The ABC Homeopathy Forum

New case for Kadwa or Rishimba

The following is for my wife. Thank you in advance for taking the time to read through this - your advice is greatly appreciated!

----------------------------
Sex: Female
Age: 46

1. Describe your main suffering?
Digestive issues including gastritis, candida, trouble digesting fats and acids, extreme chocolate cravings all the time, bloating.
Fatigue, chronic fatigue. I lack energy to get me through my day. (Epstein Barr Virus, Herpes 2)
Discomfort in my kidney area sometimes. And sometimes I get edema and hold on to water all over my whole body. Then it goes away.

2. What other physical sufferings do you have in your body?
Since being on antibiotics my vision is hazy and sometimes blurry.
Lack of motivation or enthusiasm to do things.
Weight gain (20 pounds) in last two years - antibiotics? Hormones?
No sex drive.
Mid to upper back pain - in the last few weeks my ribs keep popping out and I need to see the chiropractor to put them back.

3. What mental sufferings / feelings do you have associated with your physical sufferings? Fears of illness, fears of my husband and cat getting sick. Lack of trust in doctors - feeling that doctors are incompetent. Isolation. I prefer the company of animals, however I crave human closeness sometimes. The world/people seem too "hard" or "mean" for me sometimes. I get very irritated with people's incompetence.

4. What exactly do you feel when you are at your worst? Irritable and weepy at the same time. Sometimes I take it out on my husband and really scream at him, until I start to cry. I will say mean things, but once I start to cry, then I want him to hold me.

5. When did it all start? Can you connect it to any past event or disease? I had an abusive childhood. I had many vaccines 15 years ago and a dental surgery for which I took antibiotics. Recently I was on antibiotics for two years treating Lyme Disease. 10 years ago my mother disowned me.

6. Which time of the day you are worst? I am more tired in the late afternoon.

7. What are the things which aggravate your suffering and which are those which ameliorate the same? Warmth seems to help - hot baths or hot water bottles often decrease my abdominal pain and my back pain. Sometimes if I am emotionally upset, cleaning something will help.

I do not like tight clothing - it aggravates. I don't even wear a bra anymore, but a tank top. Anything tight bothers me. I wear very light colored clothing and I wear very flowy clothing. I have an aversion to bold colors like red or orange.

8. Do you think your sufferings have relation to any external stimuli (like, change of place) or any internal biological changes in the body, like, menses (in females)? I get over stimulated easily by my environment and I need periods of alone time. Smells, noises, busy-ness can all bother me.

9. When do you feel better, during hot weather or cold weather, humid or dry weather? I feel better in moderate climates, not too hot, not too cold. I feel worse in humid weather - I get very, very weak. In the winter I get cold, and I love the spring when the sun feels like it warms my body up and my body feels like it thaws out.

10. Describe your general mental set up? Are you Moody, Arrogant, Mild, Agreeable, Changeable, Nervous, Suspicious, Easily offended, Quiet, Arguing, Irritating, Lazy etc. I am quiet, moody, changeable, impatient and easily irritated. I am very tidy and clean and have a strong eye for asthetics/beauty. In other words, I like things "just right." I find it hard to be around people who are incompetent, selfish, or irresponsible - I get irritated or angry. I have trouble letting anyone except my husband know I am irritable or angry - I usually just withdraw from the person.

- How do you feel before or during a thunderstorm? I don't know. I like thunderstorms though.

- Do you like being consoled during your tough times? I do not like platitudes or false sympathy. I want someone to help me to find an answer or a solution. After I get mad and angry, I will usually cry, then I like my husband to hold me. Sometimes I need to clean the house in order to get to the point of crying. I usually feel better if I can cry.

- Are you sensitive to external stimuli like smell, noise, light etc? Yes! I am highly sensitive to lights, smells (tobacco, perfume, chemicals especially), and noise.

- Do you have any typical habit or gesture like nail biting, causeless weeping, talking to one self etc? I am addicted to chocolate in an unhealthy way. I twirl my hair in my fingers. My fingers are always moving. When we snuggle up, my husband often holds my hand so I won't annoy him with my fingers moving around. I eat too fast and I am impatient.

- How do you feel about your friends, family, your children and especially your husband / wife? I don't have many friends. I like spending time with my husband, but need lots of alone time too. I do not have children, and that was by conscious choice. My mother has disowned me. Her reason was something about me not having children (although I suspect some mental issues for her). She has also disowned her parents and her sisters, but she is close to my brothers). My dad and brothers went along with her, so I really don't have much of a family. I can be social with clients and acquaintance and in fact I do enjoy it in small doses. Then I got home and enjoy my solitude.

11. What are your fears and do you dream of any situation repeatedly? Fears of my health situation, and the health situation of my husband and cat. I fear never being well again.

12. What do you crave for in food items and what are your aversions? I crave chocolate all the time and eat way too much of it. I like soup and flavorful food. I love cheese. I have an aversion to tomatoes and onions and I don't like the texture of cottage cheese. I like creamy things (chocolate and yogurt). I am gluten and dairy and sugar free - because of my gut issues, not because I don't like breads and dairy.

13. How is your thirst: Less, Normal or Excessive? I tend to be thirsty and my mouth often feels dry, even when it is not.

14. How is your hunger: Less, Normal or Excessive? Normal.

15. Is there any kind of food which your body can't stand? Tomatoes and now onions.

16. Is your sweat normal or less or more? Where does it sweat more: Head, Trunk or Limbs? Normal.

17. How is your bowel movement and stool type? I tend toward constipation, but right now it is normal and 1-2 x per day.

18. How well do you sleep? Okay. I wake once or twice a night, but I go back to sleep. Do you have a particular posture of sleeping? On my side. Sometimes on my back. I used to have terrible insomnia for years, but it has gotten better with homeopathy. Sometimes I have trouble falling asleep.

19. Do you think you are able to satisfy your sexual desires in general? No. I have zero right now.

20. How do you think you are different from others, if at all? I am extremely sensitive - more sensitive than anyone I know. I feel what others are feeling. I know if they are angry or happy or whatever. I am sensitive to noise, lights, people, supplements and medicines, perfume, tobacco, chemicals. My nervous system seems very finely tuned.

21. What medications have been taken earlier by you to treat the diseases and do you have any particular symptom surfacing after the medication? Lots of antibiotics for Lyme and dental surgery. I got sick 15 years ago after vaccines. I have been prescribed Sepia and Carsinosen and Chocolatum by different homeopaths as my constitutional remedy in the past…and I have self prescribed various remedies also. Doctors tend to overdose me. For example, my last homeopathic doctor had me taking Carsinosen LM1 every day. I got horrible symptoms…then he prescribed over eight remedies to try to get rid of the symptoms. I just kept reacting and reacting to each of the remedies. I don't think I should take high potencies every day.

22. What major diseases are running in your family? Breast cncer, colon cncer, diabetes, arthritis, stroke, gout, depression, anxiety, auto-immune, mental issues (depression, anxiety, social phobia, and maybe more).

23. Describe, how you look? Describe your overall appearance. 46 years old, tall (5 foot 10 inches), average weight (155), wide hips, small waist, small breasts, dark blond/light brown hair (long). My features tend to be "long."

24. (ONLY FOR FEMALES)
Please answer the following questions:
(Please give details of your past menstruation if you have attained menopause.)
- Are the periods early, regular or late in general? How long do they last? Regular. On time. They last about three days and are on the light side.
- Do you suffer from any kind of physical or mental discomfort before, during or after the periods? Water retention in abdomen and hips, some breast swelling and tenderness. A little more "sensitive" than usual.
- Is the flow scanty, normal or excessive? Scanty to normal.
- Is the blood thick bright red or pale watery? Bright red for the first two days, and then more watery for the last part of my period.
- Do you notice any clots in the flow? No.
I do have a small amount of vaginal discharge throughout the month. A watery, milky color.

Describe your moods and physical sufferings before, during and after your menstrual flow.

How do you feel as soon as you wake up from sleep in the mornings? Do you feel refreshed, calm and composed? Or do you feel irritable and need to go back to sleep again?

Describe your moods and physical sufferings before, during and after your menstrual flow.
4-5 days before, my breasts get a little bit full and mildly tender.
My abdomen gets more bloated and I hold water in my tummy, hips, and thighs.
I feel an inner tension and I am more “tense”.
If stressed I can get irritable, snappy and/or weepy.
Once my menstrual flow starts, I feel a bit tired, but calmer and more cuddly with my husband.
The water always releases right before or as my flow starts.
My flow is short (three days), and after the flow I am back to normal.

How do you feel as soon as you wake up from sleep in the mornings? Do you feel refreshed, calm and composed? Or do you feel irritable and need to go back to sleep again?
I sleep late. My husband gets up at 6, but I go back to bed and get good, solid sleep for another two hours.
I wake up around 8 a.m., but I am a bit groggy and slow to get started into my day…more calm than irritable…but sort of dull and lethargic.
If I don’t go back to sleep and sleep until 8, I am tired and have a tendency to be more cranky during the day.

Lachesis is the remedy for you.

Take one dose of Lachesis 200C as soon as you wake up in the morning and without taking any food or drinks go back to sleep as usual for another 2 hours.

Do the above on a single day.

Let me know your overall condition after 15 days.

From my wife:
Thank you for your help. I have ordered the Lachesis 200c. I will take as follows and report back.

Thanks Rishimba!

Here is a note from my wife:

Hello Rishimba,

I have a new problem and want to make sure Lachesis is still the remedy for me. (I ordered the Lachesis 200c, but it has not yet arrived so I have not yet taken it.)

Over the past five days, I have been very weak. When I walk from the bedroom to the kitchen, I get very weak, trembly, hot, and sweaty. I have to immediately sit down or I will pass out. I went to the hospital and they ran some tests and confirmed that I have a very bad case of Mononucleosis.
They recommended bed rest for the next two months.

Is Lachesis still the best remedy? Is there something specific for Mononucleosis?

Thank you for your response.

DH-Homeopathy 8 years ago
Lachesis is still the remedy. I hope everything will be cured if Lachesis creates the right response.

Take one dose and observe changes in the next 15 days. Repetition only if you relapse.

Thank you Rishimba - my wife will report back after 15 days.

Hello Rishimba-

I took Lachesis 200c 11 days ago and I have not slept well in the past 10 days. I cannot fall asleep at all. I tried lots of sleeping herbs and melatonin and I still cannot fall asleep. I go to bed around 11 p.m. Some mornings I will fall asleep around 5 a.m. and sleep for a couple of hours.

I have Mononeucleosis and the doctor told me I need to stay in bed and sleep...and for the past 10 days NO sleep.

Please help. Thank you.

DH-Homeopathy 8 years ago
Do you see any change in you for the better or worse after taking the dose of Lachesis?

If there was absolutely no change, please try Lachesis 30C three doses on a single day and wait for 10 days for response.

We will redo everything if 30C doesn't work at all.

What exactly do you feel when you go to bed? Does your mind become more active and familiar thoughts race through it?

What are the symptoms of Mononeucleosis in you?

Do you see any change in you for the better or worse after taking the dose of Lachesis?

I am less hot and sweaty at night and during the day. I get up much later in the morning. I am not eating breakfast until Noon.

What do I feel when I go to bed? Sort of wired, like I drank coffe (which I don't drink). My mind is busy, but not about anything in particular. There is also a buzz in my body. My body is just "awake."

Symptoms of Mono? BEFORE I took lachesis, it was very hot (I've always been a chilly person), fever about 99.5, very weak. If I walked from my bed to the kitchen, I would get hot, sweaty, weak, and need to sit down or I would pass out. This was in hot weather, then if the weather got cooler (68 or 70 degrees), I would get really, really cold. So, not regulating temperature well. I was very tired and wanted to sleep and rest a lot.

Since Lachesis, I seem "wired." I am tired, but a bit more restless and I know my body wants to sleep and rest during the day, but I just can't.

I am scared to take the Lachesis 30c.

May I ask why you picked Lachesis? I read a little bit about it and I am not a jealous person or a person who "hates". Is there some physical symptom I have that fits? I trust your diagnosis, as you have really helped my husband.

Thank you.

Hello-

I just did an errand, and after exerting myself, I got hot and sweaty, very weak, light headed, heart racing, and woozy. So I guess all of my symptoms are still here.

By the way, a couple of weeks ago I started an enzyme supplement called Candidase for the candida infection. I will stop that supplement tomorrow and see if it is causing the insomnia.

DH-Homeopathy 8 years ago
Hello Rishimba-

So, I stopped the supplement, but I still did not sleep. It has gotten worse. Here are my symptoms:

When I think about going to bed, I get a panicky feeling in my chest and I want to cry. As soon as I get into bed, my mind feels overactive about nothing in particular. My body is buzzing all over, my ears are ringing very loudly, there is pressure in my ears, my feet are tingly and burny, there is a fearful feeling in my chest and it seems like my heart is beating too fast, and I have to get up to pee every hour or two. Last night I did not sleep AT ALL, not even in the early morning.

My husband reminded me that I had a similar response to Carcinosin LM1 – I didn’t sleep at night and my sleeping herbs did not help. I thought it was because the practitioner prescribed it daily, but maybe not.

What can I do? Can the Lachesis do this? I am so tired and I without sleep, I am just not myself. I am also very scared.

Thank you.

Also, normal noises and lights really bother me at night before bed.

Are these symptoms old or have surfaced after taking Lachesis?

How is your thirst?

Do you think your sufferings have increased after a single dose of Lachesis?

rishimba 8 years ago
Yes, the issues related to sleep appeared after taking Lachesis 200c. I am rather thirsty.

Yes, these new symptoms related to sleep have come on after taking Lachesis.

Thank you.

DH-Homeopathy 8 years ago
I had suggested just one dose of Lachesis 200C.

I am rather surprised this one dose of Lachesis has affected you so much and for so long.

If your sleep issues have really aggravated after Lachesis, please wait for some days. It will subside and get better.

rishimba 8 years ago
Hello Rishimba-

Yes, I only took one dose of Lachesis 200c. I have a tendency to respond strongly to some of the remedies.

Since the sleep was not getting better, I took a dose of Arsenicum 200c three days ago. I am now falling asleep easily and sleeping through the night. My fever has subsided. I feel tired during the day, and I am weak, but not nearly as weak as before and I am no longer hot and sweaty.

I read that Arsenicum is good for Epstein-Barr/Mono and it seemed in some ways a good match for me. I am very tidy and neat, I like things a certain way, I can be controlling, and my biggest fear is about my health. My next fears are about money and being alone. I have stomach pain (gastritis?) and warm baths and hot water bottles always make me feel better.

Please let me know how to proceed.

Thank you for your kind help.

DH-Homeopathy 8 years ago
I can understand Arsenicum may have produced a good response in you. If you look at the materia medica of Lachesis, Ars Alb is given as its antidote...which means Ars Alb's symptoms are very similar to that of Lachesis.

Since, you were having an over reaction to Lachesis, Ars Alb may have antidoted it to some extent.

Now, if your personality is close of Ars Alb, as you have now disclosed, this remedy can be taken instead of Lachesis. I would suggest 200C may be taken as weekly doses for three weeks maximum to get rid of your present problems.

Stop after 3 doses in any case and wait n watch your gradual improvement.

rishimba 8 years ago
Hello Rishimba-

Thank you so much for the explanation. I have taken the third weekly dose of Arsenicum 200c a couple of days ago. I got a slight fever and a small healing crisis, but am feeling better overall. How to proceed? How long until I report back?

Thank you kindly.

DH-Homeopathy 8 years ago
As long as you are feeling better overall you don't have to go for any further dose.

If you think your earlier symptoms are relapsing, you can take a dose of ARS ALB 200C.

rishimba 8 years ago
Thank you.

After I am healed from the Mono, I would like to continue being treated constitutionally for the items listed in
Questions 1 and 2 of the questionnaire. Shall I resubmit a new questionnaire at that point...or...?

DH-Homeopathy 8 years ago
Yeah, you have to give your fresh set of symptoms during that time. So, a new questionnaire is to be filled.

rishimba 8 years ago
Hello Rishimba-

I am feeling better and through the worst of the Mono. I seem to have done very well with the Arsenicum 200c - it has really helped!! Here is my new updated questionnaire.

Thank you very much for your help.

Sex: Female
Age: 46

1. Describe your main suffering?
Digestive issues: Candida, BIG pain in stomach if I eat acidic foods (not heartburn, it doesn’t come up, I get very tight and bloated and a big pain in stomach), trouble digesting fats, extreme chocolate cravings all the time, not just menstrually.
Chronic fatigue/adrenal fatigue. I lack energy to get me through my day and have low adrenal function. I have chronic Epstein Barr virus, which recently manifested in acute Mononucleosis. The acute situation is gone and I am back to feeling the way I did before the Mononucleosis.

Discomfort in my kidney area sometimes. And sometimes I get edema and hold on to water all over my whole body. Then it goes away.

2. What other physical sufferings do you have in your body?
-Blurry/hazy vision - since being on antibiotics for Lyme for two years (I stopped antibiotics in September)
-New moles on my inner thighs
-Small patches of reddish/brownish skin pigmentation on inner thighs and underneath breasts.
-Acne on chin in last month
- Lack of motivation or enthusiasm to do things – low energy. My thyroid has been checked and levels are perfect.
-Weight gain (20 pounds) in last two years – while on antibiotics
-No sex drive.
-A little white mucus in stool.
-Sometimes I get edema and hold water all over my body that is not related to menstrual cycle.
-Occasional insomnia.

3. What mental sufferings / feelings do you have associated with your physical sufferings? My biggest fear is my health and that I will never get well. I also fear that my cat will get seriously ill. When I don’t feel well, I tend towards isolation and withdrawal. I don’t like people to think I am weak or sick all the time, although I have been chronically ill for years. Now that I have healed the Lyme infection I hope to feel better.

4. What exactly do you feel when you are at your worst? Irritable and every little thing feels like too much. I withdraw and I am sensitive to noise, light, and the smallest sound. I don’t like demands on my time or attention and get mad at my husband if he asks questions or interrupts my ‘withdrawal time’.

5. When did it all start? Can you connect it to any past event or disease?
-It started in 2002 after vaccines (Hep A & B, Chicken Pox, and Flu) and dental surgery the same year (antibiotics), and a rough time in my marriage.
-It got worse in 2007, my mother stopped talking to me because I “chose not to have children” and I have been estranged from my family ever since.
-Many new symptoms have appeared since being on antibiotics for the last two years for Lyme disease and the coinfections (Bartonella and Anaplasma).

6. Which time of the day you are worst? I am tired in the late morning and in the late afternoon.

7. What are the things which aggravate your suffering and which are those which ameliorate the same? Warmth seems to help - hot baths or hot water bottles and covering up. Cold makes me worse. Cleaning the house or putting things “in order” can help. Tight clothing bothers me, I prefer loose fitting clothes. Incompetent people often aggravate me.

8. Do you think your sufferings have relation to any external stimuli (like, change of place) or any internal biological changes in the body, like, menses (in females)? I get over stimulated easily by my environment (noise, smells) and I need periods of alone time. Incompetent or anxious or stupid people really bother me. Stuffy rooms bother me.

I tend to be friendly, but a bit standoffish. I am generally quiet. I often go unnoticed. I can be an impatient person, especially with other people’s incompetence. I am easily irritated when I am not feeling well. If I am feeling well, I don’t get so irritable and I have more patience.

- How do you feel before or during a thunderstorm? I like thunderstorms – they are invigorating.

- Do you like being consoled during your tough times? I do not like platitudes or false sympathy. I want someone to help me to find an answer or a solution or genuinely listen to me.

- Are you sensitive to external stimuli like smell, noise, light etc? Yes! I am highly sensitive to lights, smells (tobacco, perfume, chemicals), and noise.

I think I eat too fast sometimes. I am very tidy and clean and have a strong eye for asthetics/beauty. Cleaning the house feels good. In other words, I like things "just right." I find it hard to be around people who are incompetent, selfish, or irresponsible - I get irritated or angry. I have trouble letting anyone except my husband know I am irritable or angry - I usually just withdraw from the person.

- How do you feel about your friends, family, your children and especially your husband / wife? I don't have many friends, but I would like to have more. I like spending time with my husband, but need lots of alone time too. I feel my husband is the only person who knows the “real” me. I do not have children, and that was by conscious choice. I enjoy being social in small doses, but I don’t really feel like I fit in socially.

11. What are your fears and do you dream of any situation repeatedly? My number one fear is of illness and my health situation. My next fears would probably be being all alone in the world (if my husband died or left me, I would be all alone) and of poverty.

12. What do you crave for in food items and what are your aversions? I crave chocolate all the time and eat way too much of it. I really like cheese too. I like soup and flavorful food.

I tend toward constipation, but right now it is normal and 1-2 per day.

18. How well do you sleep? Sometimes I go through periods of not sleeping. But mostly, since I took Arsenicum 200c, I sleep pretty well. Do you have a particular posture of sleeping? On my side. Generally I need to fall asleep on my right side. I used to have terrible insomnia for years, but it has gotten better with homeopathy.

19. Do you think you are able to satisfy your sexual desires in general? No. I can be with myself sometimes, but I am still adverse to engaging my husband.

I am also responsible and hold myself to a high standard. If I believe in something I live it – I don’t just talk about it and do something else. I really live it.

21. What medications have been taken earlier by you to treat the diseases and do you have any particular symptom surfacing after the medication?

Lots of antibiotics for Lyme completed in September – and since then I have had blurry vision, mucus in my stool, more moles and skin pigmentation on my inner thighs and breasts and I have Candida.

I saw a homeopath from April to August and he treated me with Chocolatum LM1, LM2, LM3, Carbo Veg LM1, Carsinosin LM1, Gaertner 18c, Lac Caninum, and a few others. I felt like I kept reacting and he just kept giving me remedies (over 10 different remedies in three months). Chocolatum helped me sleep better and feel stable and happy, but it didn’t seem to resolve any physical symptoms. The others just made me more sensitive and more nervous and gave me more symptoms. The Gaertner seemed to help my gut.

Recently I tried Lachesis 200c and had trouble sleeping. I cannot say for sure it was the Lachesis though. I took Arsenicum 200c after the Lachesis one weekly for three weeks and that seems to have helped a lot. It has gotten me through the worst of the Mononucleosis and it really helps me to sleep.

I tend to be very sensitive and react to most remedies – most of my reactions seems nervous system related. I would be really good at proving remedies, since I get so many symptoms from them. I am this way with medications and with vitamins and any supplement. A little goes a long way for me.

22. What major diseases are running in your family? Breast c-ancer, colon c-ancer, diabetes, arthritis, stroke, gout, depression, anxiety, auto-immune, mental issues (depression, anxiety, social phobia, and maybe more).

23. Describe, how you look? Describe your overall appearance. 46 years old, tall (5 foot 10 inches), average weight (155), wide hips, small waist, small breasts, dark blond/light brown hair.

24. (ONLY FOR FEMALES)
Please answer the following questions:
- Are the periods early, regular or late in general? How long do they last? Regular. On time. They last about three days and are on the light side.
- Do you suffer from any kind of physical or mental discomfort before, during or after the periods? Water retention in abdomen and hips, some breast swelling and tenderness for about four days before. Some tension in the lower abdomen, but not cramps. A little more emotionally "sensitive" than usual.
- Is the flow scanty, normal or excessive? Scanty to normal.
- Is the blood thick bright red or pale watery? Bright red for the first two days, and then very light for the last part of my period.
- Do you notice any clots in the flow? No.
I occasionally have a small amount of vaginal discharge throughout the month. A watery, milky color.

Another symptom I have is pressure in my ears and ringing. My ears ring all the time.

I am also very sensitive to EMFs (cell phones, wireless, etc).

Thank you.

DH-Homeopathy 8 years ago
You need NUX VOMICA 30C some doses on a single day.

After that, based on your remaining symptoms, we will decide what would be your constitutional remedy.
