Hi! bris,

Thanks. Dr. Jan scolten's three days seminar in Vancouver in november 2008 was really a great event where in i got to learn the technique intimately. I ordered the remedies from Remedia and even earlier failed cases through my hands have been tackled successfully specially crohon's disease, migraines, cases facing disturbances on relationship axis and interpersonal relations in the family and even the extended family.I am enjoying the discussion as there is so much to learn from. There are as many remedies for a given patient as are the number of homeopaths on this planet. However the sole aim of the physician is welfare of the sick through restoration of his health.

If you are able, I would love to see some of those cases. I just haven't quite got the hang of the Lanthandies so I would love some pointers :)

Hi! bris,

I will love to share the crohon's cases of a mother and her son with you. But the privacy rules prohibit me to do the same on the forum. However, i shall seek permission of the patients before i share publically or else i shall share on your private e mail on assumed names.

and another bump for new people. This was quite a heated discussion, I had forgotten about it.

Vithoulkas said that Sankaran caused more damage to homeopathy than all of it's detractors put together!

Yes I have read several interviews where he has said that too. While I have great respect for Mr. Vithoulkas I believe he is very misguided in his criticism.

The true enemies of homoeopathy remain the allopaths, the pseudohomoeopaths who do not practice the basic principles (which Sankaran does), and the pharmaceutical companies.

The thing with systems like this, is that they need to be tested. Nobody should accept them as 'law', no matter who it is that claims it.

I have attended several seminars by Dr. Sankaran, his wife Divya, or the other members of the Mumbai group of doctors who participate in the research of the new case-taking methods and provings. Their approach has been consistently blended with the philosophy in the Organon. They always prescribe a single medicine based on the totality of the case, with special attention to the miasm AND to the presenting complaint. They always obey minimum dose, and recently are vocal regarding the virtues of the LM potencies. All cases are backed by clinical and proving information. Most of their cases are video cases so you can see the patient, hear them describe their complaints, and see the improvement in visual follow-ups. So the criticism levelled at them always mystifies me.

are you using the word miasm in singular?

Their method has always been to approach a case from a single understanding, where miasm and problem are one thing. So they only address one miasm (either at a time or as a life-long issue).

Their method typically is to treat miasm as the chronic pattern in a patient's life, and to make a prescription that takes into acount a life-long totality.

Having said that, their focus is always to understand the disturbance in the vital force by understanding the presenting complaint, and they use a 'circular' method of case-taking where you start with the main problem, cycle through all affected levels, and come back to confirm the general state in the main complaint again.
