Help for my Mom's continuous foot pain.

Hi,
My Mom is 91 years old and for the past 9 months her feet are progressively hurting worse. They are swollen, toenails have fungus which she has been taking a medicine for her physician which worked initially but stopped. She is unable to wear shoes that don't hurt because they all hurt in some way. She is on high blood pressure meds, doctor recently added a water pill for ankle swelling, actinol weekly for osteoporosis, synthroid because she has no functioning thyroid, nexium for stomach acid as needed and eye drops to keep eye pressure under control. Have tried some remedies such as rhus tox 30, calc carb 30, 200, 1M, brynonia 30, lycopodium 30, Hapar sulph 30, 200. Some work temporarily but wear off. Takes ibuprofen for pain relief that helps sometimes to dull the pain.
Would appreciate any suggestions.
I have also included a questionnaire with answers as best we know.
Best regards,
Sue K

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Since you have tried some remedies, you might even try SILICEA and then CAUSTICUM once each to see if it works.

Reading your post these two remedies seem to be worth looking at.

Thanks so much for the response!
I'll try silicea 30 for starters.

Sue K last decade
Give her SILICEA 30C once every 6 hours on a single day or at best 2 days.

Wait and watch if the foot pain or its nature changed for better or worse. Report after a week.

Test these two remedies in 30C and 200C potencies before discarding them.

She has been taking the Silicea 30 the past couple days as you suggested and it appears that the swelling has lessened. She said the pain is less and the dry, broken skin has scabbed and not oozing.. She still can't put any shoes on. Should she continue taking this potency and frequency?

Thanks so much!

Sue K last decade
Now that the curing process has started, she need not continue the remedy in the same frequency. She should now reduce the frequency to one dose a day for some days and then once in two days...based on the improvement.

Too much dosing won't help her. On the other hand it might reverse the curing process.

The frequency of dosing in general has to be in inverse relationship to the suffering.

Hi,
It appears that the Silicea 30 has stopped working.
Her primary care doctor says that the main issue is fungus that has spread. He prescribed an anti-fungal cream.
Are there any remedies that would address this? Would sulphur or belladonna maybe help?
Because the skin on the bottom of her feet is so dry & cracked, I spread calendula ointment which she said help relieve it.

Best regards,
Sue K

SILICEA covers nail fungus like no other remedy. So, you should now go to SILICEA 200C some 3 doses, each dose 12 hours apart.

You can apply calendula ointment on her heals but try to hold the anti-fungal cream at present. I want SILICEA to create a response in her by which she will develop enough antibodies to protect her skin from fungi infection without the help of creams.

If SILICEA 200C produced a response, give her a dose when you see her symptoms returning and then you know by experience the interval for repeating this remedy.

My mother was admitted to the hospital last night. She became very weak. The second toe of her left foot is black. The doctor says it looks like gangrene. They are also saying that both feet have cellulitis because of the redness and swelling. She can't walk on them because of the pain. They have her on an IV for fluids & infection. She is stronger but still has a pain in the instep of both feet that gradually increases and then peaks and then repeats every 4-5 minutes. Not sure what to expect next.

Thanks,
Sue K

She has blockages that show from the angiograms in the pelvic area that feeds blood to the legs. She's done good until today. She's weak & can't eat. Any suggestions to help her feel stronger ?

Thanks,

Please describe her sufferings as she feels and relates in her own words.

rishimba 9 years ago
She said that she feels weak & 'beat' from all the moving around they make her do in bed to sit up and then to get comfortable. Her foot wounds are healing except for the 2 black toes. Cellulitis around ankles are gone. She's worried & nervous about having the pending operation & them having to cut her. She doesn't want to eat but we talk her into taking at least 5 bites. Her face color looks good.
Thanks!!

Sue K 9 years ago
For the present, there's nothing to suggest as all her response and feelings are normal. Let her be in their care for now.

Regarding the black toe, if they don't heal, give her one or two doses of SILICEA 200C when she is fine and back at home. This will help stopping the infection at the toe-nail.

rishimba 9 years ago
She is on intravenous fluids in the hospital which includes antibiotics. Everything is stabilized until they do the bypass operation of the artery and remove the black toes. My concern is her weakness & her anxiety while waiting for the procedures to occur.

Thanks so much!

Sue K 9 years ago
Sue, I can understand your worries. You may know that her weakness is due to the antibiotics being administered to her at this age. If she is not getting enough nutrition, she will feel weak. Also, her anxiety is understandable as no one wants to go under the knife for sure.

This is not the right time to take homeopathic remedies to fight anxiety and weakness. Its not going to work out.

All I can do is to wish her good mental strength to face the bypass and the physical strength to pull it off.

rishimba 9 years ago
She declined to have the bypass operation. She is now in a rehab/nursing facility. The doctor here said she was on too many meds that the hospitals added. They are reducing them because it made her blood pressure too low. She's very weak & sleeps a lot. Would you think there is any chance for improvement with homeopathy?

Thanks so much!

Sue K 9 years ago
She is on medication presently and added to that, her vitality is low because of her age.

I feel homeopathy won't bring about any change right now...at least as long as she is on medication.

The medication won't allow the body to produce a homeopathic response.

Are there any remedies that can treat the hallucinating side effects that she is having from the pain meds?

Thanks,
Sue K

Sue K 9 years ago
If the hallucination is a result of pain killers, it cannot be helped by homeopathy. We don't know if this is a side effect felt by many or is it just your mother who's having hallucinations because of this medication.
