Natrium Muriaticum Mamma

Hello everyone,

My mother is definitely a Natrium Muriaticum type. What really pointed me to this remedy was the fact that she has a desire for beer. She likes the bitterness of the beer. She is also very introverted and learned to hide/suppress her feelings, she has a good heart, sometimes, lol, and I think and hope that with a little help from this remedy she will open herself up more and will leave the bitterness that her journey through this life has left her with to make room for life's sweeter tastes.

She had worked as a doctor in the past, so homeopathy to her is... well need I say more? I'm happy although to see more doctors out there embrace homeopathy. Last night, however, she had decided to give it a go and so she took a dose of Nat M in 30c yesterday. She reported no changes so far, but I beg to differ from the conversation we had earlier today. A little more light she is, on her feet and in her voice.

Now, my question for more experienced homeopaths is this: Is there a specific amount of doses she should take, or potency she should take, or should I start with the lowest, and fewest doses, then work my way up from there? Lol, I think I just answered my own question. However, I'm thinking that for psychological changes to occur, higher potencies may be more appropriate. What say you, dear friends?!

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Potency is selected for a variety of reasons.

1. Where does the disease mainly express itself? (10M = general sensation, 1M = mental/imagination, 200 = emotional, 30 = physical, 12 = specific parts of the body, 6 = pathology)

2. How much of the case is peculiar to Nat-mur, displays symptoms which are characteristic to or only seen in Nat-mur? (10M = many single symptoms, 1M = many symptoms in which Nat-mur is one of a small group, 200c = many symptoms in which Nat-mur is a characteristic (well known), 30c = symptoms are not peculiar to Nat-mur, 12 = many general symptoms that are common to many remedies, 6 = broad symptoms commmon to many diseases)

3. How intense are the symptoms - higher potency is used for more intensity. Intensity is also related to the strength to the vital energy, which must not be overwhelmed by too high a potency.

4. How much medical suppression has there been in the case - the more suppression the lower you should start with potency, and work your way up slowly.

5. How much pathology is present in the case. Again the more tissue changes the lower the potency should be to begin with.

These are only general rules and each patient needs to be examined to see which of these conditions is most relevent.

This isn't much of a case - what else lead you to Nat-mur? Desires Beer has 115 remedies in it. Introverted as 123 remedies. Bitterness is a characteristic of the Ammonium group rather than the Natrum group, who talks about Hurt rather than being Bitter. Disappointment is perhaps where you might see a feeling like bitterness, which is common to both Ammonium and Natrum.

Even just looking at those 3 characteristics, there are 25 remedies indicated, with Nat-mur being one. What else points to this remedy in your opinion?

Hey hey Brisbane!

Ok, so the desire for beer was one that led me to think Nat-M. And the desire for the bitterness taste in the beer. Some other things are along the lines of very introverted, closed off in public situations (body language shows this), retreats when feeling hurt emotionally, closes herself off, does not express emotions wholly, doesn't verbalize her feelings, mostly keeps them inside. She's very afraid of storms...doesn't drive in storms, stays in the house... I also haven't seen her cry in a long time...

Could you think of some questions Brisbane that would help me narrow down my options of remedies? Maybe Nat-m may not be the one, but from what I understand Nat-m is a very common type these days, so this could be the one, especially since my mother grew up in a 'upper class', communist society.

Nat-mur is no more common than the other several thousand remedies we have. It is just more often used, and more often fails. Most of my patients when they have seen other homoeopaths have been given Nat-mur, and it didn't work. It is just one of the famous remedies everyone thinks they know well.

There are no specific questions to ask. Prescriptions rely on what the patient says, how they express their issues, what problems they tell you they have, what spontaneously is offered in coversation.

Social background needs to be eliminated when making remedy choices. If her behaviour can be explained by her upbringing, then the is a counterindication for a remedy that has that same behaviour or issue.

You are looking for peculiar things, unexplained things, things that make no sense.
