I only have 200

My 10 yr old has fever, sore throat, earache symptoms that seem to me to match Lycopodium. I only have 200 though (my doc must have prescribed it sometime in past to someone in my family). Can I use this in some way?? thanks, liz

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
If they only SEEM to be Lycopodium, don't use such a high potention. Lyc in higher potencies is to be used only with a professional supervision

Yes, you may use the 200. When one does not have a lower or higher, use what you have. It will not cause a problem and may do the trick. One cannot just stand by and watch while they get sicker. DO NOT use aspirin or other over the counter things to lower fever. It lowers fevers and removes vit c from the body.

You didn't send enough symptoms and Lyc is more for evening symptoms. If this is more present than others, would be ok.

For fever, throat and ear all together I would lean toward BELLADONNA. IF the child is dry, hot, and yet pulling up the blanket around. Very quiet with pink/red cheeks and ears. Teeth complaints and gumboil.

ARSENICUM ALBUM if child is restless and in a world of it's own, possible hallucinations of smell and sight. Restless and burning, complaints at 3 am.

BRYONIA if very irritable: "don't touch the bed!" and with bad head ache.

CARBO VEG if she is chilly yet wants to be fanned. Upset stomach.

HEPAR SULPH if she is chilly and can't get enough covers, with greenish mucus.

All above have fevers, throat, ears.

Thanks for the quick responses!! I leaned towards Lycopodium because right-sided, wants fresh air, pain extending from throat to ears, and didn't begin suddenly or violently. For this reason thought not Belladonna or aconite, also not superhot, red, flushed, which I associate with belladonna. However what Sabra says seems to fit, he is dry, hot, pulling blanket up, and very quiet with pink ears (tho no teeth and gumboil, I don't know what that is!) so maybe I will try belladonna C30, I have that. I am not sure about time of day, he is not a complainer but says now that his ear has been hurting for several days, last night he felt sick to stomach and thiss morning it really started with stomach, throat, ear, head including dizziness. I gave nux vomica in the morning since stomach was the strongest symptom and after he threw up he felt better and stomach has been OK since. Fever started later, this afternoon and gradually getting hotter now midnight. After my last post in early evening, I did dissolve two lycopodium 200 in half glass water and gave a few sips over next couple of hours, this got rid of dizziness but nothing else. Worse symptom is head hurting. I will try the belladonna now, I just checked and now he looks more like belladonna to me, hot fever. I don't have anything against fever but he can't sleep.

Belladonna worked great for the fever, he was able to sleep soon after two doses of C30 and this morning has no fever. Other symptoms still similar though:
- bad earache both sides, worse on right side
- headache all over head especially top back and sides, "head is going to explode"
- sore throat
- pink ears
- quiet and still but not as quiet as last night, will talk and wants his cat
- dark circles under eyes
- not especially thirsty but will drink sips; some preference for warm drink
- likes covers drawn up but doesn't feel hot or cold

I am wondering whether I should I continue with belladonna or change to something else?

I would not have given the Nux v. for the morning vomiting. One must remember to see the whole picture. Most people are so indoctrinated by the MDieties that this is hard to remember.

The vomiting made him feel better, not the Nux.

Have you continued the BELL during the day; for at least 3 doses?? The headache you discribe follows Belladonna symptoms.

Thanks Sabra, yes I did continue belladonna and he continued improvement and went to school on Tues. One thing I am never sure about is how long to continue remedies. My doc in Germany would always say to give two doses usually C 30 and then stop so long as there was improvement, then give diluted sips if improvement stopped. But I often wonder, when there is improvement, the symptoms change. eg I am very clear about a belladonna fever but after the fever is gone then I am not so sure about it.
What are Mdieties?
thanks for your concern and blessings, liz
