Pinched nerve(/) on left side of neck

I've got a rather painful either strained muscle or pinched nerve on the left side of the neck.
I worked out at a gym 3 days ago and ended up with this tightening-stiffening neck.
It feels like a swollen rope along the neck if I rub my fingers across it. Rather difficult to position comfortably to sleep.
I've been trying 1M of arnica to no avail. Am I antidoting by drinking coffee?
