The ABC Homeopathy Forum

Email addresses no longer permitted

Hi all,

Unfortunately, due to abuse by a very small minority of people, email addresses are no longer allowed in Forum posts.

As the forum is as anonymous as you want it to be, most people will not have a problem with posting sensitive information straight to the forum. If you desperately want someone to email you, you can direct them to the email address in your profile.

Web site addresses are still allowed, but only where they help answer a question.

Thank You,
Simon

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.

Dear Simon Broadlay,

You cannot stop people from corresponding with each other.

I receive mails from people who got to know about me from ABC Forum but did not wish to place the details of their problems for all to see. (Because of the peculiar nature of their problems). Some also send me photographs displaying their ailments. Many send medical reports.
They wish to keep all of it away from the public glare.

They are entitled to that kind of privacy and I respect their need for privacy.

With this one act, you might be killing the popularity fo your site.

best..

Your point is not valid, mr Varma.
Identity of online patient is not known to any one , so no question of privacy...

Dear Pankaj Varma,

We've been getting a lot of posts lately (which I've removed) saying something like "I can cure you. (email address)".

As discussed elsewhere lately, the only quality control that we have is that members can contradict each other and dispel bad or dangerous advice. This can't happen by email.

I have no wish to stop people sending messages. Your email address is visible in your profile, and if people wish to email you to send pictures etc, they can do so through your profile.

Putting this extra step in will hopefully reduce the number of people using the boards to tout for business rather than help people.

Does anyone else have strong views on this?

HOMEOPATHIC DISCUSSION FORUM

If you concenterate on above three words then you will find answers of all your queries.

My common sense says:

Any person desires to "DISCUSS" openly, any "HOMEOPATHIC" affairs with any member, who is exclusively registered at this "FORUM" (not out side) can participate. This FORUM is for those who agreed to this complaince, if any member wants to DISCUSS privately or wants to take suggestion from a member privately then he or she should contact or find any other FORUM where this kind of privilage is provided. From moderator's post, I feel that this privialge is not available.

I think, we should take moderator's decission final because she knows better how to run the forum. we are not responsible of running this forum.

dear moderator,
i appreciate your work, but i dont see the reason on why we cant post the website for one person, like some body asked for dr kothari's address, when i posted the website, it wid not accept. can u gie me the proper reason behind it ..........

thank you for a great job ...

Hello Biswakam,

The reason is that when it was possible to post email and website addresses, the forum was full of posts like 'I can help you. email me at...' or 'buy viagra go to www...'. After a few legitimate posts, you can post URLs, but to help keep the discussion on the forum, you can only display your email address in your profile.

Simply filtering posts electronicly has dramaticaly reduced the spam we get.

You can still direct anyone to your profile, where you can enter both a website address and your email address.

I realise there are instances, like the one you cite, where it would be useful for all to be able to post URLs and email addresses, but these are relatively few.

Best Wishes
Simon
