The alerts are working again as I got one about an hour ago.
The ABC has not been this fast ever before.

There have been more changes since. Hopefully everybody will be getting them now.

I would certainly like to have the background details of the upgrade you did as although I am not very computer literate from a software angle my 2 sons are, and they too have been advising me on the problems that I was facing with the ABC in common with so many thousands who visit your site daily.
I do appreciate that your upgrade was a monumental task and it must give you some satisfaction on a job well done especially since it was all a DIY job.
You may like to know that I was the first in Sri Lanka to own an IBM PC which I had flown across within a few months of its release in March 1983 in the US. The local IBM agents were only marketing the main frame IBM's and were very interested in my machine which was the first they saw here.
I have maintained my interest in computers since 1983 and use a Macbook Pro today with Snow Leopard which I consider the ultimate computer today.

We have upgraded the server
The problem with the email was that as well as the 'from' and 'reply to', there's a 'return path' which which was set to a default, invalid address. This is one of many changes in the new version of the server software (on the last server the default address was valid). The entire email was therefore declared invalid by some email providers.
