Ziggy still has more vitality than she did last week

observing her belly, the abdominal fliud has continued and she is getting larger.

If I have to guess she would have approximately 1.5 liters of fliud in her abdomen

Ziggy died on my lap in front of the fireplace on Christmas day.

I took her to the vet 3 days before and was given a allopathic diuretic drug called Novo-semide, for her fliud build up in her abdomen.

John, the recommendations you made helped her the most.

She had stopped eating litter, and appeared happier, with normal thirst and urine output and a normal appetite...

but the fliud (blood plasma) that continued to fill the abdomen did not respond to the remedy treatment.

I was going to have her humanely put to sleep as it appeared that homeopathics had done what they could.

Her abdomen had become so huge it was having an affect on her internal organs

Her respiration from the pressure was difficult

bladder and bowel problems had started again etc.

The vet felt the drug would help but in fact it was the cause of her death.

The diuretic drug drew too much fliud out so quickly that her organs shut down.

The allopathic drug was a last resort by my holistic vet.

This experience has just reconfirmed my conviction to homeopathic medicine

John, Thank you for your help and support.

Just to tell you...our cat Francesca was diagnosed positively with FIP after starting eye symptoms, but lived 6 months fairly comfortably with treatment from our homeopathic vet in Germany. Apparently this is a long time for FIP. Sorry I don't remember the remedy but it wouldn't necessarily be the same. I don't think hers was the wet either. Her sister Carlotta also tested positive but received homeopathic support, never had symptoms and three years later tested negative.

Sorry to read about Ziggy - at least she was happier with the homeopathy, and you didn't have to intervene to put her to sleep (humane as it would've been.) Lost my cat to a yet undiagnosed illness not too long back, so empathize with you.
Hope you feel better in a bit.

ececelski,
For your second cat, Carlotta, what was her treatment??

I realize homeopathic treatments are individual constitutions, but would like to know what you gave.

I had read that FIP tests were not always accurate, so I did not testZiggy for FIP. The lab that tested her abdominal fliud thought that it most lilkly was FIP and our vet recognised the symptoms as wet FIP.

I recently lost a cat to this. It is so sad and hard not being able to do anything for them.
I have three other cats, and the vet recommended testing them and vaccination.
I have done extensive research, and found out about nosodes,
hpathy. com/homeopathyforums/forum_posts.asp?TID=1752&PN=1 but could only find in England or Australia.
Finally found place in US!!

After having spoken to several vets, I beleive my cat has wet FIP, possibly advanced stages. His abdomen is filling up with fluid, he is very lethargic, I just fould him laying down in his litter box, he won't eat, he drinks excessively, he is not urinating a very large amount in comparison to what he is drinking, he is crying, all he does is lay down he is not the playful cat he once was. All of this started on Wednsday. I have had blood work done, ultrasounds, x rays and am waiting on results of a FIP PCR on the fluid removed from the abdomen. My vet told me that he doesn't have typical signs of FIP but it still seems that is what we are dealing wiht. I am about to try treating him with interferon. He is already on calvamox for an abcess in his teeth. I am very afraid the end is near for my little buddy and am not ready to let him go, and i do not feel he is ready to go either, but I need some advice on what to do to help him regain his quality of life.
