Calc Phos and Rickets

From AdvancedLearner [Log on to view profile]on 2008-05-09

In case of bone disease like Rickets, if Calc Phos is the remedy, should it be given in X like 6X or C potencies like 30C?

If some one can elaborate, it will be a great help.

Thanks.

It is correct that in case of rickets Calc. Phos is a good remedy. But it depends upon the judgement of a dr.who select the potency keeping in view the age and constitution and other symptoms. In children it works good in 6x later age of 10 and above 12x and then 30th. Potency enhancement depends upon the condition and progress of the case.

Dr. Mahfooz,

Thankyou for your reply.

If the child is 3 1/2 years baby girl with alopecia by birth and her Rickets is hereditary and Vitamin D Resistant, will that matter in potency selection? Will the potency still be 6X?

I want to discuss the case of my daughter with you in detail. How to contact you?Where you are located?

Please let me know.

Thanks.

Thankyou for the reply doctor. Following are the details of the case:

My daughter who is 3 1/2 years old is suffering from a rare type of rickets. She has all the sympotoms of severe rickets like bowed legs, big head, constriction of chest. She has lot of chest problems. We have to be very careful in winter otherwise she will get pneumonia very easily. She also has purple/blue spots on the body also. She had complete alopecia at birth (no eyes brows and eye lashes). After 3 months, eye lashes and some eye brows appeared but no hair on the scalp at all. Still at the age of 3 1/2 years she has no hair on the scalp. Her teething were delayed. First teeth appeared at the age of one year. With in one year of age she had signs of florid rickets. She started walking on time but due to rickets she found it dificult. Several Vitamin D3 600,000 uints injection were used with 3 weeks intervals without improvement. Then allopathic doctors said that it is Vitamin D Resistant Rickets. Then at 2 years of age it was diagnosed that she is suffering from Vitamin D Dependent Rickets Type II, a rare disease caused by a hereditary disorder of Vitamin D Receptor. Calcitriol, which is an active form of Vitamin D was started, and was given for one year without much improvement.

At this time, her she is suffering from very severe rickets and not able to walk. Her rickets is increasing at a very fast rate. Deformaties are increasing at a very fast pace.

We are going through such a phase that cannot be explained in words. I really request you to help me in this, that is all I can say.

Please let me know if more information is required.

This sounds more like Calcarea Carb to me.

Going by the severity, you should give 1 dose of Calcarea Carb 200C and in case she gets benefit from the dose, you should quickly go to LM potencies .

Hi Sameer,

Thankyou for your reply.

Please note that she is very weak specially from neck and NOT fat and flabby. One of the local homeopaths also adviced her calc carb 200, one dose per week, for a month. She was able to walk a bit before using calc carb after using calc carb, she stopped walking at all. Her tests showed that her serum phosphorous has decreased due to this her bone density decreased and she stoppped walking. I think her remedy is Calc Phos because we have control calcium and phosphorous but I donot know what should be the potency.

Any help is greatly apprecaited.

Dear, begin with 6x potency frequently. every two hours one dose for a week. Look for improvement in that time, then you may move on to higher potencies with improvement, like 12c, 30c, Any disadvantage, stop dosing imidiately. Keep us posted.
Best wishes.

Okay since you can observe her first hand , you are the best judge, but I must tell you that Calc. 200 once a week is bound to cause aggravations. These are energy medicines and do not bear repetition under fixed regimens unless the LMs are the potency being used.

I am not saying you should give her Calc now, but just a pointer for future that you should be very wary of "once a week 200C" kind of prescriptions.

Hi Sameer,

Thanks for the reply.

Calc Carb200 was prescribed by a local homeopath who is qualified from UK. I am not a doctor so I just followed what he said.
