Otoscelrosis and Homeopathy (Middle ear)

By the grace of God, homeopathy may rescue me form this unfortunate handicap.
I am 33 years old.
In 2001, I was diagnosed with otoscelrosis in both ears and stapedectomy recommended. My symptoms were fullness in ear as though something was stuck and not being able to hear conversation at work.
My right ear was the weaker one and I opted for the surgery. Unfortunately, when the Surgeon saw through the incision, he found an exposed facial nerve at the point where the stapes were to be melted or cut to be removed, so he backed out.
I started wearing a hearing aid.
After a year of wearing the hearing aid, I decided to get the left ear operated as I assumed that one good ear would be enough to eliminate my requiring a hearing aid.
I got operated on the left ear and the operation was supposedly successful. My hearing might have improved by 10% Not enough to eliminate the hearing aid.
I am very tempted to approach a surgeon who is willing to operate on the right ear and claims he can work around the exposed facial nerve. As you might suspect, I am nervous before I go under the knife again.
I am a believer of Homeopathy and as a desperate resort to not going under the knife again and taking the risk, am hoping that this treatment will do it for me.
I have good days and bad days with my left ear (the operated one)/ I am unable to place a finger yet though on what causes the good days, however am inclined to believe that Eustachian tube behavior has a big impact.
My right ear for all practical purposes is deaf. the otosceloris has progressed so far that even listening to the phone on it's highest volume on this ear leads to difficulty in hearing. It is this ear I'm expecting to cure with this treatment as the left ear is already having a piston installed, although I believe that if somehow the calcium deposits there could be lessened with a treatment, my hearing would improve to the level of eliminating a hearing aid.
I currently take flourical one tab a day as that's been recommended by the Doc in controlling / delaying the progress of this condition.
I DON'T WANT MY KID TO GROW UP SEEING HIS DAD WEARING A HEARING AID. (IT'S EMBARASSING!!)
PS: From a hereditary stand point, my mother had a bad right ear however she had a good left ear and did not need a hearing aid.
I have an uncle (Paternal) who has bad hearing and recently, my dad, 72, has had to resort to a hearing aid as well.
Any inputs from you would be greatly appreciated.
Regards,

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
NOT HOMEOPATHY-- I have often used [both on patients and myself!] a small plug of cotton wool -or tissue- soaked in glycerine , Put in the ear on going to sleep . Two or three nights like this often works wonders.

Dr R Cooper , used often to give two homeopathic remedies of the calcium type in cases of this sort .

Either
Calc Phos 2x or 3x twicw a day for 10 days and wait a week to judge results.

Calc carb 150c one dose on 3 sucessive days and await result.

Stupid reasoning. Who cares if there is a hearing aid...if they do, they don't need to be in your circle of friends.

What if you were missing ears, very noticable in men?! what if your nose rotted off...? Now these things could take a bit getting used to. What if a child of yours had hearing aids? would you be embarrassed!!??

My grandmother was embarrassed with her hard of hearing. My brother is very hard of hearing. His grandson was born deaf. No one is embarrassed. Everyone is busy learning sign language.

I am hard of hearing in an odd way in that it is difficult on the telephone and with accents. Certain voices, etc. I wear two hearing aids. They are practically not seen. I put them in in public, loud whistle and all. People know I am not embarrassed and ask about them. I show them and tell why I have them. So I can hear my hypnotherapy clients. They tend to whisper.

Your dependance on surgery will not give you want you want. The doctors are practicing on you. Excellent doctor that backed away from your face nerve. He needs a medal.

Now you are going to let another cut on you and TAKE A FOREVER CHANCE that he will knick the nerve and one side of your face will DROOP the rest of your life. Only smile out of one side of your mouth?

You will have signed papers absolving the dr from any liability and you may be stuck with a dead side of your face....HOW THE HECK DO YOU THINK THIS WILL LOOK TO OTHERS...and you worry about a louzy hearing aid???? Your children do not give a flip as long as you are a loving father.

Change your priorities....

Their friends (?) will make fun of your face and they will be angry and feel like fighting over it.

Blessings, Sabra

Dear Sabra,
Your comments are in order and well received. Thank you for taking the time to respond. I understand exactly what you are trying to convey and agree with the same as well.
Nevertheless, I still would like to try not to depend on a hearing aid at least for a few years. I am a 33 year old man and my hearing loss is not too significant. Ultimately, it is destiny as I don't think I've done anything to damage my ears.

Sabra, on a similar posting you had mentioned the following treatment:

JUNCUS EFFUSUS 30C. (a plant) It must be this high potency. Take one dose, 3 pellets, every three days for 8 doses. 24 days total. If you take the dose at 10am one day and 5pm another day, this is OK.

Do you think this would help me as well? Do be honest with you, I have already placed the order for this. That's OK, if you advice against this in my case then I'd not use these pills.
Can you please advice and thanks once again for your wise words.
Best Regards

Hi, looked at JUNCUS EFFUSUS 30C and do not see anything that would suit you in the symptoms, BUT, I am a firm believer in listening to one's own instincts.

You realize this was a remedy for someone else? What made you think of this for yourself?

The remedy will not hurt you. As you seem to have made up your mind, let us know.

If you could let go of the children "seeing" a hearing aid, you would feel better. They will be embarrassed BECAUSE you are.

If you have read other postings I have written, you must know I am surrounded by men and am inpatient with useless worries over things that really do not matter.

HEARING matters and one searches for answers. Have you looked into the Cochlear surgery? Would it fit your needs?

I still suggest learning sign language. It can become fun in the family, like a secret code. Children like this and many things become easier in communication.

Also children learn at an early age compassion and feeling good about others instead of having no clue to others' needs as most children are raised without this opportunity. This would benefit the children in the long run.

Remember to smile a lot and laugh with your children and touch/love them...this is what they will remember.

Blessings, Sabra

I just realized, you are barely older than my grandchildren. Forgive a grandma's sharp words?

I think you would know if the remedy is working by the third dose.

you know I can feel this this 33 yr old male's pain (now 35)...I'm a 32 yr old male and just had a 'stapedectomy' performed and currently I am still very concerned about a few conditions I am expierencing. My doctor, who is part of the Kaiser foundation/HMO, is a very nice guy -- but I feel he doesn't give his patient's the attention to detail we deserve. If I can make a suggestion, it is that if you get a doctor to perform this, get one that will be available to talk to you and answer your questions..One that will make you feel that -- you weren't simply 'good practice', for the doctor..But instead, look for a doctor who you feel has invested time in you and really wants to make you better...The worse part so far is not being able to communicate with my doctor on a regular frequency -- and he doesn't call for a follow up, nothing...I know it might be because he has multiple patients, but that's the flaw in HMO and if I can do it all over again, this is something I'd really consider -- Post Care is as important as Pre Care. Thank you for listening.
