Future expectations from Homeopathy

Kindly find below the discussion on another thread. Something discussed by me has taken another direction. So I am starting a new THREAD/TOPIC for convenience.
(All in double quotes is from another thread/topic. From hereon we could discuss about what is expected from homepathy today.)

Dear docs
i know a doctor who gives im and 10 m medicines 3 to 4 times a day even to babies
how come they dont prove or give aggravations.

even dr k n mathur in his book principles of prescribing has advocated gining sulphur 10 m 3 times a day for a period of nearly one year (plz read)

i dout anyone can be cured by a single dose of 30 only (chronic case).no wonder lancet calls this as placebo effect .
in bihar and bengal and uttar pradesh docs use high potencies and cure .....
even docs who preach single dose are giving multiple remedies in practise ..lol
times are changing so should homeopathy
allopaths have come a long way since pennicilin .....we should think beyond hahnemann and make homeopathy work fast .no on eaint got the time to wait till eternity to find out that the medicine prescribed was not accurate then again try a new remedy and again wait till eternity again.
homeopathy has a lot of demerits ..trial error method is on eof them .no body is sure of the remedies always asking a 100 questions ..we should look to make homeopathy more acceceptable in this fast age .....that would be real service to homeopathy and to patients
till then ......keep trying!

Though the view seems a bit extreme but yes I do agree that homeopaths should consider changing their methods.
It is easier said than done that an experienced and/or expert would prescribe correctly the first time or with just 2-3 trials/errors.
Normally even very good homeopaths do not hit correctly. Then, many of them have already deviated from standard principles by using 'multiple remedies'. Again, selection of potencies maybe too varied.
Actually homeopathy is a pathy which in its present state required excessive expertise and genius.
As an example, I went to a very very good homeopath in another city. I had minimized my homeopathic and allopathic medicines in hope of presenting myself correctly to him. He was (and probably is) very good, very sincere, let us say very intelligent and all that. Now because of removing all assistance I had developed an ulcer (which was already my tendency) by the time I reached him. When I met him, I was ok but still I was unable to concentrate. I tried to communicate best whatever I could to him in that 1 hour but I felt quite unsatisfied and uneasy.
He started me on a simple medicine of 6c. The next day, even before I started the medicine, I had started to feel quite hot and thirsty and all ulcer symptoms were showing up which is normally difficult for even me to recognize at the start. I took just two doses of this 6c diluted in water.
Further next day, I reached back in my city. I bled there due to ulcer and had lots of problems recovering. Initially it showed as if the medicine hit and worked and aggravated causing a bleed but actually my long experience told me that the delay of several hours in bus followed by hunger and not taking any supportive medicines since 2-3 months caused the ulcer. The doctor too agreed sort of and tried to help me out and continued.

The point is, in 'Ayurveda' the 'vaidya' (doctor) first sees the pulse of the patient and other symptoms. A ideal perfect doctor is supposed to catch the up coming danger from this and treat the patient suitably. Similar in homeopathy, Kent has described how you (homeopath) go to some patient's house and happen to read the condition of a (critical) patient and select remedy even without much interaction with the patient.
From my example it seems that a homeopath should always be very alert and be able to read the state of a patient immediately even before any interaction starts otherwise he/she is going to miss a correct treatment on those who are in 'emergency' but are not apparently so when they have reached him/her.

There can be many things to be argued that really good doctors of all pathies are always alert enough and it is anyway a part of their 'normal' work to start reading from the 'start'. But for homeopathy this all seems to need even more special and intelligent doctors...!!!

In these cases, there siucceses are inspite ofd homeopathy rather than because of homeopathy.

How can you say that there are no problems with such methods? Can you site any study in favour of the same?

It is all rhethorical and is not based on any solid foundation.

Re: 10 m 3 times aday From DR LOKESH KUMAR on 2009-07-04
I agree upto some extent .Dr Hahnemann has given us a great foundation to work on .it indeed was very difficult for the doctors at that time to prove drugs on themselves .inspite of that we must try out different theories to make homeopathy work fast and accurate .also sometimes repertisation is very mechanical and gives wrong results. what happens to the rare medicines which was not proved very well ?we need more accuracy rate in homeopathy and not guess work.the patient of today is tuned to allopathic system and unaware of his minor symptoms .They get irritated if asked too many questions and might not turn up next time.
homeopathy is made for sensitive educated individuals who were present during hahnemanns and kents time and not for lower class people who cant even differentiate a normal stool from an abnormal one...lol , making the task of a homeopath very difficult ...
this is an interesting thread and needs to be discussed more with experiences of other doctors and how they handle such situation

I told about my actual experience and similar things have happened more than once with me and others like my father (though with allopath).
It may not be possible to write all such incidents. Do repeated actual experiences not have a solid foundation? Does one always have to document it formally? ...I am not a researcher in medicine...
In fact, if there are researchers in medicines/homeopathy they have a good subject to study from what I have mentioned. Maybe some of them should come to me and try to find out the truthfulness of my statements and then start some research. It has to be their own initiative, energy and money. It possibly cannot be done by me. I am not from medicine but rather a common person, a suffering patient requesting to the pathies in some form of complaint to bring out solution(s).

Niel Madhavan's reply seemed a bit too 'quick' to me.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
What I wanted to say exactly is what Dr. Lokesh Kumar has said. I fully agree. This was what I was trying to say.
Of course, I wish to say / write much much more but only if it is useful.
Actually people like me are patients and sufferers. If some group/pathy/science claims of something we will immediately try to 'try' that out. Generally we would be sincere in following the rules of that method/pathy. But thereafter it is the problem of that group/pathy/science to bring results of accept flaws.
I have seen several homeopathic doctors convey this after a long treatment and when the patient is not relieved and keeps begging for relief:
'Kindly consult some other prescriber...if you want faster result'.
The doctors saying so probably feel that this was the shortest and reasonable way of giving their message and that they have neither stopped the treatment nor said any unkind words, etc. to the patient.
But I feel that there can be a still better way of conveying whatever message they want to give.
When they have said so, the patient generally feels he/she may have hurt the doctor's feelings or may have begged too frequently for a relief and the patient keeps apologizing. The patient may also feel disappointed internally (without expressing it) and may actually want to leave the doctor. But still he/she keeps hope and continues because he/she is still suffering and there is no way to go.
Are we now going to say to such person that since there was no other way to go the person should now understand this anyway continue or just skip?
Why such expressions are not used - 'Just keep a little patience and you will be alright...but you will have to bear a little till then...' or...similar reassuring expressions....?
Are the homeopathic doctors not sure at all? Is it that due to uncertainty or something similar, the above expressions don't actually apply, so they don't use it?
They will generally curtly say after a dose...'Wait...keep waiting...wait 'N' days'. This would all be fine provided the patient was not suffering for months (and the patient is many times not having terminal illness).
I do not know why the homeopathic doctors use the expression....'....Now we will never know the effect of this dose...'. This is said as if '...now nothing can be done, this is irreparable and you world would collapse...'

I have written too much. But let me add in the end that I have highly believed in the philosopthy and science of homeopathy and therefore used it for years. I respect homeopathy very much.
But I have highlighted some of the complaints.
