Infant Constipation

I have a 10 week old, strictly breastfed, infant experiencing progressively longer periods of time between bm's. It has now been 12 days. Prior to this, it was 10 days, and prior to that it was 5 days. My baby seems to strain and grunt most mornings for about 10 minutes or so, but otherwise is fine throughout the day. She does not seem to be irritable, her stomach is not firm, and she is otherwise mostly happy and poop, she does not strain or calm. She is gassy throughout the day, but never cries or seems to be in pain as a result. When she does finally seem to be in any pain at all, and the final is soft and about the consistency of a puree. I have concerns about how long her bm's are taking and worry that these infrequent bm's may cause her problems down the road (even though she does not seem to be in any pain right now). I have tried different juices (diluted in equal parts) - she refuses the prune juice and does ok with apple juice, and have also tried karo syrup which she ends up throwing up. I have only tried these (karo & apple juice) inconsistently. Nothing seems to be working lately. Does anyone have any suggestions on anything I can try to help her along and make her more consistent overall?? Perhaps there is something I can include in my diet to pass along to her, or that I can give her directly?? Many thanks...

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Please give her three doses of Nux Vomica 30c at a gap of 4 hours and see how it affects her in next 7 days. If it doesn't work you may try Alumina 30c in the same way after 7 days. In the meantime you may give her 1 pellet of kali mur 6x in the morning and 1 pellet of silicea 6x in the evening.

day 1
three doses of nux vomica 30c at a gap of 4 hours

One dose means
If the medicine is in pills form 2 pills. Don't touch pills with hand. Use cap of bottle to take pills.
If the medicine is in liquid dilution form, 1 drop in some 10 ml water. Sip up slowly.

day 2 to day 6
1 pellet of Kali Mur 6x in the morning and 1 pellet of silicea 6x in the evening

if there is reief stop
if no relief proceed
day 7
three doses of alumina 30c at a gap of 4 hours
One dose means
If the medicine is in pills form 2 pills. Don't touch pills with hand. Use cap of bottle to take pills.
If the medicine is in liquid dilution form, 1 drop in some 10 ml water. Sip up slowly.

Thank you so much! I do have a few questions.
First, is kali mur the abbrev for kali muriaticum?

Also, is there an alternate dosage to the 6x, which I have found difficult to find locally? 30c?

Also, I have heard that calcarea carbonica may be helpful as well in treating infant constipation? She does also have the cradle cap symptoms and tends to be of a 'cold' nature (cold and sometimes clammy hands and feet). Will the calcarea carbonica help with constipation as well, or should I stick with your day 1-7 dosages only?
Thanks again for your help.

If you are not able to procure Kali Muriaticum and Silicea in 6x potency, don't give theses remedies daily. Anyway, in the light of the new information that you have provided 'She does also have the cradle cap symptoms and tends to be of a 'cold' nature (cold and sometimes clammy hands and feet)', you can right away give her calc carb 30c thrice a day at a gap of 4 hours (for one day, not daily) and report back after 3 days. The schedule appearing in my post above stands cancelled now. As she has a chilly constitution we may consider silicea 30 and nux vomica 30 later in future.

I will try this, thank you.

I tried the calc carb 30c remedy, 3x a day, three days ago. There was a very small amount of loose stool that night, but nothing since then. Are there other remedies to try to help with a bowel movement? Today is day 15 without a regular bowel movement.

If there is some change to better in her behaviour and cradle cap symptoms after giving calc carb, you may repeat it in the same way. If there is no change you may try silicea 30c in the same way. If there is still no change we should opt for nux vomica and after that Graphites. You should observe the changes. There should be a gap of atleast two days between the remedies otherwise you won't know it's effects.

After the second full day of calc carb our baby finally had a full bowel movement (day 15). I stopped the calc carb after that and cradle cap symptoms returned. Should I continue giving calc carb until cradle cap is completely gone? Also appearing over the last several days/nights is congestion while she is laying down, and sleeping at night.

It is better to give her Calc Carb 30, three doses once a week if she has symptoms like constipation, congestion or cradle cap. If Calcarea Carb 30 stops working you should give calc carb 200 in the same way. This method of dosing is better than giving doses daily. The remedy should get time to work.

Cradle cap seems to have improved to almost gone, but congestion and constipation are still very prominent. Tomorrow will be day 10 without a bowel movement and straining appears to be worse this time than ever in the past. You have recommended calc carb 30,which I have done in the past. You also recommended other treatments if the calc carb no longer works - which seems to be the case now with the added straining. Should I try silicea 30c, nux vomica 30c or the calc carb 200 at this point, and in what dosages?
Thank you...

Silicea and Nux Vomica look good as straining has increased. Calc Carb may be tried in 200c potency first and if there is no result within 2 days Silicea 30 should be tried. Nux 30 should be considered 2 days after giving silicea.

The Calc Carb seemed to work last time with a bowel movement on day 13. We are now on day 17 and I have tried calc carb 30 about 1 week ago and four days ago, followed by calc carb 200c two days ago and still nothing. There is no straining or obvious or constinuous discomfert so I am wondering if we should move on to the Silicea? There are still minor patches of dry skin patches on forehead and up to very front/top of the head but otherwise cradle cap is completely gone. Also, baby has started teething recently and I have been giving her highland's teething tablets throughout the day for the past week (calc phos 3x, chamomilla 3x, coffea cruda 3x, belladonna 3x). We are wondering what to try next??

You may give her a single dose of Calc Carb 1M. If nothing happens in 2-3 days, you may give her 3 doses of Alumina 30c thrice a day at a gap of 4 hours for one day and see.

I have 30c and 200c on hand today - is there an equivalent that I can use with these? Otherwise I will have to order 1m. Thanks.

Ok. You may repeat Calc carb 200 and if it fails to work you may give alumina later.

I tried the calc carb 200 again yesterday and will see how that works. There was bad straining last night, but still nothing.
As far as bio plasgen - I have been unable to find that locally - or even online. I will research this further, but I am U.S. based - where can I purchase bio?
