender,

Abdomen inflated, and sensitive to the lightest pressure,

Very severe gastro-intestinal inflammation, with severe cramp in various parts of the body, chiefly calves of legs and inner parts of thighs,

Ulceration of the bowels,

Distension of abdomen, ; in evening, ; after eating,

Distension of the abdomen and rumbling in it, as though a watery stool would follow,

Great distension of the abdomen (forty-eight day),

Rumbling in the abdomen,

Rumbling in the abdomen, with uncomfortable feeling about the umbilicus (fifteenth day),

Rumbling and gurgling in the abdomen,

Rumbling and griping in the intestines (ninth day),

Frequent rumbling in the abdomen, followed by profuse pasty evacuation, after which tickling in the rectum persisted for two hours (eighteenth day),

Borborygmi, with rumbling in the colon, especially on inspiration (first day),

Movings about in the intestines (sixty-third day),

All day, commotion in bowels, with one loose passage (eighth day),

Abdominal pains,

Severe abdominal pains,

Burning over the whole abdomen after the stool (second day),

Sensation of fulness and distension in the abdomen after eating, lasting for three or four days after the proving,

Tension in the abdomen (thirty-fourth day),

Tension in the abdomen, with heaviness in the stomach, in the evening (seventy-seventh day),

Feeling of constriction in the abdomen at times (thirty-seventh day),

Griping in the abdomen, ; (45 drops, third day),

Griping in the intestines while walking in the forenoon (sixty-ninth day),

Griping in the intestines beneath the umbilicus (soon after a new dose), (one hundred and twenty-first day),

Griping and rumbling in the intestines (twenty-seventh day),

Griping in the intestines, followed by a semiliquid stool, with much rumbling in the intestines, in the morning (ninety-fifth day),

Occasional griping in bowels (40 drops),

Frequent griping in the upper abdomen, with and without stool (thirtieth to thirty-fifth day),

Slight griping and rumbling in the abdomen (after a quarter of an hour),

Violent griping in the whole abdomen (tenth day),

Violent griping pain in the upper and middle abdominal regions, on going out after breakfast, so violent that perspiration stood upon the forehead, and I feared it was the commencement of ulceration of the stomach or intestines; the pain, however, soon moderated, and after two hours and a half entirely disappeared (fourteenth day),

On being exposed to a draft of air, even on warm or hot days, there was experienced twisting and griping in the abdomen; the stools were usually hard,

Cutting, as though one were cutting and piercing the abdomen in all directions with knives (tenth day),

Cutting in the abdomen, but more in the parietes than in the intestines, lasting half an hour, towards noon (eighty-ninth day),

The whole abdomen is painful to careless touch, as if sore (thirty-first day),

Abdomen sensitive and distended the whole day (twenty-second and twenty-third days),

The sensitiveness of the abdomen did not entirely disappear after the last proving; after two months it became worse, and so continued for several weeks,

Abdomen very tender in region of sigmoid flexure,

A very tender point midway between umbilicus and spine of ilium evidently the ascending colon, which frequently bulges out (after nine months),

Hypogastrium and Iliac Regions.

Griping in lower belly, as if something was piercing the bowels; worse on deep inspiration; better on pressure; this lasted for two days,

Always awakes with the uneasy feeling in right iliac region (after nine months),

Painfulness in the right inguinal region and right hip-joint, transient (sixth day),

Pressive pain in the inguinal region, as if a hernia were about to protrude (fourth day),

Strong feeling of bearing down towards the right groin (after nine months),

Pain in left inguinal region, darting through to the right (sixth day),

Stomach

It inflames the stomach when introduced into that organ, and when injected in a considerable dose into the veins,

Swelling of the stomach,

Swelling of the stomach in the evening, with fulness and pain on pressure; inability to bear the clothes at all tight; aggravated by motion; relieved by rest (sixth day),

Stomach disordered, with heat of whole body at night; yellow-coated tongue; gnawing at epigastrium,

Disordered digestion from meat,

Urgent dyspepsia, ; with considerable emaciation,

Occasional dyspeptic attacks (after the eruption), always of the same character,

Weakness in the stomach, immediately after a dose (twenty-ninth day),

Great feebleness of the stomach in the morning,

Faintness at the stomach, some distension in the abdomen, and rumbling in the intestines (immediately), (thirty-fifth day),

Feeling of sinking in the stomach, before breakfast (seventh day),

Feeling of anxiety in the pit of the stomach (twenty-second day),

Uneasiness at the stomach,

Complains of indigestion,

Pains in the stomach (after one hour and a half),

Pain at greater curvature of stomach, with sense of weight (fifteenth day),

Severe pain in stomach, ; lasting three-quarters of an hour, on waking in morning (thirteenth day),

Violent epigastric pain,

Gastralgia, increasing till towards evening, with an anxious feeling in the pit of the stomach, and perspiration on the upper lip; this pain is confined to a small spot of the size of the finger-tip, and seated about a hand's breadth above the navel (twenty-fourth day),

Burning in the stomach, once or twice in the day (sixth day),

Burning in the stomach, extending up into the throat (forty-seventh day),

Burning in the stomach, with accumulation of water in the mouth (fifteenth day),

Burning pain at pit of stomach,

Pain in the stomach, like incipient heartburn (fifteenth day),

A feeling of internal coldness in the stomach and bowels, which was very distressing (after one hour and a half),

Fulness in the stomach, in the evening, after eating a little (eighty-fourth day),

Distension of stomach,

Uneasiness at stomach, which continued all day, and was situated about the great curvature of the stomach, about three inches below the ensiform cartilage; the sensation resembled most the feeling of an overloaded stomach (thirteenth day),

Pain in the epigastric region, commencing as an uneasy feeling of coolness, becoming a constriction, which even impedes respiration (thirtieth day),

Cramp in the stomach (after two hours), ; (seventh day),

Cramp in the stomach woke him after midnight, and deprived him of sleep for two hours; it afterwards alternated with a similar griping pain in the umbilical region,

After breakfast aching pain, beginning at the navel and rising up the throat, lasting half an hour,

Pressure in the stomach and upper region of the abdomen, while the pressure in the anus ceased, in the forenoon (ninety-ninth day),

Nausea lasting the whole forenoon, and I was obliged to take warm soup in order to relieve the distressing symptom; the soup tasted very good and afforded relief, except that pressive pain in the stomach continued, so that I could not endure the pressure of the clothes over the stomach (twenty-second day),

Nausea and inclination to vomit without being able, with mouth full of water as before seasickness; accompanied with vertigo, as if she would feel relieved in lying down; but the nausea continued, and she vomited clear watery fluid,

Great nausea with inclination to vomit, soon after taking; indeed, he would have vomited if he had not taken a morsel of bread, which immediately relieved all the symptoms,

Great nausea, inclination to vomit, and such violent retching that it caused pain in the abdomen (second day),

Excessive nausea (immediately after a new dose),

Awoke at 2 A.M., with extreme nausea, but inability to vomit (three hours after 15 drops, third day),

Violent sickness of the stomach, with great inclination to vomit, which continued for half an hour, when it gradually passed off, and he fell asleep (after twenty minutes, seventh day); sickness of stomach again, with a still greater inclination to vomit, and slight chilliness (after half an hour, eighth day),

I attempted to eat, but had scarcely taken a spoonful of soup when the sickness returned; solid food was borne very well (three hours after 30 drops), (thirty-fifth day),

Dizzy and sick at my stomach; could not lie in bed, and felt sick and very much like vomiting (a thing I have not done these thirty years), (after two hours),

Deadly sickness, and vomiting of light yellow-colored insipid fluid, whilst walking in the open air (two hours after fourth dose),

Qualmishness after breakfast, ; lasting all day,

Qualmishness, diminished by eating,

Qualmishness, coldness, trembling, and hunger, the qualmishness diminished by eating,

Qualmishness, with depression of spirits, paleness of the face, blunted sensibility, muscular weakness, with a very strong desire to be relieved of this distress, so that I attempted to provoke vomiting by putting the finger into the throat, which succeeded in ejecting large amounts of food and mucus, after which I experienced relief,

Slight qualmishness and pressure in the stomach, after breakfast (eighty-fourth day),

Squeamishness, and in half an hour vomiting of the food, quite undigested and not the least acid; followed by nausea on moving about, for several hours,
