The ABC Homeopathy Forum

proof for a skeptic?

my education in science leads me to deny homeopathy's effectiveness, though my friend (also clever and science-minded) swears by it.

though i'm not looking for any help with a specific medical issue, i want to try homeopathy and essentially, prove him (or myself) wrong.

can someone suggest a remedy that i might try that would have a sure-fire effect i could clearly see? something that proves this works?

i have no desire to harm myself, but if i'm right - it's not going to have any effect at all!

any suggestions are welcome.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
The best proof of course would be to go through the process of being cured by a homoeoapth :)

There is no remedy you can just be given to feel better - a curative medicine must be chosen specifically for the individual. Our whole medical philosophy is based around this idea. For this to be done, a complete case would have to be taken. Even is this is done on a forum like this, without a face-to-face interview the chances of getting good results are greatly diminished.

Failing that, the only real proof would be to undergo what we call a proving - that is taking one of our medicines to create artifical symptoms. This would prove that the medicine, although diluted to a point where no molecules of the substance remains, is still capable of provoking a reaction in the body. This is the main problem that orthodox science has with our diltued medicines.

If you are right, then doing so will do nothing to you.

My suggestion would be to procure Sulphur 30c, and take it every day until something happens. If we are right, you will begin to develop new symptoms related to the medicine.

yes, i just want to see something happen - this would be proof enough that it's not just 'wishful thinking'.

and i will resist the urge to look up what this does so as to not influence the results.

sulphur 30c, once a day daily until i think something's up?

if i wanted to scope out the 'expected' results afterwards, is there an online resource that would define what this is supposed to do so i could compare my experience?

thing is, i'm not suffering from anything myself (yet), so i'm not seeking help... i just want to feel a homeopathic effect and judge it for myself.

if i can produce any noticable effect from a suggested remedy, my world will change and i'll take a new stance on homeopathy.

brisbane, i read somewere that sulphur could cause a rash if over-dosed, but it was a higher dosage then you've suggested...

i would love to see this magic rash, can you forsee a major problem if i want as far as a few pellets a few times a day?

Specifically which symptoms you get cannot be predicted. You might get the rash, or the foul body odours, or the yellow-staining sweats, or any of the thousands of symptoms associated with the remedy.

The major problem would be developing many of the more serious symptoms - those that affect the organs, and it is possible the symptoms might remain with you for months or even years. This might require actual homoeopathic treatment to fix.

It is your health so your risk, but no homoeopathic medicine is toxic, so as long as you stop once the symptoms show themselves you should not get into too much trouble.

ok. i'm gonna go with one pellet, three times a day for a few days.

will report back.

oh... is there an 'emergency brake' beyond stopping taking it? like a remedy to the remedy if for some reason, i go blind or something...

Blindness is unlikely - I have never seen that as a 'side-effect' in 20 years of practice. There are antidotes for any remedy reaction, although it depends on the specific reaction.

Most important thing is not to continue too long once the reaction starts.
