Battery acid detox for small child--help!

I am so distraught! My 20-month old daughter stuck something up her nose yesterday morning (we didn't know what). We immediately called the family dr. who referred us to an ear-nose-throat specialist. The ENT didn't seem too concerned, even though she was showing signs of discomfort and had a discharge from her nose. He scheduled an extraction for this morning. It was then that we learned that the object was a "button battery" and her nostril had been burned by battery acid (it was in there almost 24 hrs. total) What can I give her to detox from the chemicals that have undoubtedly entered her system? Please help! :(

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
I do not think that you have to worry if it was a button battery that your daughter stuck up her nose.

There is no acid in a sealed battery which was most likely discarded by you as it was discharged and was later discovered by your baby.

If it was a new battery, it may have caused some slight irritation in the nose as the 1.5V charge would have slowly discharged in the moist conditions in the nose but this cannot cause any permanent discomfort.

If your child is showing no ill-effects, let the body take care of it. I think Joe is right. If there is still discomfort from the burn, you could give her Causticum 30 - two doses a day for 2 or 3 days, and /or Kali Mur 12x, 3 times a day.

Arnica 30 a couple of doses for the trauma both physical and mental would also be useful.

Thanks for all of the replies :) You're right Joe--I learned after more research that the burns were actually caused by the battery discharging.

She seems to be doing a lot better, but I think I might give some Arnica for the trauma as was suggested. She woke up this morning crying and saying "no!"--like she was having a flashback or something.

Thanks again,
Melissa
