Mild cognitive delay

My son is 15 years of age. He is born and grown up in Australia. He has IQ score of 70 to 80 on Webber scale. I read couple of your articles in the forum regarding mentally retarded children.

My son has normal birth and had seizures during 2 years and 4 years. He had 5 times and each episode lasting about 30 seconds. His development was slow and achieved milestones slowly. He speaks a little bit but doesn't articulate. He goes to special school. His main issues are behavioral problem and attention seeking. He doesn't have any acadamic skills. He has good memory in recognising people, places and objects. For day to day activities, he needs confirmation. Most of the time he makes the eye contact while talking and recently he started talking when noone around him. He can follow 2 or 3 complex instructions. He is quite disciplined, systematic and doesn't like any disturbance in the routine. I could not get him to survive a day in the centre based respite.



We did few MRIs and could not find any proper diagnosis. Some neurologists suggested that he has mild myelin sheath disruption and other specialist said it could be static encephalopathy (at the time of zycote formation there might be issue). Recently, I consulted another neurologist and he expressed it could be virus that might have caused irreversable damage. He was never prescribed any medication such as seratin or other drugs.



He has his vaccinations as per the schedule in Australia at regular intervals. He never showed any different symptoms than normal. One of neurologist friend suggested to use Nootropil to improve the cell connectivity. I used it for a while and there was no improvement. Some suggested to use Biloba or Brahmi tablets and that was also of not much use. I tried lecithin and fish oil capsules with not much benefit.



He doesn't eat much processed food that contains preservatives or colourings. Ocassionally he may eat ice cream. Whenever he eats sweets his behavior is not controllable. His physical growth is normal and tend to put on weight. He is of 169cm tall and 81kg of weight. He eats Oat meal for breakfast, lunch sandwich/rice and dinner veggies & meat/fish.



I got a little hope after seeing few of your articles. He has thick black hair, normal face with slightly big ears and long eyelashes. He always sleeps normal and no face into the pillow/bum upward. He doesn't have any mole in the eye. But, he suffers rarely with Pterrygium (in one eye if there is too much ultraviolet rays). He used have problem with sunblock lotion that has some benzene mixture. After few rigorous tests, sunblock lotion was stopped and used only olive oil on his skin when he goes out into SUN.



He does few physical tasks very well. He can fold the clothes and put in the respective family member's cup boards. He can cut vegetables same size and peel the potatoes well. He can do lawn mowing well as if professional did. I suspect his main problem is that when a nuron fires in the brain it doesn't carry the signal to the respective part or cell correctly. Either Axon or neuron transmitting mechanism has an issue.



I wonder whether he can use Medorrhinum 10M and Baryta Carb 10M. I almost gave up hope till I saw your articles. We donot have mentally retarded children in our family for the last 4 or 5 generations. I would think he might be deprived of oxygen for a little time when he had febrile convulsions or a virus may have done damage in the brain. I begged the neurologist to look at doing GABBA gene mutation but he was not keen.



Unfortunately, Allopathy doesn't have any way to send medication to break the blood barrier to brain to treat the symptom in the brain and it is a bit of handicap.
