toddler 14months
Hi I have a 14 month old toddler who is very bright but I am having real trouble with his screaming, demands and weaning. He had a traumatic birth,36 hours, stuck in birth canal, emergency caesar, palsy on the right hand side I think, separated from me for 3 hours (dad was with him) I immediately fed him when we met and he has been a ravenous breast feeder since. Although not a huge food feeder.
Very bright, has learnt language very quickly and is very clear about what he wants. He copies sounds and loves music. He crawled late and did not crawl properly eg cross crawl but like a crab.
He wakes screaming and is extremely loud and persistent if I am not there, he cosleeps during night with us but wakes constantly if we are not there and is very demanding -During day he wants to be held but wont look me in the face when at close proximity - otherwise good eye contact, smiles, waves, kisses. Doesnt particularly like toys but loves being outdoors (different child).
Sleeps well if in between us but will scream and then cough loudly if I refuse to breastfeed throughout the night. He wakes in the morning unhappy unless he can breastfeed immediately.
He is happy to go to family members but wants constant attention - constantly pointing 'that' that and wants to be told what everything is. He is very sensible and if told once that something is 'sharp' will remember even weeks later and remind others around him.
I know that he feels better and wakes better, if I dont continually breastfeed him at night and I am exhausted from lack of sleep and constant feeding.
Can you please suggest a remedy?
