sick baby, need a remedy

Hi All,

I have a four month old baby boy who is sick. :-( This is his second cold this month. This one started about a week ago with mild congestion, no discharge. That night he woke up, unable to breathe through his nose while sleeping, and had green nasal discharge and green/yellow goobers in his right eye. He was not feverish at first. Over the next 24 hours he deteriorated: fever of 100, vomiting breastmilk when he would cough/gag, and his r. eye was red, watery and very pussy looking. I gave baby Tylenol and calc-c 30 for general and acute symptoms (general: large, chubby baby; sweaty head that smelled sour with illness; worse on right; mild intolerance of dairy in my diet). I saw improvement for a day and repeated the dose. Then he started doing a lot of fussing and crying-- atypical for him. Last night he cried for over an hour, apparently in pain. It is a sad cry, not an angry cry, and he wants to be held. I took him to the dr. and he is teething, as well as has a cold. As of yesterday, his lungs and ears were clear of infection. Today he is a bit worse. He is markedly worse when he wakes up. His nose is normally dry, but when he wakes the mucus flows and he coughs more. The cough is not really productive. His breathing sounds wet like there is a lot of mucus in his nose and throat. The right eye is better, but still has some white/ yellow discharge in teh corner and gets crusty if he sleeps for a long time. I have antibx for the eye from the dr, but would prefer not to use them. When he wakes up he also has a bit of a fever and is a little bit flushed and glassy. Within an hour he is mostly back to his normal self. Any remedy tips would be most appreciated-- I don't know if I should repeat calc-c or let it ride, or look for something altogether different.
THANKS! :-)

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Give him three doses of Argentum nitricum 30c, spaced around 4 hours.

Wait for a day and report.

what exact difference u note after dose of calcarea carbonica? what symptoms were removed and which exactly remained after response to 1st dose of calc-c ? how was last cold treated (one prior to this current ill)? what was his health like before the 1st cold mentioned (not current one)?

Hi Murthy,

Thanks. I read about Arg and see if it seems like a fit.

John, after calc, I felt like the eye improved-- less pus and watery symptoms. There was no green nasal discharge after calc, only clear or pale pale yellow. Less sweating and sour smell to sweat. He just seemed generally improved. But then he started to cry and fuss over his teeth, which is new. He is very restless when you try to put him to sleep, and thrashes around as he goes down.

His first cold wasn't really treated. It was very mild and I just let it run its course.

Before his first cold, I would have to say his health was good. No major problems. The only thing I had noticed was that if I ate dairy (I'm breast feeding), he becomes gassy and moans in his sleep. But he is a large, healthy, happy sort of child generally.

Thanks!
Kim

Glad that you want to make sure that the remedy fits before you give it. I wish all seekers of advice do their homework, before blindly accepting the suggestions given in the forums.

Fortunately for those who are curious lot of information is available on the net.

ok response from calc --then no repeat calc--side note better u adjust diet and had dose of calc only since breastfeeding child respond through mother's milk (4 month old)--fussy and eye pus--beter guide respnse of calc than disrupt- single dose chamomilla for u only-- 1 pellet 30c in 4 oz water stir---no repeat dose--monitor and relate respnse back--

1 teaspoon dose from the solution above mentioned--no repeat dose til assess

gastric complaint-fevef-dentition--fussy--still chamomilla--and u adjust diet--no acid foods and drinks (coffee/teas,carbonated soft drinks, fruits and fruit juices..etc) and nodairy for now---simplify ur diet--whole food nutrify---if child has been given outside food previous along with breastfed--pror and during these 2 colds--nux vomica may be more appropriate --but start with single dose chamomilla 1st --keep close in touch
