The ABC Homeopathy Forum

Scary looking skin condition

5-6 weeks ago, my daughter developed a dry, shiny, itchy patch of skin on her finger. It also has small bumps and one red pit, which hurt for a while - not so much now.

However, about 4 weeks ago, she got a bite by something a little smaller than a mosquito that flew away - she didn't get a good look. A couple of hours afterwards, two tiny holes appeared. Later, it became dry around the area, small whitish bumps began appearing that eventually turn into red pits. A about a week after that, a red smooth patch appeared with a fringe of red or orange bumps and dry skin. It has continued to expand in size and has several red pits now. The area hurts as when you have a cut - it stings while washing or when it comes into contact with acidic things like vinegar. Water aggravates and makes it redder.

Generally the area around the bug bite is similar to the dry patch on her finger, however much worse, and worrisome looking. I don't want it to turn into some necrotizing disease.

I have treated her successfully in the past for both warts and eczema with Nat Mur.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Please give her calc carb 30 in the morning and evening for 3 days and see how that affects in next 15 days.

She took the remedy about 3 times over 2-3 days - she kept forgetting to take it consistently. However, it seemed to get a bit better in that it stopped spreading and it got dryer and less painful for a while. Now it's expanding and getting more painful again. I'm wondering if she should try again and I'll advise her to make sure to take it twice every day without missing, or is it perhaps not quite the right remedy?

Perhaps I should mention that I never did try Nat Mur for this ailment, in case I made sound as though I had.

Please advise.

Thanks so much for your help.

You should see whether Natrum Mur helps.

Unfortunately, Nat Mur didn't seem to help. It has continued to expand in size. Changes include:

- itchy at night - wakes her up variously between 1 am to 4 am
- itchy on waking
- it is cracking - large cracks now instead of small pits
- more painful probably because of the cracks
- has more dry, peeling skin that it used to
- she noticed some watery fluid, not sticky, just wet from her other finger, which has the less severe patch
- water hurts it, but it feels better after cold water, worse after hot
- likes a slight breeze
- had bright red knuckles on waking one morning !? -> was short lived

in general, she:
- dislikes meat, but poultry ok
- dislikes seafood, tomatoes
- craves sweets like pie, brownies, fruit and carbs like potatoes and pasta
- likes going outside when it's not too hot
- often get dizzy on standing and walking
- sometimes low appetite
- sometimes she feels very hungry, but quickly loses appetite on starting to eat
- sometimes feels ill or dizzy from standing too much -> better for water
- tends to have dry skin on legs and back

Also, as a general question, when you say see how a remedy affects in the next 15 days, if no change at all happens in the first week, should I always continue waiting the full 15 days before seeking another remedy?

Much thanks.

Please give her lycopodium 30 in the morning and evening for 3 days and see how that affects in next 15 days.

If that doesn't help give her sulphur 30 in the same way.

It is better to wait for 15 days than rushing ahead.

Lycopodium made a distinct improvement and for the last week I thought it was on the mend. There was no more flaking skin or red pitted spots. It just looked like a shiner dark area of normal skin. As of this morning, it has developed some red pits again. Since Lycopodium did help, should I try Sulphur or go to Lyc 200?

Thanks.

I tried Lyc 200C which didn't help. The condition has continued to spread to other fingers and to the palm of her hand. It has also spread to the fingers of her left hand as well, although the right hand is still the worst.

I tried Sulphur and now she's getting light, painless bumps spreading all over her hands. Her hands are much itchier at night and she is losing sleep from the itching, which is aggravated by the heat of the bed. She has to keep them out from under the covers.

A change in symptoms when she washes her hands:
cold water stings
warm water doesn't sting as much, but still hurts
room temperature water is best

I also should have mentioned that she tends to get headaches every day - always in the forehead and temples. It might come on from noise, heat, driving in a hot car, bright lights, concentrating on difficult mental work. Once she starts her daily headache, it lasts the rest of the day. It's gone once she falls asleep - even is she wakes in the night.

Every few days, she briefly hears a high-pitched ringing in her ears.

She has darkened toes that used to itch under the covers - the itching has subsided. The skins of her toes is darker, but at the same time, seem whitish on the surface as if dusted with chalk. They are a little dry, but not really flaking much.

She also tends to avoid challenges. If she is chided, jokingly, she is quick to laugh along because it's easier - self-deprecating, passive and non-confrontational. She can lose her temper quickly with her younger siblings and tends to be bossy in the absence of parents.

I'm thinking about antidoting the Sulphur because of this explosion of bumps. Please advise.

Thanks,
Robin

Please give her Thuja 30 in the morning and evening for 3 days and see how that affects in 15 days.

i think that you should first give her three doses of Pulsatilla 30 at a gap of 12 hours and see how that affects in 10 days. Thuja 30 may be given later if needed.

Thanks. Now that I think of it, she just finished taking Sulphur 3 days ago, so I have some time to wait before trying Pulsatilla.

So you would not recommend antidoting Sulphur?

Firstly, thanks for the suggestion of Pulsatilla. As of some time around June/July her hands had completely healed after Pulsatilla. It had been creeping back a little and repeated doses fixed it completely. Her hands are still perfect now, however, the condition has moved to her elbows and knees since mid-July. A dose of Pulsatilla 30C did not help this time.

-she still gets itchiest at night, sometimes waking from it from midnight to 3 am
-applying cream of various kinds aggravates it
-sometimes cracks and bleeds or leaks clear fluid with an odour similar to 'toilet water' as in a flushed toilet
-worse from scratching
-BETTER COVERING UP affected areas - this is the opposite of how it used to be
-tears and bleeds when extending joints
-surrounded by large whitish patches
-she still seems much like a Pulsatilla personality - weeps easily - sensitive to criticism, avoids confrontation

I'm wondering if another remedy is better suited.

Thanks
