parvo in dogs....

3 dogs have adopted me down here s. of Tucson....mother chow and two yearling boys..the one is a runt...the one is loosing weight even tho I am feeding them now; he went from pure diarrhea.which I began to treat with probiotics mostly, and saw results......they still run alot, so I cannot watch him constantly.but he is continuing to loose weight, and is now demonstrating way too much muscous lining from his gut....his respiration is slightly elevated, but there is no temp......heart rate could be better.....I fear for him.....I do not have money for a vet, plus most vets will NOT TAKE A CASE OF PARVO........last night his food went through him in 5 mintues or less......I felt so bad for him.....he quietly lingered all hunced over, and of course went out and ate it all today.........am now giving him megadose vitC, as I know a former vet tech who told me that rather tan antibiotics, they would do IV pushes of Vit. C......I am also giving him the flower essence Crab Apple..some echinachea to boost his immune system..I need some good input on an anti viral......please ....anyone have direct experience???? thanks much.....he'll die if he doesn't get help.....

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
I don't have direct experience with Parvo cases but I understand the seriousness of this problem.

Maybe you can get this combination to enhance the resistance of your dog: Pyrogenium 6c, Echinacea Ang 2x and Baptisia 6c.

I use this for myself for any kind of infection and also for my dogs that have some sort of infection. On top of this, I will include other remedies (depending on the case).

I remember coming across this Parvo disease in one website but can't remember which one. It says parvo virus infection: Enteric form: remedies to consider Aconite, Nux vomica, Ars Alb, Merc Sol.

You may want to read up these remedies further to see if one matches your dog's picture.

Hope you have earlier isolated this dog from the rest cos it's contagious.

It's so sad that your dog should be infected with this dreadful problem. Hope either Namaste or Astra will come in and help....

Water fast for 5 days on Pedialyte. Give Parvo 1M nosode. Give a supersaturated solution of Colloidal Silver. After 5 days feed raw turkey or chicken necks, yogurt and honey and meat broth. Feed small quantites.

The above is from a Bullmastiff breeder who used this when she had an outbreak of parvo with her herd.

Homeopathy for parvo-

-Aconite 30C-In the early stages, dose hourly up to four doses.

-Arsenicum Album 30C-Vomiting and diarrhea, restlessness, does not want to be left alone, weakness and exhaustion.

-Arsenicum Album 1M-Blood in stools, vomiting blood and has the typical nature of Arsenicum behavior mentioned in the previous paragraph.

-China-Key remedy.use with other remedies to prevent dehydration.

-Echinacea-Immune builder

-Ipecac 30C-Actute vomtiting.

-Merc. Corr-Vomiting, diarrhea, restlessness/

-Nux Vomica 1M-Appetite loss, coughing with vomiting, constipation, watery discharge from nose, withdrawn and shivering, Wants to be alone, cold and grouchy. Does not want company. Vomits at site of food and after drinking, growls at other animals.

-Phosphorus 30C-Gastric symptoms and vomiting.

-Veratrum Album-Hemorrhaging.

Vitamin C in the form of Sodium Ascorbate or Calcium Ascorbate. 1 teaspoon of powder for small dogs and 3 teaspoons of powder for medium sized dogs mixed in broth or goats milk or warm water. Syringe into mouth every 2 hours, and increase the dosage every day.

If they live through Parvo they will become immune to it. Raw diets are key for preventing Parvo outbreaks and helping with recovery.

My Shepperd survived Parvo and it took him weeks to get his strength back.

Revival animal health carries a cleaning agent that is used to wipe out any residue left from Parvo. All floors in house need to be cleaned with it as do kennels. All feces/vomit/bodily fluids must be contained in bags and treated like biohazard.

For now you can spray infected areas with bleach/water solution. Parvo needs a good frost to be killed if animal is outdoors. All bedding must be tossed or washed as well.

This is from the book EveryDay Homeopathy for Animals.

Homeopathic nosodes of this disease are available and should be used for prevention. (consider treating any further puppies you house with this nosode for prevention)

Phosphorus 30C-Very effective for vomiting, especially if the vomit contains blood. Dose hourly, 4-6 doses, and then 4 x daily until condition is resolved.

Arsenicum Album 30C-Acute vomiting and diarrhea, this remedy can be life-saving. Dose the same as Phosphorus.

Mercurius Corrosivus 30C-Blood in feces often with much straining and discomfort. Dose 4 x daily until condition is resolved.

From the book Homeopathic Medicine for Dogs

-When the acute stage is over China 6X is given, a remedy unsurpassed in restoring strength after fluid loss.

They also suggest in equal parts mixing Echinacea 1X/Ipecac 6X/Veratrum Album 6X. This is used to treat bloody diarrhea and vomiting. 10-20 drops are placed on the tongue or oral mucosa at 15-30 minute intervals, increasing the interval between the doses as the condition improves.

Good luck!

I know what I'm about to say it's not related to homeopathy medicine, but if it helps save a dog life, it's worth it.

As you might know Parvo is a deadly virus that attacks puppies and very rarely adult dogs.

I have a 5 yr. old shih tzu that got the virus. After taking her to 2 different vets they didn't even diagnosed her with parvo because of her age. The signs are vomit and bloody diarrhea.

After seeing a 3rd vet because of the symptoms and the smell of her feces he did a parvo test and she was positive.

Parvo is very costly to treat as you need IV, antibiotics and constant care. I had already spent $700 and she was getting worse. Finally another vet recommended a medicine called TAMIFLU. This is human’s medicine that works miracles in dogs with parvo.

The only bad thing is that it’s so new that most vets don’t know about it, so you really have to find a vet that can prescribe this for your dog.

To read more about this medicine type “parvo tamiflu” in google and read the vettechs blog. This can save your dog's life
