Excess coughing caused by reflux

I've been experiencing a cought for about 6 months. Went to my MD, she prescribed allergy meds with no success. I get a hacking cough in meetings, out of nowhere, at night. Finally went to a spcialist, he prescribed Prilosec for 30 days. First 2 weeks, I thought I was cured and now it's back to day 1. He told me to stay on it and monitor what I do. I've been monitoring, nothing helps, the prilosec doesn't seem to be working and i cough all night. Any suggestion. I was born 2 months premature and I've been on paxil for maybe a year or less. Help.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Did you have similar cough last year too?
Do you feel it is worse in any particular season?
Is it worse during day or night/ does the cough disturb your sleep and if so at any particualr time?
Do you feel any breathlessness/wheeze following the cough?
Is it a dry cough or is it productive?
Any throat irritation, difficulty in swallowing?
Does it get worse on intake of cold things, exposure to cold, eating any particular foods etc.?
Is it worse on talking, lying down, after eating etc.?

Have you undergone any investigations and if so what are the reports of Complete blood picture, Erythrocyte sedimentation rate, Absolute Eosinophil count, X Ray Chest etc.?

What is the opinion of the Physician who has examined you?

With the above details the probability of Homeopathic Medicine helping and the medicines can be suggested.

I didn't have the cough last year. The season doesn't seem to matter. This is the first time I've experienced it. The cough definetely disturbs my sleep. I elevate pillows to try and make it better. No wheeziness. It is somewhat productive but hurts to cough - not major but sorta. When i do have the cough spasm, the difficulty in swalling seems to be because of the phelgm so I clear my throat and swallow alot. I can't seem to correlate it to any particular food or time after eating. No blood test or chest xray yet. The MD thought it was allergy. The specialist thinks its acid reflux. Thank you for responding. I've been on prilosec like I said and it worked initially and i also read about apple cider vinegar and have tried that since yesterday - i have noticed any significant change yet.

Do you have any heartburn?
Any sour belching of food eaten?
Any pain pit of stomach?
Do you tend to sleep within an hour of a major meal?

Have you undergone an endoscopy and if so what is the result.

I am sure HOmeopathic Medicine would be of help to you.

I have none of the symptoms you described. The specialist told me that I don't have to have those symptoms to have reflux but that is what is causing the cough - that some people just don't get the symptoms. I have not undergone an endoscopy. Thanks.

Well of course I'm willing to take homeopathic medicine. I don't want to have to rely on prescribed or over the counter drugs. What do you suggest.

Hepar sulph 200c four times a day for five days along with JUSTICIA 1X, twenty drops in a cup of water should be of help to you to start with. With the progress we can plan the follow up.
