The ABC Homeopathy Forum

inspired by kuldeep -using pearl powder like silica?

I have been captivated by Kuldeep's discussion on Silica and using the mountain water to cure acne and boils. I love it when people use their minds and creativity to come up with new cures.

On that subject, I am wondering about Pearl Powder. I have a bottle of pure, hydrolyzed pearl powder that I purchased from Dragon Herbs in Los Angeles, California. This company is very highly regarded as a good source of Chinese herbs and products. I have done much research about Chinese Herbs and I am well aware of their dicey nature if the company is not ethical. Dragon Herbs is ethical. With that said, the breakdown of pearl powder is 92% calcium compounds or 38% calcium element. The calcium contained in hydrolyzed pearl exists in its ionic form, so it is easily dissolved in water and is virtually completely absorbed in the intestines. Absorbability into the bone, from what I can determine from research, can be very high and cell utilization is thought to be extremely efficient.

That's the physcial aspect. Now to the mental aspect.

Looking through many books on gemstone elixirs, pearl continues to come up as the "ultimate" emotional balancer, able to soften and stabilize emotional highs and lows. There are also many mentions of the astrological significance of pearl to the moon since pearls are said to grow larger around the full moon and, thus, be affected and/or motivated by the moon's force. The moon, of course, has aspects to the emotional structure, thus the connection of the pearl gem elixir to the emotional balance.

Where am I going with this? Well, say we take 10 of these capsules (they are all 500 mg. capsules) and repeat the process described by KULDEEP in his Silica stories. What do you suspect will be the possible physical and emotional outcome?

Yes, yes, yes. You will reply to this email and say "Go ahead and try it, you fool, and tell us!!!" Hey, I'd love to. But I am currently on a course of Belladonna and would like to see how that single remedy works for me as it seems to be slowly doing a good job.

Or perhaps someone will say that incorporating pearl in this way with Belladonna (separating the dose by hours, of course) is a good fit? The old "Why did your intuition give you this idea if your body didn't want you to try it?" may come into play.

Would LOVE any and all comments to this idea.

Thank you!

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
I forgot to add two things to this theory:

1. In China, Pearl is know as the "supreme Shen stabilizer." Shen is where the heart resides in the sense of the "emotional heart." It is also known as "our spirit" or "higher consciousness." Where Shen is disturbed, there can be no ease of thought or feeling. Pearl is prescribed in China to address sleep disorders where the emotions wreck havoc with the mind, for anxiety that "wanders", nerve disorders and nerve weakness.

2. I can't seem to find it in text, but I seem to recall reading somewhere that Pearl Powder is a good form of Calicum Carbonate. Would it then follow that Pearl has the same or similar aspects to Calc. Carb in the cell salts?

Another note: I have been taking the Pearl Powder capsules (1 500mg. cap at night) for almost one year. I did it as an experiment to see if it would help my sleep pattern and also reduce the fine lines around my eyes. That is yet another popular use for Pearl in the Orient. Women apparently consume the pearl to improve their skin quality, reduce age lines and regenerate new cells to provide better elasticity to the skin as it ages. I can say that I have noticed a difference in my skin texture and that there is greater smoothness and a seeming reduction in fine lines around my eye area since I've been on the Pearl Powder. Also, other people have noticed the change around my eyes.

So, it seems that perhaps in a homeopathic preparation, this Pearl Powder might aid a great deal of physical/emotional issues.

Perl powder had following ingredients.

Nat. Muricatum
Cal. Carbonica
Silica
Epsum Salt

(May be more)

Actually you gave me an idea to evaluate this remedy and I will look into it seriously.

kuldeep last decade
Kuldeep,

There are also traces of Mag. Carb as I've just discovered.

Well, I couldn't wait. I've just made up a batch of the stuff based on your silica instructions. I placed 15 grams of Pearl Powder (30 500 mg. capsules) in a glass jar (obviously, I opened the capsules and poured the very fine powder into the glass container). I added one liter of pure, filtered water. I shook it vigorously and after 20 minutes I saw that there was just about a teaspoon of fine powder at the bottom of the jar. Since I am using hydrolyzed pearl powder, this was expected because hydrolyzed powder is water-soluble. However, there is still the murky remnants of the powder ala the silica water you described. I decided to shake it vigorously again out of curiosity to see what happens (i.e., to see if more of the powder can be assimilated into the water.)

Question, since there is not much settling to the bottom as must happen with the silica rocks, must I decant ONLY the top 1/3 of the water? I really don't want to waste a drop of this mixture. I will add brandy to preserve.

After reading thoroughly through the Calc. Carb and Mag. Carb descriptions, I am amazed that there are similarities to Belladonna which you noted was my constitutional remedy. What do you think, Kuldeep, about using two drops of this Pearl Powder at bedtime? Will there be a conflict? I just don't want to screw up any effects from the Belladonna.

Glad I got you thinking on this one. You're a true inspiration.

laddy111 last decade
Kuldeep,

I looked up Nat. Mur and see many similarities with Calc Carb AND Belladonna. I also see many similarities with what's going on in my life right now. So, it seems my intuitive juices re: using the pearl powder in this way was my body talking to my mind. I guess you can thank Good Ol' Belladonna for triggering this insight? : )

Now, onto my progress with this mixture:

Upon examination of the jar after the second shaking, I now have even less of the very fine Pearl Powder at the bottom of the jar. Approximately a pinch or maybe 1/8 teaspoon. If I continue this shaking, I'm assuming I'll end up with nothing left on the bottom and the pearl powder will be completely dissolved in the water.

Question #1: Am I potentizing this mixture each time? If so, any idea what I'm doing here re: potency?

Question #2: How much brandy do I add to the mixture if I keep the whole liter of water mixture so I can preserve this safely?

Damn, this experiment is fun!

laddy111 last decade
Hello Laddy

It is nice to see you here. You too, getting creative, God bless you.

There is no need to potentize and for the time being there is no need to add any preservative into it. Try it and see what happenes.

After reading my posts many people are doing experiments with various things and they email me. I alwasy suggest them to come to this site and post their doings but nobody comes here. Thank God you made it to here.

If those people come to this post and inspire others to do the same experiment and we can get the feedback. It will be like doing clinical trials.

kuldeep last decade
I have shaken the mixture four times and there is NO powder left in the bottom of the glass jar. I will take 1 teaspoon tonight before bed and let you know how I sleep and how I feel when I post tomorrow. The reason I'm doing it at night is because traditionally Pearl Powder is taken in the Orient later in the day or evening since it nourishes the "Shen."

For Kuldeep or anyone else who is interested in learning more about Pearl and how it's used in Chinese medicine, here is a link to the Dragon Herbs' website that deals with Pearl.

http://www.dragonherbs.com/herbs/herbs.asp?herb_id=13100

Reading this info may trigger more ingenious, creative ideas for how this unknown dilution may benefit others.

laddy111 last decade
I think I'll write this like you see in the MM.

Please keep in mind everyone that I am also doing Belladonna 30x in the water dilution as per Kuldeep's suggestion. I'm doing anywhere from 2 to 4 teaspoons a day of that mixture. But the Pearl Powder solution I am keeping only for just prior to bedtime as I noted above.

mind, sharp edges of emotions are more "rounded" in feeling

dreams, of parents
dreams, perverted sexual encounter that disturbs
dreams, thinks she is awake and moving about the house and encounters known individual (harmless) cleaning house

sleep, wakes at 1am
sleep, wakes at 5:50am
sleep, even when tries to think of day or go over ideas in head, seems to be a soft block that prevents it in order to sleep

wakens feeling refreshed
wakens feeling alert and sharp
wakens with clearer clarity of purpose for the day

That's all I can think of now. I have had a slight rash from a combo of dry mountain air and cold temperature and a drippy nose that has been going on for three weeks now. It started before I got on the Belladonna. The left nose is much more stuffed in the morning especially but it remains so throughout the day. I will be interested to see if the Pearl Powder helps dissolve this odd rash under my nose and above my mouth. There seem to be pin point blisters or slight pimples (much more looking like little blisters though) under my nose and about 7 on the tip of my nose. It feels like an acid condition has been let loose on my skin accompanied by the cold, windy and sometimes snowy weather.

Two more points of interest:

Last night, my husband cut the palm of his hand with a one inch superficial gash that bled for about 2 minutes. This would usually set me off visually and make my mind do cartwheels due to seeing blood. I was surprisingly NOT mentally startled by the bloody cut and calmly got him something to put on it without going into hysterics inside my mind. Sooo, one here's to Belladonna's mind balancing strength.

Second, out of the blue, my husband said I looked "different" this morning. When I said "how different," he said, "Prettier." Okay. I looked in the mirror, and frankly, I look the same. But HE maintained that I looked different than I did when I went to bed last night.

Just a coincidence??? Or does Pearl.....Naw, no way...Then again....

Off subject, Kuldeep, but I noted in another thread on the Forum that you are leaving for India in mid-April. Not to take the spotlight from all the other excellent homeopaths on this Forum, but will you be checking in with the Forum while in India? Will you have a different email? I do not want to crowd your email anymore than it already is (200 emails on Graphite alone??? Holy cow! When do you have a personal life??) Let us know, eh?

laddy111 last decade
Hello Laddy

You are doing really good. Keep doing good work. I will be going to India in April for the rest of 2005, why? It is a long story.

Of course I will slow down on this forum but you can contact me on emails.

Actually I am spending about 2 hrs each day on this forum because these days it is too cold to walk around.

Interesting what has happened to the pearl powder in the glass jar that I keep in the refrigerator. There is a superficial cloudiness on the bottom of the jar but no sight of any powder or single granule left from the pearl powder. I think is a good sign of the hydrolyzed pearl and the fact that it certainly DOES dissolve effectively in water. The rest of the water is a beautiful, clear, almost vibrant looking liquid.

So, took one teaspoon dose last night.

Desire to take hot bath at night which soothes

One hour after dose, excessively sleepy

dreams, of speaking up and standing up to extended family members

dreams, varied
dreams, detailed

awakened, sluggish, wanting to go back to sleep again

sleep, awakened at 1am
sleep, awakened at 4:44am

sleep, deep between 1am and 4:44am

Not as easily startled (NOTE: This could be the Belladonna';s effect. I have ceased taking the Belladonna as of March 16, but will resume on a once a week basis starting next week).

Skin rash above lip, diminished with far less burning of skin

That's all I can think of for now.

KULDEEP, are you trying this experiment yourself? You said you were interested in its value. If so, let me know what you discover. Also, have you defined the elements within Pearl Powder? You noted Nat. Mur (I can't find that one noted, where did you find it?), Calc. Carb, Epson Salt and Silica.

To everyone else reading this, it would be great if more people got on the bandwagon and tried this experiment. It's safe, I tell you. I have no problem reporting what happens to me but it makes more sense if more people see its effects. Remember, my effects are not the end-all, be-all of this possible remedy.

Also, to KULDEEP, what do you think I am making here if the Pearl Powder has at least those FOUR elements to it? Is this Poly-Pharmacy? Is this even homeopathy?

Look forward to your ideas and anyone else who would like to jump in and express their opinion on this subject.

Don't be shy.

laddy111 last decade
Hello Laddy

In homeopathy a material is considered as a whole. It is not polypharmacy. So dont' worry about its ingredients. Acually I never had any idea about using Perl powder but I will use it. I will obtain it and recommend people to use it.

I've come to feel today that the Pearl Powder water is definitely softening the edges of my emotions. That's the best way to describe it. I personally feel that this Pearl Powder is a good compatable companion remedy to go along with Belladonna since I know with Belladonna personalities, they tend to have firery rages, are quick to explode and need nerve-nourishment. So, I am now going to start taking the Pearl Powder solution four to five times a day at one teaspoon per dose since I am going to do a weekly dose of Belladonna 30x. I am just so curious to see what will happen by adding the Pearl Powder and I don't feel intuitively that one teaspoon at night is enough.

So, two questions come up. I have a friend who is now intrigued by my experiment and wants to give this remedy a shot to see if it helps her nervous sleep problem. KULDEEP, do you think it is imperative to maintain the 15 grams (30, 500 mg. capsules) of pearl powder for making her a liter of the water? I have them available but I also have a feeling I am going to run out of my supply when word gets out how this is working. I used the 15 grams as a marker since you mentioned using 20 grams of rock for the silica experiment. If I could get away with using less, I'd have more to go around. If I use less, does that adjust the potency upward (say from 3x to what?)

Secondly, let's say that when my jar of pearl powder water gets halfway down, I add another half to bring it back up to one liter. What have I done to it homeopathically? Isn't it a good idea to gradually increase the potency as we go to augment the healing aspect? If I could do this, I could make my liter last longer. PLUS, I'd like to know what the potential is for increasing the healing modality. Is this something you have done with the silica rock water? (i.e., added more water at half way to it?)

So many questions but so much fun.

Write back when you can.

I ran across this info tonight on pearl:

"Pearl is the oldest known gem, and for hundreds of years was considered the most valuable. Once thought to be the tears of God, Pearl is said to help you see yourself and improve self worth. Pearl is said to help restore emotional imbalances; and provide relief from stomach pain, ulcers and intestinal tract disorders. A pearl water tonic is thought to increase vitality, relieve eyestrain, and ease pain from burning urination. To prepare, place a few small pearls in a glass of water overnight. Drink the water the next day. Pearl is a natural antacid and anti-inflammatory. A symbol of love, success, and happiness, Pearl assists in maintaining focus, eliminating misfortune and emphasizes personal integrity. An emblem of faith, charity, innocence, modesty, chastity, and purity, Pearl is considered the ideal wedding gift.

Pearl powder, which is used as a skin whitener and a cosmetic, is still popular in China today. A very porous stone, Pearls will soak up almost any substance they are in contact with, including perfume and cosmetics."

And then from the Ayurvedic point of view, this info:

"The pearl is the gemstone of the planet Moon and helps to overcome problems related to this planet.

The formation of a pearl inside a pearl oyster is thought to occur because of the presence of foreign material inside the body of the oyster. To save itself from the undesired material the mollusk coats the object with layer after layer of nacre. It takes many years for a mollusk to produce a pearl of substantial size. The process through which the pearls are formed inside the body of the mollusk is very delicate, and a little disturbance at any stage of development of a pearl can influence its shape and luster. The finest pearl is that which has no foreign matter in its core."

Using this last bit of info, would the signature of the pearl's formation help those who feel the need protect themselves or build a protective shield around them (i.e., excess body weight brought on by a need to protect oneself mentally)??

The reference to the moon should intrigue Kuldeep in that Cancer is ruled by the moon. He made mention that astrologically Belladonna is assigned to Cancers. Thus, would Pearl Powder resonate with those on Belladonna?? (Something I have already proposed based upon my own circumstances.)

Please, anyone, join the discussion. It looks like we're having over 400 people checking into this thread. Doesn't anybody have anything to offer? Suggest?

I got to bed very late last night (midnight) past my normal time, so I'm not sure if my body was out of whack.

I took a total of three teaspoons yesterday throughout the day, ending with the third dose right at bedtime. I poured a dose into a glass to have during the night but ended up drinking it this morning instead upon waking.

Not much to report but:

awakened, 4:41am

dreams, varied and detailed

Continued "softening" of my emotions. This morning, got phone call message on tape from my step-daughter who is a regular wreck (always a drama, on lots of meds for her mental imbalances, been arrested for D.U.I., smokes pot, etc.). She was hungover and "wanted to get to know me better." Uh...don't think so. I stopped calling back people who are drunk or hungover when I was in college, thank you. So, I called my husband to report this lovely morning call and I found myself to be surprisingly straight forward, not yelling, concerned but not allowing my head to be spinning in all places.

When I woke this morning at 6am, I drank the dose of Pearl Powder I set out last night. I went back to sleep about 30 minutes later and slept VERY soundly until 9:30am. I also had a dream where I was shown a round ruler with numbers that corresponded to homepathic potencies. The person I was with (don't know who it was but it was a man) pointed to the number "6" on the round ruler and said, "This is the most important potency." Intriguing, eh? Don't know if it was "X" or "C" but I feel it was "X."

I just read Joe's info on the homeopathic doc who helped his family with sciatica. While I didn't understand everything about how that doc potentizes, the number "6" came up in his info.

Hmmmmm.

Any ideas from anybody would be really welcome!

Just ran across some interesting info on Pearl that deal with the effects it can have on the higher levels of consciousness.

"Pearl resonates with the crown chakra.

Soothes and heals the negativity and struggle in one's life.

Dissolves negative energy that attaches to one's auric field

Heals negative thought forms and thoughts

Moves attachments and psychic attacks out of the auric field. Can release negative karmic patterns.

Calms and soothes the emotional body. Heals the negative inner voice and subpersonalities."

That last one that refers to "subpersonalities" intrigues me. Also, the use of the word "dissolve" resonates with what I have been feeling when I say it "softens" the edges.

"Dissolves" could be another important key word here as I feel strongly that there are elements of what I am feeling that fit that word to a tee.

Woke at 3:31am

Interesting emotional response: No matter how much I try to get upset or wound up about something, I cannot get myself to that level. It's not a deadening of emotion but a continued feeling of a smoothing over of emotional ridges.

Being that I am someone who tends to get quickly hot under the collar (remember, folks, Belladonna Constitution), this is an interesting side effect. Of course, once again, I feel that the Belladonna is also playing a role in this emotional reduction.

Yesterday afternoon, as I saw that I had consumed half a liter of the Pearl Powder remedy since the start, I diluted the Pearl Powder and added enough water to bring it back up to
a full liter. I then continued to take three more doses of it. I intend to do this dilution again when it gets halfway down again.

I take a dose before bedtime and have a dose in a glass ready at my bedside for taking first thing in the morning. I noted this morning that when my husband started telling me of his concerns for the day at work, I did NOT do what I usually do and that is commence with a pep talk to make him feel confident. Instead, I LISTENED. Wow. Breakthrough. And I listened CALMLY and CLEARLY without getting that irritable, fearful twist in my gut.

Slept well and deeply last night with no wake ups that I can recall. I did have lots of varied dreams again but none I can remember. I was VERY tired upon waking this morning and did not want to get out of bed. Once I got myself going, I was fine.

Question: Are Forum readers really interested in this process I'm experimenting with or shall I cease reporting my daily findings? I ask this only because I do not want to bore or take up space that others could use to get help. I see that there are a fair number of people visiting this thread. However, if no one posts an answer to this question below, I will stop reporting my daily effects unless something momentous occurs.

Thank you for your interest.

So many things about the pearl seem appealing to me, and lately I have wanting to wear them, tho I don't own any (I go thru phases where I crave certain "stones" in earrings or whatever).

However, the whole softening of emotions seems to NOT apply to me. I've been kindof dead emotionally for a long time and am just now learning HOW to get upset. Wouldn't want to upset the upsetting :-)! Of course, the opposite is always in us...

I don't read thru all the details but I am interested in what heppens w/ you and the pearls!

Rebecca

Rebecca last decade
Rebecca,

I understand what you are saying. Perhaps Pearl is not for you if you need to feel ire. For me, I think and feel too much and need a softening of my emotions in order for me to see with clearer eyes that are not clouded by ego and anger at things that are just not that important in the end. For me, the Pearl seems to be filtering out the vitriol and working as a good companion remedy to Belladonna. It would be wonderful if there was somebody out there who was a Belladonna Constitution and tried to Pearl to see the effect.

Report for today:

Sleep is very deep in the morning and I am having more trouble getting myself out of bed. Once up, though, I am fine and very clear on what needs to get done.

Over the weekend, when I raised the dose by one teaspoon a day, I had a very thorough cleansing of the colon without it being loose. Since I tend toward constipation, this was a "rewarding" effect that I can assume was possibly from the higher amounts of Pearl I was taking. No bowel movement at all yesterday but I did not eat much food so I'm hoping that's the reason.

By the way, if someone wants to do this experiment, understand that I am not ingesting ground up pearls. I am using HYDROLYZED pearls that have been cultivated for ingestion. The only place I purchase them is through Dragon Herbs in Los Angeles. A bottle of 100 capsules is $32.00. I started out with 30 capsules diluted in the water and have now added more water (as mentioned above). If I keep adding more water (which I intend to do to slowly raise the potency), that one bottle could last indefinitely.

KULDEEP, still want to know how important it is to use a specific amount of pearl material to start this out? Could I get away with just 15 capsules of 500 mg. capsules to start a new jug? I have people wanting to try this and I'd like to conserve my Pearl capsules as much as possible.

Woke at 4am and then again at 5:30am. Sleep is deeper but the dreams continue to be varied and detailed. However, I cannot remember any of them.

One positive skin reaction to report. For nearly four weeks now (prior to beginning the Belladonna), I have had what I would describe as an "acid rash" above my lip that extends all the way to below my nose and a bit around my nose. It is more a dry, scaly rash-like skin problem that I have never had in my life. Now, when I was about 8, I had Impetigo which was treated with homeopathics (don't know which ones) and daily, awful applications of steaming hot washcloths to soften the scabs and prevent them from moving up into my nose and brain. To be honest with you, I had completely forgotten about this Impetigo episode and I do not know if this rash above my lip is connected to it. However, the fact that I am now recalling that illness that happened more than 36 years ago might mean that I am making a connection. Again, this rash occurred prior to starting the Belladonna and when I was on NO other homeopathics. So, now I've been on the Pearl for 6 days, and it looks as if the rash is finally calming down in its degree of redness and nowhere near as dry and hot as it felt last week at this time. I cannot say definitively if the Pearl Powder did this or if the Belladonna had something to do with it. I am taking my weekly dose of Belladonna today based upon Joe's discussion of Dr. Luc's method, so we'll see what that does.

All in all, my emotional reactions to events in my life continue to be subdued. Hard to say if someone who already had subdued emotions could benefit from Pearl Powder or if the Pearl would create more innate balance in their emotional body to create more energy? Don't know the answer to that one until someone who fits that profile gives Pearl Powder dilution a try.

Still looking forward to anyone out there who wants to jump on the Pearl Powder bandwagon and report their findings.

laddy111 last decade
Actually if you are seeing old events in the dreams and getting back old memories this is a good sign because those issues are coming back and you are resolving those issues. If an issue of the mind is taken care it won't bother you again.

kuldeep last decade
Kuldeep,

Can't say if the dreams are bringing back old memories or not. What IS strange and somewhat obscure is that over the last three days, out of the blue, some very personal and private info from my past that I would rather have kept personal and private has been revealed to someone I know. This person is not using the info in way to harm or judge me. However, I am surprised beyond belief at my response to learning of this breach of confidence. Yes, I was shocked and stunned that my personal info got out but I was NOT the usual: anger, ire and explosion. I do think that I have to thank Belladonna for this and perhaps a bit of Pearl to complete the picture.

UPDATE: DAY SEVEN

Everything status quo. The further dilution of Pearl feels different...more deeper in its action but I still cannot give a concise experience yet to demonstrate that.

Sleep is deep, especially in the morning with detailed, vivid dreams in color that involve people I've never met but who seem to know me very well. Intriguing.

laddy111 last decade
Forgot to mention that I added about a teaspoon of blackberry brandy to the Pearl Powder yesterday when I topped off the jar again with more water. Second dilution.
