4 month old baby not pooping

MY four month old baby has not had a bowel movement in over 2 weeks. He is exclusively breastfed and I understand it can be normal for breastfed babies to have irregular bowel habits but this is seeming like a long time. He generally poops once every 5-7 days.

Other acute symptoms:
- occasional straining without effect
- smelly gas
- occasional reflux symptoms in the evening
- lots of drooling

Other general characteristics:

- happy contented baby
- sleeps well, waking 1-3 times a night to feed
- often has warm head and trunk and cool hands and feet
- large baby but not particularly chubby, more muscular
- some cradle cap
- has intermittent clear/white muscous in nose and throat
- lots of ear wax
- pees lots

He had a long period where he refused to nurse and was difficult to feed (only wanted to nurse while sleeping) but for the last 2 weeks he has fed without much dispute.

Please let me know what remedies to try and how to take them. I have tried calc carb 6c and silica 30c but I'm not sure if I'm dosing right. Thanks for your help!

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
You can try Nux vomica 30c.

Dissolve 3 pills in two tablespoons of water.

Give him a tsp of that 3 times with 4 hours gaps. If he has
a good movement after dose one or two then stop and
give another dose if he is not regular after a couple days.

If that does not work, take him to the Dr. as 2 weeks is
too long and he has to be checked. Three or four days
with no bowel movement is not ok. Baby could have some
hard stool stuck in the colon that has to be manually
removed by the Dr. at this point, so you have to
have him looked at.

Thanks for responding simone717. I have tried Nux vomica with no result.

I am in touch with the pediatrician to make sure there is not a serious underlying issue, they are not worried considering his overall clinical picture is quite healthy.
But their solution is to use high powered laxatives that I would like to avoid (especially if this needs to be addressed regularly).
I was hoping that perhaps a homeopath could give me some insight on how to address this constitutionally since he seems to be a baby that does not have regular bowel movements.

Thanks for responding.

Yes,

Having someone look at the chronic issue should be done.

However, at the state it is in now, I would use the laxative
and get things moving as this has gone on too long in
my opinion.

Also , it is much better with babies to have the homeopath
see the baby in person, bc all diagnostic methods can
be used to get the remedy right. An online forum is
not the best option here.

Are you able to see a homeopath where you are?

We only have a few actual homeopaths on here, who do this
professionally.

Hi,

Your baby is now 11 months old.

I suggest you do a new thread, put Fitness in your headline and ask him
for help. He has a form he will give you to fill out. He does a lot of
babies on here, and is very successful with finding the right remedy for them.

Regards,

Simone

Hi, you could try home remedies! I think is less chemical and good for babies. But for long term prevention, I will suggest you to switch to milk powder that contains high pre-biotic .

I am using Mamil for the past 2 year and IMO I think its really doing its job well in preventing constipation for children with its prebiotics ingredient and also its sugarless.. U can definitely see the difference in 7 days time in ur children constipation.. Also it has the highest DHA level in the market now..

Don let your child to rely on medication.. Not good for their health.. Try feeding prune juice or other fruit juice perhaps? It will solve your child constipation problem..
