ideas on how natural medicine works
hi, im a student studying homeopathy and would like some help!!!I would like to say skeptics please dont reply i dont want a debate on whether natural medicine works, just ideas on how.
I very much follow darwins idea on evolution and then followed on by great minds like dawkins and his ideas on the selfish gene theory and the phenotypic effect. So if one looks at the human body or well any living organism as billions of molecules and cells instead of as a whole the idea of natural medicine is very interesting.
Does anyone think it is possible that natural medicine works at a molecular/cellualr level in as much that the human cells recognises the cells from plant or animal (or human in nosode/sarcode etc) as natural and could respond to them as your bodies own to maintain a balanced of life force. (i will say that my idea of life force is less spiritual in as much i believe that an unbalanced lifeforce will leave the person susceptible to disease etc but that instead of it being spiritual its the perfect balance of hormones/chemicals and neuropetides) With the research of cynthia gage and her experiments of feelings at a molecular level and that the neuropeptides receptors being the underpinnings of our awareness, and such research of RG-1 the compound in potatos being used to help cement foreign objects to bone (the body recognises the compond as natural), and the research of nerurobiology of plants showing us that in their experiments plants have a form of communication and possible immune responses. Would this also give explantion of why the pysiological attributes of the organism relate to its properties? please help or am i completely barking up the wrong tree , its driving me mad!!!!

What you are talking about is pharmaco therapeutics ie how the remedy actually works inside the human body. You are talking about a highly speacialised and research oriented subject. But as far as the process of selection of homeo remedy is concerned it is done in the following stages-
1. Consider the totality of symptoms of the patient.
2. Scan the materia medica and identify the remedy that best represents his totality of symptoms.
3. Give that remedy to the patient in the right potency.
The homeo remedy is not exptected to do anything either at physical and mental levels. It is expected to arouse vital force. If the remedy is successful in stimulating the vital force, all psychological and physiological changes are effected by the vital force.
